What is this swelling above my collar bone.

I have had it over 3 months and have booked doctors for next Friday. It is above my right collarbone, the swelling is soft and inside it is a movable long thin lump. It does not hurt at all and I haven't had any infections or bites etc. It does not bother me except it hasn't always been there so o worry about things like lymphoma. I know that apparently cancer lumps are usually hard and immobile so it's probably a lymph node....Has anyone had anything like this at all or any doctors with ideas please? I keep swinging between thinking I'm over reacting and then thinking I should rush to the doctors. In case you can't notice it, it's on the left in the picture but actually on my right. The redness is my terrible British tan Blush

Do yours stay the same size or do they fluctuate? My left side is the bigger and more obvious. It is bigger then the one in the picture. How big is yours? Mine is scaring me so bad

Controlledchaos · 29/10/2019 14:41

Left is larger. Even after surgery. They do seem to fluctuate in size. They look sort of like a egg pushing through the skin. Seem squishy. Not sure if that helps

Kgraves · 31/10/2019 03:38

Ok thanks. Yes that helps. Does your left side get bigger then the one in the picture?

shinyhappyme13 · 08/11/2019 20:14

I too have this mass above my left collarbone. I noticed it about 4 months ago and go in next week for the ultrasound. My skin in that area itches randomly, has anyone had that experience as well? My left collarbone also is sore. It’s terrible. I am very glad to have found this thread, I thought I was the only crazy person with the mystery lump!!

Controlledchaos · 08/11/2019 21:09

You’re not alone. Do you have lipomas elsewhere? That’s what the biopsy results showed on mine after surgery I’m told. I do have many smaller lipomas on arms and legs. The pain in myself collarbones is what had me concerned

I am not aware of having any elsewhere. Yes, the pain is concerning. Hopefully something can be done!

Controlledchaos · 10/11/2019 14:08

The surgeon told me the type of lipoma I had in that spot was the type that spread into surrounding tissues including nerves which could cause the pain

Evora · 10/11/2019 15:04

MegGriffin On Aug 2016 you shared your pic. What has been the final diagnosis of your supraclavicular swelling and which testing methods were you subjected to and has swelling subsided to reveal the normal fossa (concave appearance) or said area? I Have the same presentation and sadly no specialist has figured it yet after 7 months!
Thank you

Bethymaria · 10/11/2019 16:34

Hi guys, I also have this swelling and I confess that I'm afraid of being cancer. happy to find this topic. i don't speak english i am brazilian i use a translator can anyone help me.

Bethymaria · 10/11/2019 16:38

Can I talk to someone through a social network? This is on both sides of my arm. on the right has a lump on the left and something fat.

sharye · 17/11/2019 19:09

@kpsra hii you seem to be dealing with it for a long time. I need to ask about my own mum she’s 56 and i just noticed a puffy swelling over her right collarbone. Its soft and squishy and non painful. Im worried it can be an enlarged node, google says lymphoma :/// i don’t know what lymphoma nodes feel like but this one is just like fluid inside the skin.. I’m so worried I’m trying to convince her to go see a doctor but she knows I’m a certified hypochondriac so they avoid listening to me :(

sharye · 17/11/2019 19:14

@Evora hi what does your swelling feel like? My mum has it too and i just noticed it last week, its more visible when she’s standing but when she’s sitting down it’s almost not visible. It feels soft and squishy but tenses up a little when she stretches her neck.

sharye · 17/11/2019 19:18

Please everybody update on your situation. Did anyone have ultrasounds done? What does it say?

kpsra · 17/11/2019 19:47

Updates on mine..still there they go up and down but always present..been ultrasounded found nothing but normal tissue (to re-update..I have had this since the late 80s) a few months ago had neck and shoulder pain...found I had bulging disks and a slipped disc in the cervical spine..so we MRI for the spine but it up all that tissue too...nothing was said so I feel clear plus I showed the PA who was doing the workup for the spine and showed her ..she thought odd too so she had Hepatology do up blood work for blood cancers..again all good so even though I will worry about it...I wont as much anymore because of the length I have had it and all the tests done on it. Mine pretty much looks like the picture on both side but no redness.

kpsra · 17/11/2019 21:41

Is it hard an immovable? Mine are on both sides..right side larger and go up and down with activity, stress etc...mine has been looked at and images...nothing but docs dont know why it's this way...have had them since the late 80s...they are noticeable...I have no supraclavicle triangle its all filled in and mine are not lipomas or cancer. I no longer worry but wish I knew what is causing it...there are several hypothesis by my own research.

Mad1121 · 03/12/2019 21:08

3 months of extensive testing for cancer.after having large right armpit swelling. Lymphoma was ruled out. No breast cancer either. They have just diagnosed me with a very rare disease which actually mimicks cancer called dermatopathic lymphodinitis. 3 days ago after feeling really unwell I noticed a large ( the size of your palm ) swollen area on my right clavical area. Not sore feels like a firmish marshmallow consistemcy
. Saw doc yesterday and she is sending me for yet another ultrasound next week. Been a very long 3 months....😕😕

shinyhappyme13 · 04/12/2019 22:39

Had an ultrasound and blood work done. All cancers ruled out. Tissues and lymph all looked normal. Doctor told me he isn’t seeing anything to cause the lump.

kpsra · 04/12/2019 23:37

same here so I have kinda tried not to worry about it but still...what is it? Happy all bad stuff is ruled out for you!

destini08 · 07/12/2019 05:41

Hello, I'm going to this exact same thing! When I stand up both sides are swollen around collarbone and now the right side of my neck is hard and the right side is more swollen than left. The only thing that the doctor say and I've been to two different doctors one to the emergency room second to a primary was that since I was in a car accident I was rear-ended and might possibly B extension of the nerves and muscles from the trapezius muscle that extends from the back of your neck to the front side. My concern is dead now my neck is so stiff at a feels like it's hard to swallow. I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the medicines that I was on due to the pain. So they switched out medicine they thought it was giving me the allergic reaction and put me on a different muscle relaxant but it's still doing it. Nobody really knows why and not actually at a loss. I'm grateful to have found this post because I really thought I was completely alone in this phenomenon.

Angieohio1 · 18/01/2020 18:32

I’m so glad I found this post. I’ve noticed both sides are swollen and I’m scared to death. I do and don’t want to know what this is. It’s been there for 2 days now. You wonderful ladies are giving me the courage to seek my doctor for answers. Thank you!
