oh no, that looks serious, plus upper right side. Mine is on my left ( as I look down)
I am fine, just a bit like you are when you are pregnant and burpy

Try some deflatine, usually works for me as i get a fair bit of trapped wind. However, gall stone pain can refer to left side and the back, in fact the symptoms can be a bit vague. Gall stone pain can range from mild discomfort to mind melting agony. If it continues, it might be as well to get checked out. Also what have you been eating? high fat content food can trigger gallstone pain. Although it got to the point i couldn't eat anything at all without being in agony.

Any pain in the upper abdo should mean a trip to the drs, if it carries on.
Women's heart attacks are often felt like indigestion, so if you have any risk factors- overweight, unfit etc- go to the dr.

ElizabethHoover · 11/04/2015 17:24

yes, I remember that advice. I think is def abdy though as the BURPING is so uncharacteristic

PurpleWithRed · 11/04/2015 17:24

Why can't you burp well? Do you routinely suffer from indigestion? I'm with pink - persistent abdo pain warrants a trip to the GP.

ElizabethHoover · 11/04/2015 17:27

i dunno, just am rubbish burper. I have never been able to burp.

I am such a ladeeee

I would get yourself seen. Could be cardiac could be gastritis/stomach ulcer or even pancreatitis .

TheoriginalLEM · 11/04/2015 18:10

or it could just be indigestion! Whenever i get trapped wind i find it really hard to burp (i guess thats why its called trapped wind!) Try something to shift it - whenever i take deflatine or suchlike i can follow it all around my intestine, all the way out Blush But yes, if it doesn't go, then go to the dr

ElizabethHoover · 11/04/2015 18:33

Thanks all. Googled those and Dr Hoover thinks not. I've got some deflatine (nice!) and gaviscon. If that's no good then drs

I've had a similar problem for the last few days, and the list I found included:

Trapped wind
Dairy intolerance
other allergy
gastroenteritis/food poisoning (high temperature, d/v etc) can be followed by allergy/intolerance to foods such as dairy.
acid reflux/GORD (if nasty taste in mouth)
Strained muscle (if just chest/abdo pain)
Stomach ulcer (if blood in stools)
Pericarditis (with shortness of breath, fever, fatigue, nausea etc).

I'll give mine 5 days, then get a GP appointment, and meanwhile I'm cutting out dairy as I think ut is the most likely cause for me.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 11/04/2015 22:01

Peppermint oil capsules from Holland & Barrett.
If it persists, ask for a blood test for h.pylori.
I had chronic indigestiony things for ages and was convinced I had Something Terrible. Was h. pylori and sorted with antibiotics.

Presuming it is none of the serious causes I listed above you Smile could try a few days of omeprazole (you can buy this over the counter ie in boots). It works by reducing stomach acid production and it is what is usually prescribed by doctors for heartburn/reflux .

seaoflove · 12/04/2015 07:50

I know what you mean about not being able to burp when you really need to. Trapped wind is agony. Have you tried Windeze?

nikki1978 · 12/04/2015 10:15

Drinking hot water makes you burp. As hot as you can drink it without burning your mouth. No idea why it works but it does. Got the idea from Mil.

noddyholder · 12/04/2015 10:23

Gallstones or plain old over indulgence which unfortunately happens as we get older

ElizabethHoover · 13/04/2015 07:30

Need. Pain gone. Burping still there

OP posts:
ElizabethHoover · 13/04/2015 07:31

News, rather

OP posts:
PeaceOfWildThings · 13/04/2015 16:21

Glad you are on the mend!
I am still burping too, but it no longer hurts at all to drink water.
Mine has dulled to mild discomfort when I eat, but I am still on a narrow diet of mainly brown rice, oats and non dairy milk substitute with non acidic cooked veggies, and plain cooked ground meat.

ElizabethHoover · 14/04/2015 19:35

tummy now weirdly bloaty and sore
