Anyone had the cold virus that is going around?

just wondered if anyone has this nasty cold virus that's going around at the moment?

My cold started a week ago and this is the second week - I feel tired, congested and lightheaded - have never had a cold that has taken so long to go!

Me, started about 36 hours ago. I rarely get colds and I feel like death right now.

Worst thing is that I am moving 200 miles away next week, wrapping up everything at work on Thursday and have absolutely tons of stuff to do at home which includes clearing a 10 acre field of fencing, show jumps and emptying a huge barn in the field which is full of general crap.

Even worse is that DH works away and leaves for work on Friday morning and I won't see him until he gets to the new house (which is after the removal people).

I am allowing myself to be ill today in the hope I feel better tomorrow.

Grim.

Oh crap. I've started running a temperature, feel fuzzy and have a cough. Is it really going to go on for weeks?

DH started on it at the weekend (and took today and yesterday off work, most unlike him) and DS2 has been off school. Other DC have no obvious symptoms so far, but I've a nasty feeling it's only going to be a matter of time.

I've got it too but only on day 3 please tell me it doesn't last for weeks Sad
I have asthma and this bug went straight to my chest and is now making my throat raw as well.
Am off work as I ache all over and the thought of driving to work made me want to cry.
Flowers to everyone suffering.

Well just as I thought I was feeling a bit better, it got me again yesterday! Once again I felt like a pin cushion! My body feels broken, my head literally bangs, sore throat & bloody fed up! Everything feels like a struggle, I really just want to stay in bed but I can't! its the whole body aching, I just want to feel better now!

Mine came on on Monday. A slight cough at work followed by aching all over and not being able to make up my mind whether I was hot or cold. Now I have no appetite, back ache, a sore throat and a lovely 'meaty' cough. Haven't been able to go into work since Tuesday and I'm never off sick. Poor DH is rearranging his hours to do the school bus stop run and be home early enough to sort tea out. Please tell me I'm not in for weeks of this! Although, on the bright side, the weight I was trying to lose is shifting with no problem!

I had this too - started with really sore throat, then pounding head - as bad as a migraine, with nausea, accompanied by runny nose.

Then it went to my chest. I have latent asthma and it returned with a vengeance - I was struggling to breathe.

I went to the doctor yesterday and she confirmed it is now a chest infection, so I got antibiotics, and an inhaler.

There is pneumonia going about - so anyone whose chest is affected by this, be careful. The doctor told me to rest, so I'm off work - I'm not taking any chances.

It's bloody persistent, isn't it?

Thought I was fine, then get all stuffed up, again. Dog breath, this morning, and I sound like Marj Simpson.

Day three here and I am feeling truly grim, it has ignited my asthma too MamaMary.

I am meant to be handing over one of my biggest jobs (self employed project work) at a meeting later today as I am moving away. I am not sure I can leave the house tbh right now as I am grey and clammy just walking about here.

I have got an upset stomach with it too.

Lavender I'm at home feeling guilty about not working...but it can't be helped. I'd advise you to rearrange your meeting if at all possible. Flowers

Another one here. Had since Saturday when I had a bit of a dry cough and felt dizzy. Thought wouldn't be too bad and that I was over the worst until yesterday when wham developed from feeling ill to feeling completely knocked out with a steaming nose and hideous chesty cough. Feeling very sorry for myself. Hope we all get better soon!

Yep got it here too. Started last Monday with it- usual viral type feeling shivery, bad throat came out in mild cold and left me on Saturday. Returned again yesterday in a different form- awful head cold and literally cannot stop sneezing.

Horrible I hate winter for this reason! I blame it all on UK weather going from mild to cold and being constantly damp doesn't help. Plus I have a 2yr old DD who loves to share her germs Hmm

Well, I think I'm over it .... but ....

So did DH, he managed one day back at work and then crashed again. And DS2, who went back to school today but needed picking up before lunchtime as really not coping there and who went straight to horizontal once back here.

I suppose it could rear up and fell me again anytime from tomorrow onwards?

We had the horrible virus thing that was going about in January that lasted nearly three weeks but now we've all got the cold again and its definitely worse than the average cold, 5 days in I don't feel any better. Dh has already gone to bed so he must be feeling rough.

We've had bugs on and off for 5 weeks but this little treat landed with my ds last thrusday , horrible cough and cold with spiky temperature. Then my dad who hasn't had a day off work sick in 35 years has been the same. I got it Sunday, have been feeling rotten and have a bit of tummy flu thrown in for good measure, and despite my valient attempts not to breathe on the baby he now has a temperature and green shot so it looks like he's going the same way. Interesting that DM who gets everything but has had a flu jab this year is still OK, as is teenage ds who lives on poptarts and white bread (so really should be unhealthy and get everything). Had to do some serious sneaky shopping in sainsburys this morning because I needed calpol nurofen and paracetamol and you can only buy not enough of any of them to be of any use.

Ive had it and I'm still having sore eyes and ears
But the main thing is I'm okay, just sniffly, one minute, and then feel wiped out exhausted the next. Very odd. Has anyone else had this exhausted feeling? I haven't done any exercise for ten days now which is not like me.

Yep. I didn't sleep for about two weeks because of the cough and then the sinus pain. I'm now sleeping, but given the opportunity I wake up, drift back off again until lunchtime, get up and feed myself and then fall asleep again on the sofa for another hour or so. DD was at nursery Tuesday and Wednesday and that's pretty much all I did.

Thanks, hope you feel better soon
I also don't feel as if it's fully out of my system. Like it's lurking for a second attack. Good thing I have a quiet weekend.

Mine has come back ConfusedAngry
Had it for around ten days, lost my voice completely for two days, then started to feel better, now I'm bloody full of it again. I have soooo much to do and just want to curl up in bed 24/7.

Yep I'm onto the second week here. It's been awful, definitely doesn't appear to be going away any time soon either!

Oh dear. I think I have it by the sounds of it. More than a cold but not quite flu. Couldn't get out my bed on Wednesday, ached everywhere in places where I didn't think I had anything to ache. Yesterday was able to get up and about but by evening had the fizzy snot as I call it. Today, after a good nights sleep, I feel not too bad from the neck down but my head feels just weird. Tired, runny nose, puffy eyes, fizzing in my sinuses. Haven't had a cold in ages.

Mine has come back too - I did feel a bit better on Sunday, woke up feeling ten times worse today. I am moving house this week so very busy/somewhat stressed but I feel absolutely grim, added sinus pain, earache and a one sided sore throat this morning.

Report
Waxlyrically · 15/03/2016 10:28

Oh no lavender that's sound like terrible timing. I have everything crossed that after coming back big time mine is now finally starting to go. I still have a nightmare cough, runny nose and feel pretty lethargic but temperature has gone and I can function semi normally now - back to work tomorrow. It really is a horrible one. Get better soon fellow sufferers!

No idea what mine is!
Felt tutelary wretched last week.
Started the Friday before...only got out of bed to go to work (I only work 1.5 hours per day)
Spent all day in bed Saturday (Dh left for a week for a work trip to the Far East....lovely!)
Poor kids fended for themselves all weekend with me occasionally lobbing something in the oven for them...
Managed to go to work all week last week but God, I felt so rough.
Hideous head cold, deaf in one ear, stomach cramps, nausea....ugh.
Thought I was better so took my mum shopping on Sunday...big mistake!
Felt awful, when I got back so spent the feat of Sunday in bed but didn't sleep all night.
Yesterday felt rotten too but did sleep last night.
Runny nose back today and headache.
:(
Ugh.

I've had it since Friday. It is "nearly flu". I'm off work, coughing and aching all over and feel depressed because I know that work is piling up in my absence. I think I read that its v widespread in southwest at the moment?
