Went in Tuesday night, op on Wednesday afternoon (within an hour of them deciding what was wrong with me!), home tonight. Very tired and weak, just off to bed in a mo

It is soooo nice to be home (though hospital was lovely!)

Blimey mioau.....I noticed you weren't around.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/10/2006 20:36

OH gosh! Glad you are okay! Bet you are glad to be home.

Your GP is crap though, no?

xxxx

southeastastra · 21/10/2006 20:36

ouch poor you!

LadyTophamHatt · 21/10/2006 20:38

sorry...that sounds all wrong.

"Blimey miaou" was about the op.
AND I had noticed you weren't around.

I got the Hope you feel better soon bit right though....

FreakyFloss · 21/10/2006 20:38

Oh no - poor you. It is done much better these days (did you have it laproscopically?) but I often think that every time someone has abdo surgery - why not whip out the appendix at the same time? After all it serves no purpose. Glad you are home safe and sound. xxx

KBear · 21/10/2006 20:40

So not diverticu....whatnot? Hope you are on the mend soon!

BlackMagicMiaou · 21/10/2006 20:42

thanks guys!!

GP not partic. crap, I wasn't a classic presentation appendicitis, and wasn't rolling around in agony, hence why they were so puzzled. My urine and blood samples were clear too, which is quite unusual, but I had a scan (same guy who scanned ds!!) and my appendix lit up like a christmas tree!! The surgeon said they could just give me antibiotics and it would just clear up, but I would be bound to be back in the future, so she might as well take it out now. So she did - literally - I went from scan to theatre in 50 minutues!

Was open surgery, not keyhole though, so I can't do anything for another week, and no heavy lifting for 2 to 3 months

Ooooh! That could be both good AND bad...(you have an EXCELLENT excuse to get DH to run around after you, but its miserable not being able to do anythign)

LUCYferKATE · 21/10/2006 20:53

glad you're feeling better, x.

Marina · 21/10/2006 21:09

Plenty of time to sit and knit and take it easy then Miaou. Have seen someone taken ill with appendicitis once, it was clearly agonising, so your unusual presentation has saved you having to be crowbarred to get you onto a trolley.
Hope you are recovering well and parcel has reached you...

hunkermunker · 21/10/2006 22:12

Oh, Miaou! I was wondering where you were!

Enjoy the rest!

Lots of love - speak soon xxxxxxxxxxx

I'm finding this sitting around lark horribly frustrating I must say. I feel ok, then get up to go to the loo, and I'm immediately knackered for an hour!! I'm not a good patient, dh is threatening to tie me to the sofa

Marina, not sure if the parcel has come actually, will ask him when he's about - he hasn't mentioned it though ...

Dh has been absolutely fab though. He says he really takes his hat off to single parents! We tend to divide the housework 50/50 and he has found the extra burden quite hard going. But when I came back the house was clean and tidy, all the washing done, kids sorted ... he even mastered ds's nappies (washable) and bathtime in my absence! What a star

Hope you're feeling a bit bettter soon, sweetie.

hunkermunker · 22/10/2006 11:59

Oh, he's a star isn't he, Miaou!

Now, with all that sitting down you'll be doing - how 'bout you work out some outlets for your lovely knitted things and design some more cross stitches? [nags]

Lots of love - have been thinking of you. I was a while before I was over my appendectomy (and I was 15 and it was during my GCSEs!) x x x x

BlackMagicMiaou · 22/10/2006 12:10

ooo, not nice hunker!!!

Yup, I'm going to give it all some serious thought you know! A friend has offered to take some designs down to Edinburgh at the beginning of November, but it's too soon, I won't be ready by then . She's very keen though.

How is work going?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 22/10/2006 12:12

Can you do one design for her to take?

Work's fab - I'm really enjoying it. And the boys are having a whale of a time with their GPs

BlackMagicMiaou · 22/10/2006 12:19

Oh, that's good hunker! Glad you are enjoying it. I am really missing mine !

I would love to do something for her to take, but it's the machine-knitted stuff I want to concentrate on, and I need to do a lot of experimenting first. Just too physical for me to do right now . They put the frighteners on me in hospital about doing too much too soon and giving myself a hernia

SherlockLGJ · 22/10/2006 13:58

Oh Miaou...

Glad to hear you are ok.

I nearly lost my brother to peretonitis, because he had no pain, until it was nearly too late.

They rushed him to theatre and whipped them out so fast they left him with a hernia that made him look 6 months pregnant.

He was on holidays in Spain.

He then had to have an operation at home to have that corrected which they did successfully but it left him with no belly button.

suedonim · 22/10/2006 21:13

Sympathies, Miaou and get well soon. I also had atypical symptoms but fab GP had a hunch it was appendix and he wa spot on.

When I asked the senior nurse about dos and don't she just said with a wink 'Absolutely no housework for six weeks.'
