Hope someone can advise on this tricky situation.

Have been plagued by UTIs and sinus infections recently which ended in me having about 6 courses of different antibiotics, which was a concern as I have had a proven c difficile infection in past.

Saw GP while on holiday at in laws this week as had uTI and sinus symptoms again..tested positive for UTI, had blood and pus coming from sinus..temp 38.4

Prescribed co-amoxiclav but on day 2 of it have really bad diarrhoea.. constant all day.

So feel like should stop the antibiotics but then don't want the sinus infection/UTI to flare up.

Plan was I was to hand in urine and stool samples to own GP in Tuesday but call emergency GP here if worse over weekend.

Not sure what I should do, or if they could even do anything?

Any advice welcome. :)

I was caught short in Waitrose this morning! It was only a teeny bit, thank God. It's a long was from the cafe to the loo and once that cappuccino hit my insides I'd had it! Blush. Wish I'd had your cork this morning but thanks anyway Faded. Smile

That sounds grim Fanjo, I hope you get help soon. Flowers

I think they are thinking kidney infection. So hope I don't get hit with more ABs

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/01/2016 18:42

Now feeling better because I have made OOH appt of course.

I thought DD was only one who perked up and ran about there

ooh GP said still UTI plus bowel infection very possibly c diff. Was concerned and thorough.

But gave me more ciprofloxacin!

SauvignonBlanche · 04/01/2016 20:14

Everything crossed for you!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/01/2016 20:41

Not mad keen on the ciprofloxacin to say least!

To send off two samples tomorrow

OP posts:
SauvignonBlanche · 04/01/2016 20:47

Oh dear, I wouldn't fancy Cipro either.

I'm going to have a coffee at home tomorrow.
Whilst Waitrose is right next to my GPs I don't fancy producing my sample there!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/01/2016 20:52

He was going by cipro being what the uti was last sensitive to. But I was surprised. He seemed knowledgeable though.

Hope your cork stays in!

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 06:54

On looking I think he gave me a half dose of cipro. Not sure that will solve anything but we shall see.

Need to be OK today as it's my aunties 80th birthday and taking her for a meal with my mum, neither of whom are in great health.

Roonerspism · 05/01/2016 07:00

I'm really sorry you feel so shite.

When the dust settles, could you think about what triggered all this? My mum had terrible UTIs which stopped responding to ABs altogether. Eventually saw a medical herbalist who made her a potion which has basically kept them at bay since but she takes it daily. GP is delighted and completely agrees...... I also have suffered terrible sinus infections which have massively improved using a steroid spray and tinkering with my diet (wheat, dairy).

A huge amount can be done preventatively. It is so debilitating to have these infections and countless ABs

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 07:02

I have some bladder issued which means it doesn't empty fully. And sinus issues run in family

Has been a very stressful time too though plus DD rarely sleeps which can't be helping. Need to address that first I think.

Fanjo I'm sorry your not feeling any better sounds as though you are having a miserable time.
Is it wise to see your mum and aunt at the moment, I thought c-diff was very contagious?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 07:31

Thanks both of you Thanks

Didn't think of that.

If we just go to restaurant and I scrub hands should be OK. Won't go unless tum has totally settled though, wouldn't go to a restaurant with upset tum. Might just have them here. It has for moment. Probably because I need to do a sample though.

Or might send DH and DD to meet them, it's her who is apple of their eye anyway :)

OP posts:
Penfold007 · 05/01/2016 07:37

Send DH and CD then you can enjoy putting your feet up for a well deserved rest.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 08:42

Very tempting.

Actually tum has settled overnight with the Cipro!? So maybe not c diff but another bug? Did feel like when I had salmonella.

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 08:47

Ciprofloxacin is used for certain bowel infections. I hope this is the solution!

OP posts:
SauvignonBlanche · 05/01/2016 12:01

Delighted to hear you're a little bit better Fanjo Grin.

Do not read further if squeamish...
I thought I was ok this morning as had a normalish movement this morning but did not have an appropriate receptacle to obtain a specimen ready, which was stupid really. Blush
I then made myself a strong coffee and had breakfast. I've since had diarrhoea 4 times! I've certainly had no difficulty obtaining a specimen which I've just dropped off at the GPs.

Hope I've not developed a coffee allergy! Brew Hmm

I'm not sure how long the results will take? I'm supposed to be back at work on Monday!!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2016 12:03

Coffee really goes for my tum always.

Am also meant to be at work on Mon.

No diarrhoea today which is good but feel shocking still.

Hope they get our samples back soon. We really are c diff twins Grin

Although am thinking I have different bug and UTI and sinus thing still.

OP posts:
SauvignonBlanche · 05/01/2016 12:11

I do hope we're not! Fingers crossed that neither of us have it.

I've just given my boss's a heads up over the phone. I've got an Occ Health appointment on Friday and am meeting her after that but don't know if we'll have a result by then. I won't be allowed back if it's positive, I work in a clinical role, in a hospital.

The only upside would be I was planning on a Dry January anyway so if I have to take a course of Metronidazole now would be the ideal time. Wink
