Just marvelling at the fact that dd1 is five and a half and has never had AB's, whereas ds is five months and has had EIGHT courses of AB's.

dd has been on ab's permanently since she was 9 months, she is now 19 mths and will probably be on them until she is 6 or 7

My son had his ear drum perforate 5 times between the ages of 9 and 18 months. He had anti biotics each time, He had one course of anti biotics at two and half when he badly cut his thumb and it got infected. At three half years old he had grommets and this led to a persistant ear infection and he had about 9 different courses of anti biotics.

I had a course of really strong anti biotics for mastoidits (A bone infection in the skull). Mastoiditits can be very serious, but the anti biotics stopped it spreading. The most common cause of mastoiditis is an untreated ear infection.

Provided you have a good doctor I dont see a problem with anti biotics. They do save lives. However there is no point in having anti biotics for something the body can easily cope with.
