I dont just mean loosing your temper occasionally with your kids/other half, i mean really really having a short-fuse and explosive temper! How do you curb it? how do you stop the 'red mist' from descending upon you! i really need a way of defusing myself when im firing up - HELP!!!

Sugarmagnolia · 29/01/2007 16:50

sorry - just had to say I love your name!!!! It's a favourite with DD(5) and we can't wait to see the new movie.

Actually, I suppose I do have a bit of a temper, which has been much worse in recent months so I'll be watching this thread closely.

manuka · 29/01/2007 16:55

That's really funny!! I'm like you RAAAAAARGHHHH!!!!!!
I tend to write viscious songs about whatever is pissing me off! I wrote a BELTER about my partner's ex leech! She deserved every line let me tell you!
According to my accupuncture friend anger is a liver thing and it can be sorted. I had a few sessions (after I trashed a load of stuff belonging to The Leech) and it did help! Avoiding spices helped me too. If I could have got away with throwing that woman out of the window I would have done! And I do aromatherapy and Reiki for a living ha ha ha!!!

Actually Charlotte I think there have been quite a few threads about this recently - try searching under parenting.

belgianmama · 30/01/2007 12:29

I've just had a search on this topic, just this minute (This thread was one of the few that came up). Evening primrose oil and vit B12 together keep coming up. Think I'll try that too, because I have the same red mist, bubbling vulcane that could burst any minute now popping up about a week before AF arrives. Must say that I've been taking evening primrose for a month now for a totally different reason and PMT was worse this month than ever. I'll get vit B12 first to see whether the secret lies in that and then try that cactus thing I've read about.
Success.

Lulabelle! What a gorgeous name! That would be a great name for a stage name if you do write some songs! I do my songs with my friends cos they can play instruments! We've put them on t'internet for free if you want a listen check out \link{http://www.berrettatheband.com}
and go to FREE SONGS. The song about the evil lazy bitch is called Perfume and the song entitled Disgusting is about my ex boyfriend!!

Rhubarb · 30/01/2007 19:02

NO I FECKING DON'T!

manuka · 30/01/2007 19:05

nasty songs

manuka · 30/01/2007 19:06

Took me a while to work out how to do that link thing! Not very technical!

Hillary · 30/01/2007 19:11

Oh yes when I go everyone runs away... I get it from my mother, she goes for the throat first then asks questions later..

If its something to do with my children, family or friends I'l kill. People duck when I shout not that I do it all the time - only when necessary.

filthymindedvixen · 30/01/2007 19:19

Very much enjoyed the line ''next time bitch, I'll piss in your perfume...''

manuka · 30/01/2007 19:24

Thankyou!!! I smashed all her jewelery and ripped up her jeans and I was about to pour her perfume down the sink and decant my piss in it but then my dp rang to say he was on his way back.... next time....!!!!!

totsy · 31/01/2007 10:34

Manuka - LOVED your song Perfume What a bloody funny chorus! Piss in your perfume!!!!!
Excellent way of discharging anger I think I'll have a go myself. Really enjoyed your other songs too. Played them to my dh and even he was impressed and he's quite precious about his music. I hope you get somewhere with it because it really is good stuff.

kittylette · 31/01/2007 10:36

i have a terrible temper, really

nulnulcat · 31/01/2007 10:57

threw an ashtray at housemate when we were at uni - she had just tried to nick my boyfriend! god knows how many pubs and clubs i have been asked to leave because i have punched someone who pissed me off!

my mum and my nan were the same though, remember ducking flying ornaments on many occasions so it must be hereditory and dd has an evil temper - patio doors got a paperweight through them and she was only 2! we are all fiery red heads

i have tried to control it since having dd walking into another room and taking big breaths sometimes help but mainly i find going into her room and chucking some soft toys around helps - make sure she doesnt see me though!!

and a trip to the bottle bank helps just smashing a few bottles makes me feel better!

stumpydoglooksforwardtospring · 31/01/2007 11:23

i don't have a temper, ever . well maybe just sometimes and when i do it's terrible. i lost it with my dh when i was 9months pg.he was saying really hurtful things and wouldn't stop so i picked up the tv set - portable, in bedroom- and threw it on the floor .it was very broken .he still wouldn't stop so i phoned his mother and told her to come and take him away. we had the phone on speaker phone because it wasn't working properly, and she didn't realise when she spoke to him and she called me -mad- . i do feelv ashamed but i've only lost it like this a couple of times.btw we still haven't got another tv in our room yet

CharlotteACavatica · 31/01/2007 11:31

Well after some thought on this subject i think my mum may be right about the old hormone thing i have figured out that with me there is a pattern related to my cycle which seems i have a week of being a bitch when im on AF and then about four days after im happy, and then i have a few days of being depressed, followed by a week of being a screaming head spinning psycho, and then im depressed for a whole week leading up to AF, dp agrees lol!! maybe i should go purchase some evening primrose and and vit B12.........

OP posts:
CharlotteACavatica · 31/01/2007 11:33

Oh lordy yes. However, I mentally picture growing claws like wolverine and going on a rampage. PLus muttering deathly threats & curses under my breath.

I think I shall go into business. I will hire a long narrow corridor and buy a sh!t load of cheap plates, cups etc and charge ladies to come in and chuck stuff at the far wall. It's work for me!

Budababe · 31/01/2007 11:38

I have a temper too - definitely aggravated by PMS.

I had acupuncture for it years ago and it was brilliant.
