For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Hi Aviatrix, I will happily lend it to you - this book is doing the MN rounds. Can you CAT me with your address?

How old is ds now? Has dh ever put him to sleep? They may develop their own routine when forced to by circumstances - I know we tried when ds was quite young, but as there was never any urgent need, I always ended up taking over.

I have a theory ds knew I was still in the house, and dp obviously did, so I don't think either of them gave it their best shot IYSWIM.

ds went to sleep tonite sucking his rice milk rather than me, I am trying to reduce his feeds to 3 max over 24 hours as these colds keep hovering and I am sick of feeling crap and tired.

Have had a very lazy day today and eaten about 6 mandarins!

I am another great believer in natural progression with the babes. I have often offered alternatives for them to discover and become comfortable with - then when the alternative is supplied like rice milk then they know it. It is small steps offerred when the window of opportunity looks available. It gives a baby confidence to do it themselves.

I have read some of Mothering your Nursing your Toddler

Aviatrix - I have got so many books to read at the moment I should probably decline, thanks. It was my birthday recently and I also went to a stonking book fair the other day so I have about 30 books on my "to read" pile.

Really very clear now that we are just a load of breastfeeding freaks left on here. How marvellous, but hope we haven't put anyone else off from joining / remaining here...

oh will link to a new thread shortly
