I am a lovely fibroid the size of an orange and I have successfully infiltrated BoffinMum's body causing all sorts of mischief

Roll up, roll up and tell us what you are up to and how big you have grown.

By the way, my role model is the alien that burst out of Sigourney Weaver's body in Alien. Except I do not plan on bursting out!

Hello fellow fibroids, Visions has recently discovered me, although I've been making my presence felt for a few years (heavy periods, crampy constipation, that kind of thing). She was plotting with the GP to "sort me out" with a Mirena coil, I don't think I fancy that at all, as I'd like to get a bit bigger than my current not-quite-4 cms and really cause some havoc Grin. But there was talk of a waiting list for a fitting clinic, so it looks like I have a bit of breathing space. Is the Mirena likely to kill me off?

BoffinMum · 07/11/2015 23:07

You have to try to ease the thing out as you grow. That is how I managed with BoffinMum. Then she went to the gynae with the golden hands and he wedged a new one right past me. I was very disappointed at this turn of events.

Being evicted tomorrow, will update with tales of homelessness!

GrinAndTonic · 11/11/2015 23:39

Hi I'm the new intern. I hope you don't mind if I just watch you all for inspiration. We are twins but quite small for our age. Grin got rid us of both about a year ago (no issues with BUPA here in Oz) but thanks to all the fertility drugs she takes we grew back in less than a year mwahahahahaha!!

BoffinMum · 12/11/2015 22:58

GeePee71, my commiserations.

Hello Brian the fibroid :)
Can I hijack the thread slightly and ask what peoples symptoms were prior to diagnosis?
I've been unwell now for months - Dr thinks I'm perimenopausal (am 43) but always had problem periods, both my mum and sis had hysterectomy before 38.
I have;
Swollen tummy
Pain in lower back and - weirdly - my calves!
Nausea
Constipation/runs
Feel just....awful :(
Had some bloods done yesterday and one was the ovarian cancer one :(
Got a (private) appt with a gynae on weds. Hoping for scans etc
Will my bloods be back by then?
am worried :(

BoffinMum · 13/11/2015 21:30

I had swollen tummy, pain, bladder problems and later on lots of bleeding and clots.

I had to have a hysteroscopy and biopsy to have cancer ruled out as well. It's a routine thing a gynae will do to cover all the bases, as I understand it. I think you just have to concentrate on the fact that it's all about to get sorted out.

OP posts:
Badders123 · 13/11/2015 21:36

Ah yes, clots! They are fun aren't they!?
I had an endometrial biopsy and scan 3.5 years ago (prior to having a coil fitted) and they were normal.
Trying not to panic

Geepee71 · 16/11/2015 16:53

I didn't have any symptoms as such, other than heavy periods and always being pale and a bit anaemic, which I blamed on being a veggie. Blood test were taken and CA 125 read, this came back as high and started process for me. I had a hysterectomy last Thursday, 12 November, so recovering from this at the moment. BoffinMum, I'm showing 8lb weight loss at mo, gotta look for that silver lining........

Badders123 · 16/11/2015 17:30

Hope you recover quickly gee Flowers
I'm quite nervous about weds.
On the one hand I'd like there to be something I can do something about but otoh I don't want to have an op Sad

Geepee71 · 16/11/2015 18:04

Bladders, can't remember how long my bloods took, depends where they are done. Results on ultrasound are pretty instant as show on screen, but sonographer wanted to send to my GP. With CT scan, results took 2 weeks and had to be relayed to me via gynea consultant. Whole process has taken about 2 months, so quick due to me using cancelled appointments.
Have been kept informed thoughtout and also looked at couple of forums re fibroids and hysterecomy. Legit forums mind! Worst thing is not knowing, then Reality if you need an op. There is a lot of support out there and people open up about their own experience when they know what you are going through.

Badders123 · 16/11/2015 18:53

Yes, it's the not knowing. And the worry they won't find any answers :(
I'm using my private medical cover which dh gets through work...I'm hoping it means I get some answers sooner.
I had the bloods done on Thursday afternoon at a local hospital (6-8 week wait for bloods at my Dr!!) So am hoping the gynae can access them on weds.

Badders123 · 17/11/2015 15:46

Phoned the Dr surgery and bloods are back and all normal (?)
I'm glad, but still feel so awful :(

BoffinMum · 17/11/2015 20:37

Badders, that's good news. Wondering if you might benefit from a super healthy diet for a while, to help you feel a bit better??

OP posts:
Badders123 · 17/11/2015 20:42

I'm going to look into the fodmap diet (for ibs sufferers)
I know I am much healthier without wheat and dairy (and think my ds2 is also)
I will let you know what the drs say x

Badders123 · 18/11/2015 13:22

Hello
I have seen gynae and am having a scan next week. He says on examination everything feels ok.
Seeing gastro tomorrow!

Geepee71 · 18/11/2015 18:19

Evening Bladders, that sounds positive, hope it's given you some comfort? G

Geepee71 · 18/11/2015 18:21

Boffinmum, how goes things for you?

Badders123 · 18/11/2015 19:37

Well...I know I'm weeing a lot, but bladders!? Grin
I feel sort of ok. It was very tender when he examined me but he said he couldn't feel anything unusual.
He surprised me Tbh because he asked me straight out if I wanted a hysterectomy! Thats going private for you I guess - I think he was relieved when i said no.
We discussed poss dx like adenomyosis, endomstriosis and poss treatment like ablation.

BoffinMum · 18/11/2015 21:28

A supermarket delivery man letched at me recently and said how much he loved pregnant women. So somewhat swollen in the belly area, it seems.

Badders123 · 19/11/2015 06:42

Ewwwwww Confused

Badders123 · 19/11/2015 17:42

Well.
Saw the gastro today and am having an abdominal ct tomorrow.
Seeing her again on Monday.
I suppose a ct will give the gynae a good pic too!

Geepee71 · 20/11/2015 22:09

Oops faux pas me Badders! Hope all went well with CT scan today and all the best for appointment on Monday.
CT should give complete picture and is better than MRI apparently, well according to my consultant.

BoffinMum · 03/10/2016 17:08

Fibroids of MN, gather around.

It has been a year. I have grown and I am now the size of a butternut squash. I successful pushed out her Mirena at the weekend (I think). There was much blood. Boff sees the consultant in a couple of weeks.

Nice to find some fibroid friends!

I was discovered after Nearly had bloods done because she felt awful a few months ago and she was anaemic. I've been giving her hell each month for years but she just assumed it was 'normal'!!

I'm 4cm and have a smaller buddy in with me. There is a possibility of a Mirena joining us soon - but I keep reminding Nearly that her migraines could get worse - that should her off.
