I think she likes the food there.

Chest is fine, woke up yesterday morning boiling boiling hot, really scary temperature. Getting her ready to take her to the doctors, when I noticed a rash on her arm. Then realised it was all over her body.

Took her to GPs, he said take her straight to hospital.

Got to the paed assessment unit, they stuck a damn line in her hand. She hates this and I know it is a neccessary evil but the 2/3 minutes it takes them to put it in are the longest of my life.

Consultant checked her rash, took lots of blood from her poor little hand. Got 2 other docs to check the rash. Most spots where disappearing when touched, but some werent. Very scary few hours waiting for bloods and monitoring her.

NOT MENINGITUS THANK THE FECKING LORD.

She's got an infection in her blood, they're giving her anti-biotics through the drip in her hand, theyve sent her home for tonight got to go back in tomorrow to have more anti-bios. The line is still in her hand

More tests are being done on her blood, one test can take up to 5 days to come back.
The doctor said "when we get the results back on Monday we'll ring you if needs be to come back in"

Which, of course, is Christmas Day
But, they wouldnt have let her out tonight if it was serious, would they?

oh god, sorry boris

have everythign crossed that she's ok and that you don't have to go back

poor you and dd

olittletownofberolina · 21/12/2006 18:44

Sorry to hear this wb. Your poor dd - I found having a line in (when I had my mcs/d&cs) bad enough, must be absolutely horrible for her . No, I don't think they'd take chances if it was serious, and what a big relief that it's not meningitis.

Hoping for you that she doesn't have to go back in.

SaggarClaus · 21/12/2006 18:44

Aaww Welshy - hope she's better soon. I'm sure they wouldn't have let her go if they were worried.

I hate them having a line in - dd has them often and is fine now she's older but when she was little I hated it.

WigWamBam · 21/12/2006 18:44

Oh Boris - sounds horrendous. I hope things improve soon.

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappyNewYe · 21/12/2006 18:44

WB - can't speculate how serious it is, but agree it can't be that bad if she is at home now. Hoping that you get good news on Monday, and that she gets well really quickly.

Twohootsunderthemistletoe · 21/12/2006 18:46

WB - really sorry to hear what you are DD are going thru again

I really hope the tests come back OK.

xx

welshboris · 21/12/2006 18:46

Thanks girls.

Santa came round yesterday, gave her some chocolate and sweets Had to take my food police hat off for a bit.

And the Ospreys rugby team were on the ward too, gave her a MASSIVE goody bag full of signed things.

My boyfriend was a star as usual, he may be old but my God he's supportive

Its good she is getting the antibiotics to treat her, hopefully they must think she will start to improve if they have let her come home.

Hope her results come back okay.

lulumama · 21/12/2006 18:48

hope she makes a full and speedy recovery from this xx

alittlebitshy · 21/12/2006 18:51

i hoped this wasn't you...
por little boris. Glad she's out though!!

ComeOyeFaithfulVeneer · 21/12/2006 18:52

OH Welshy you are both having a right old time of it aren't you. Heres hoping she makes a speedy recovery and doesn't need to be admitted. I hope she feels much better to enjoy christmas and she starts the new year fit and well.

EmmyLou · 21/12/2006 19:03

Thinking of you

lanismum · 21/12/2006 19:04

oh no, the poor little thing, cannulas are a bugger for little ones, both getting them in and keeping them in, fingers crossed it stays in place for the whole time she needs blood taken/antibiotics given, and everything crossed she will not need to be in over christmas.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/12/2006 19:43

Oh sweetie!!!

Poor little thing. It's good they have allowed her home tonight though.

xxx

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 21/12/2006 19:48

oh god how scary

I guess maybe it just didn't clear up properly after her pneumonia? Odd sounding rash though

Thank god is not meningitis

Does she seem ok in herself now?

welshboris · 21/12/2006 19:58

Shes been sleeping since 6, she was playing earlier though. At first they thought it was hand foot and mouth?
I think they blame everything on "viral" and just give antibiotics.

I just hope they take the line out her hand tomorrow and give her oral antibiotics instead. She looks so ill with that in

Miaou · 21/12/2006 20:15

Oh Boris, how awful for you!! As you say, they wouldn't have let her home if they weren't happy for her to go. Big hugs for you and little Boris

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 21/12/2006 20:19

Oh WB, that's wretched. My own DD was recalled to hospital on Easter Sunday . Huge sympathies for your DD having needles and lines, my DD really hates it.

Hope the tests all come back OK - I would hope that even if they want to do further investigation they will let you have Christmas Day at home. If it's Hand, Foot & Mouth it shouldn't last more than a week.

7swansaswimmingup · 21/12/2006 20:25

hi boris,

sorry to hear about your dd. my friends ds had a blood infection and he recovered in a few days, same thing with the rash and they thought it was meningitis. i think the line is in for the antibiotics because they get in the system quicker to make recovery better.

hope tomorow goes well for her

MariNativityPlay · 21/12/2006 20:36

Oh WB, I so hoped this wasn't you and dd after the grim time you had last time.
Letting her home sounds very positive. I really hope she recovers soon and good to hear you have your Wrinkled Wretainer stalwart boyfriend on hand to provide support and TLC. Sending Borisette big positive vibes for getting that revolting cannula out of her hand very soon.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 22/12/2006 12:53

How is she today wb?

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 22/12/2006 13:04

Oh WB! I'm so sorry! Something like this always seems to happen over Christmas doesn't it? But you know, if she does end up spending Christmas on the ward, they do make sure the kids don't miss out.

Don't do anything this Christmas that isn't for you and your family. Have a celebration in the New Year instead. It's just another day when all is said and done, if you move it for the kids they are not to know!

Hoping she gets better soon WB, it must be such a worry and a nightmare for you. Thinking of you hun. x

welshboris · 22/12/2006 18:33

Been back in for more anti-bios, was hoping they would take the line out of her hand but they havent

Back in again tomorrow, for more durgs pumped through her system. They think they will have the test results back by then.

She's very clingy at the moment, so I cant do anything. Last minute shopping will really be last minute this year!
