Anyone had the cold virus that is going around?

just wondered if anyone has this nasty cold virus that's going around at the moment?

My cold started a week ago and this is the second week - I feel tired, congested and lightheaded - have never had a cold that has taken so long to go!

My aches and runny nose and eyes have gone thankfully but I don't have an ounce of energy or enthusiasm for anything and chest feels tight. I could just sleep and sleep

After spending 72 hrs in bed 3 weeks ago getting up only to put out food for grazing children - I am only just getting back on my feet anywhere near "normal". Still having headaches, longing for afternoon naps and in bed before 9 most nights.

I'm another one who never gets caught by this sort of virus.

Into week 3 here, had the original sore throat/cough/temperature thing the first week, then lots of coughing and nausea the second, and now I am mostly just feeling sick every time I think about food, plus I have absolutely no energy. I am so fed up with this!

I am on day 6 of this bloody virus flu thing and actually feel like it's getting worse. Chest really tight and no energy at all. Taking paracetamol and ibuprofen as everything hurts. I have to call work every day and I can tell they aren't impressed but what can I do?! Aaah. Flowers for everyone

I'm off to the Dr tomorrow.
Think I have labyrinthinthitis now...

Just came onto mn to ask if I was being pathetic but apparently I am not! Been ill since Friday and am better, but still very tired and and lethargic. Sad about no exercise and have food sitting in the fridge that I have no energy to cook. Went back to bed after breakfast today and had a nap but still tired and achy, and had a temp last night. It is very odd to be a poorly grown up! Trying to focus on drinking water and more rest.

Just feeling better after 3 weeks. The cough didn't last too long but then had a sore throat and mouth full of ulcers. Only just getting some energy back.

Me too. My work colleague was off for most of last week, and still looks rough. Then I started shivering and aching last Thursday, dragged myself into work, but in bed by 7pm. Felt better on Saturday, the woke up Sunday with a scratchy throat. Wednesday now, and I'm still aching, and starting to cough up gunk.

I am asthmatic, but my peak flow is fine, and my chest isn't tight, but I am so so tired.

DH wants to go out on Friday, but I can't even think about it. I'm using every scrap of energy to get to the office, and to take the dcs to their various (and numerous) sport fixtures

I have it too. I'm totally exhausted (have spent most of the last two days in bed) and my throat feels like someone is stabbing knives into me. Day/Night Nurse is the only thing working for me atm.

I got 5 hrs sleep with night nurse then woke up and couldn't stop coughing for hrs. Off to docs this morning as now need a fit note (off work a whole week.) Bloody fed up now.

I have it again. Well, I expect it's a different virus to the one I had earlier this month but I feel dreadful. Dry cough, sore throat, aching, blurred vision. Yuk.

I had a cold a month ago, which wasn't too bad. It somehow developed into flu, a really bad chest infection and mouth infection. I was sick 40 times, had stomach bleeding, couldn't breath, couldn't eat anything for 10 days, could hardly walk and had to go to hospital. It's taken me all this time to get over it.

Good luck with your colds, I hope they get better soon.

I also had terrible shivers, sweats, dizziness and couldn't see or hear properly.

Oh yes Sad

I don't know if I'd describe it as a cold though as not many cold symptoms, more fluey. I hardly ever get even a sniffle but this really knocked me on my arse. I felt too weak to get out of bed for days. It started really oddly as well: all afternoon and evening felt fine, was at the pub with friends and had no more than a barely-there tickle in the throat. Within two hours of going to bed my temperature had gone up 104 Shock DP said I was completely delirious and talking anguished nonsense in my sleep, of which I had no memory, but I hadn't slept a wink! Really horrible.

I thought I'd been particularly unlucky but a whole load of men and women I work with ended up in hospital with it. It's vile.

Yep another one here Sad

Started getting ill last Tuesday, aches shivers, the works - have spent the past week in bed and have now foolishly come into work...when I'm really not well enough to be (2 colleagues have also gone down with it). It's the fuzzy, yucky head that's the worst atm - I can't think straight, and feel dizzy and just blah. Brew (lemsip) to all...

Back for round 2 - getting through Kleenex at a rate of knots.

Had just 3 days where energy levels were almost back to normal.

Both DD and DH have had a nasty flu type virus with really high temperatures (40 plus at times). This went on for about a week and both absolutely exhausted- neither are ill usually. The are still not right even a couple of weeks after with nasty cough. Doctor said there are some really nasty bugs around at the moment. Lots of people have been off school with it.

I went down with it 3.5 weeks ago and was just getting on the mend last tues/weds. Sat started coming down with it again. My NDN had told me she was in for round 2 but I just put that down to an unhealthy lifestyle and hoisted my massive judgey pants and looks like I've got the same.

Confused yikes...ok I wil NOT have a relapse (have to get over it first...)

Why won't this bastard virus feck off?!

Report

OK this is what I have too. I missed this thread and posted pathetically about never-ending flu but it sounds like I just have what you all do.

Day 11 here. Still have diarrhoea, nausea, am coughing up the most revolting stuff and am so, so tired. I have pretty bad asthma which is weirdly fine given my cough so am thankful for that.

We're supposed to be skiing on Friday and am really worried I'm not physically going to manage to get 4 children on a plane let alone into ski lessons! Does travel insurance work for colds / flu?! Doubt it....!

Fingers crossed for some weight loss at least Grin

Having a relapse here, I am surviving by taking Beechams max (or called something like that).

I haven't done much exercise since I had surgery at Christmas, long story, but I am usually fairly fit.

We have just moved house and school is a 1 mile each way bike ride/dog walk away. I had to have a warm bath and a lie down after collecting DD yesterday - pathetic.

I know so many people who have had it in real life 3-4 weeks seems the norm.
