I think she likes the food there.

Chest is fine, woke up yesterday morning boiling boiling hot, really scary temperature. Getting her ready to take her to the doctors, when I noticed a rash on her arm. Then realised it was all over her body.

Took her to GPs, he said take her straight to hospital.

Got to the paed assessment unit, they stuck a damn line in her hand. She hates this and I know it is a neccessary evil but the 2/3 minutes it takes them to put it in are the longest of my life.

Consultant checked her rash, took lots of blood from her poor little hand. Got 2 other docs to check the rash. Most spots where disappearing when touched, but some werent. Very scary few hours waiting for bloods and monitoring her.

NOT MENINGITUS THANK THE FECKING LORD.

She's got an infection in her blood, they're giving her anti-biotics through the drip in her hand, theyve sent her home for tonight got to go back in tomorrow to have more anti-bios. The line is still in her hand

More tests are being done on her blood, one test can take up to 5 days to come back.
The doctor said "when we get the results back on Monday we'll ring you if needs be to come back in"

Which, of course, is Christmas Day
But, they wouldnt have let her out tonight if it was serious, would they?

Oh WB, so sorry to read this. Your poor little DD! I hope the antibiotics work really quickly and she's back to feeling well again for Christmas. Best wishes to you all.

SaggarClaus · 22/12/2006 18:36

Glad they're keeping a close eye on her Boris. Hope the results show that the anti-b's will do the job and that she can maybe have them orally.

FiveGoldenFIMBOIDs · 22/12/2006 18:49

I hope she is ok WB and you all manage to have a lovely Christmas.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/12/2006 21:04

oh WB.

At least she is coming back home after each visit.

Miaou · 23/12/2006 12:43

How is she doing today, WB?

welshboris · 23/12/2006 18:17

Gutted

Went back in about 1 today, hoping to have the line taken out of her hand.

Doctor took me into a room, the test results had come back from Cardiff.

Turns out she has got the meningococcal bug

They said we are very very lucky that I took her in so quickly, they treated it with strong antibiotics through the IV straight away, eliminating the worst of it.

My parents and myself are now on antibiotics aswell for 2 days as we had close contact with her.

She has to go back in every day to have more drugs pumped into her hand for 10 days.
Which includes Christmas Day

MerryPiffmas · 23/12/2006 19:20

Wb. Only just seen this - poor little dd, she has totally been through the mill.
Thank god it was spotted quickly and hopefully she will pick up enough to enjoy xmas, despite the trip to the hospital.

Are you ok, you must be beside yourself with worry?

I'm just drained, didnt think I'd ever use that expression to describe myself but I am.

My boyfriend really is a star, I cant praise him enough. He has been so supportive and caring towards DD & I. Plus I have amazing parents close by so I'm not struggling for anything.

I just want this over, she hates the IV in her hand, and she looks so ill with it on.

I finshed Christmas shopping for DD ages ago, anyone else will have to wait.

The doctors words were "Thank God you brought her in so quickly"

oh welshy, so sorry this is not over for you yet!!!

But as the doc said, thank God you acted on your instincts. I have to say, when I read what you said about how dd was, my first thought was "I don't think I would have been that decisive" - and look where it would have got me!

(((((hug)))) - hope your Christmas is ok and your dd has a lovely day despite the hossie visit

UCM · 23/12/2006 20:06

Sorry to hear this. Wishing your dd a speedy recovery and hope you're ok WB. x

WB sorry to hear this, hope all is ok. It is horrible when they put a line in especially to little ones, remember dd getting hers and I wanted to weep.

SaggarClaus · 23/12/2006 20:19

Hell's teeth Boris.....well done you.

Enjoy Christmas - even the visit to the hossie - they usually try to make it good for the little 'uns.
