sex, sex, sex...

southeastastralplain · 02/10/2006 10:55

drink is so bad for me. it makes me go weird. i wish i could drink like other people but it just doesn't react the same way with me.

fatfox · 02/10/2006 11:01

A huge Mug of all-milk Hot Chocolate

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 02/10/2006 11:02

Yoga
Bath
Reading
Fizzy water
Herbal tea
If I feel energetic, housework. (Yes really. I feel righteously relaxed if I do half an hour in the evening.)

The other thing is not to buy it. If it's not in the house, you can't drink it.

Gobbledispook · 02/10/2006 11:02

I eat chocolate mostly. A nice cup of tea or malted horlicks and a Cadbury's twirl. Can't beat it!

misdee · 02/10/2006 11:05

to relax, i get a good book to read, or watch a film (have watched masses of films over the last 2years due to having no-one about in the evenings). occasionally i will have a fill on hot choc, with cream marshmellows etc. i have also taken up doll restoration as well, but cant only do that when my hands arent playing up.

anhd the ultimate way to relax, is a lovely bubbly bath, candles, and radio/cd playing out in teh hall on low.

Blimey, it's relaxing me just reading this...zzzzzzzzzzzz...

I watch DVDs, but they have to be good ones - eg Brokeback Mountain was fabulous. And I come on here of course. I also drink decaff coffee made with all milk - probably not ideal, but it works for me. And I have a couple of books on the go so I can pick one I'm in the mood for.

Good luck, Essbee I can't drink much any more because I'm prone to high blood pressure: that element of threat - plus I feel dreadful when my BP goes up - keeps me on the wagon. It's fine once you're used to it.

southeastralplain we were worried about you!! Glad you're ok though

I have a hot candlelit bath with relaxing music or maybe lit but with mags to read? Also like lying on the bed with crystals placed wherever needed? I'm into crystal healing, used to think it was a load of tosh until I got into it and it's amazing!
Also find having a good natter very relaxing.
Meditation is ok too. Plus having a hobby helps. A mate swears by knitting but I'll pass on that

SaintGeorge · 02/10/2006 11:26

Sex
Meditation
Weed

Not always in that order but quite often together.

southeastastralplain · 02/10/2006 11:27

thanks uly i posted a reply to last nights thread but keep deleting the reply, can't get my words out. feel a wally. i hate the booze.

speedymama · 02/10/2006 11:27

I drink on average a small glass of wine about once a month! I relax by cooking, reading, watching a DVD or TV, learning German, knitting, crocheting, exercising, listening to radio, playing cards or board games with DH or just by talking with DH.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 02/10/2006 11:29

I've cut down to drinking only one or two nights at the most a week since doing slimming world. Tbh i'm not missing drinking through the week at all and it's great to wake up with a clear head. I always felt fuzzy the next day even if i'd only had 2 glasses of wine the night before. Now I always make sure i've got a good book so I have the option of going to bed early and read, I exercise for 30 mins most nights which really helps destressing and my favourite sober nights in are a nice long bath and a pile of crap magazines (you know the ones take a break, Celeb mags etc).

aaronsmummyhaslosttheplot · 02/10/2006 11:29

Hun, I find music does it for me. I don't go out at night very much as I can;t find anyone to look after ds2 (asd) as he is so violent. I love a drink in the evenings but it can get so I can;t do without it. I shut myself in the conservatory with my fave cd in the dark. If I do the bath/candles thing I get interrupted by one of the children needing a wee etc and climbing in. I have a rule that I only have a drink twice a week. I like a dvd but if I watch soaps I get into the plot and that's not condusive to being chilled as there isn't a natural end like there is with a film.

I know it's tough but I don't think we are allowed to relax until they grow up and leave home lol.

UlySCREAMS · 02/10/2006 11:30

southeast, don't worry hun. Do you want me to say you're ok on it? You're anonymous on here anyway so you can say whatever's on your mind, that's what we're here for hun

southeastastralplain · 02/10/2006 11:32

i'll post on it. thanks uly

Elibean · 02/10/2006 11:34

If I'm extra stressed, depending on the sort of stress, the best de-stressor I know is a good cry - in the pre-dd days I'd put some weepy music on, or a soppy film. Alternatively beating up some cushions can be relaxing ultimately or putting on some very loud music and dancing around (out of sight of neighbours).

If I just want to unwind a bit, flop on sofa with book...call a friend...watch tv...make myself a 'grown up' non-alcoholic drink (tonic water, fizzy water with ginger/elderflower/cranberry, cup of tea etc)...take a bath/shower...go for a walk.

Stretch, do a few exercises...sit somewhere I never usually sit in the house...

And, good for you - may you reap the benefits [smile}

Dottydot · 02/10/2006 11:53

I put the kids to bed as early as possible, make a coffee and watch telly - zone out! I used to drink for England but it just makes me feel really rough in the mornings now so I only drink on special occasions now.

Im pretty much teetotal - just not into drinking.

I like a cup of hot choc, hot bath, card making - anything mind numbing really! (Probably why i spend so much time on pc or in front of telly!)

Once 7pm hits - its MY time.... i dont do anything to please anyone - not even DH.

Spliff - hmmmmmm, very tempting, but at the moment not a good idea!

hunkermunster · 02/10/2006 16:20

I go for a swim. Or I chat to DH. Or I go on MN. Or I eat some bread and jam. Or (more recently) I cook.

hunkermunster · 02/10/2006 16:20

Ooh, yes, I write or I draw or I make something.

NastyNemo666 · 02/10/2006 16:21

rarely drink...relax by doing craft stuff, computer, hot choccie and a read after a bath.

expatinscotland · 02/10/2006 16:21

I also write letters.

On paper.

With a pen.

MsBionic · 02/10/2006 19:05

I've really been bothered with drinking but what I do do is occasionally binge when out which isn't very clever I know but I have fun at the time. Most of my friends drink every night usually because they feel they deserve it after a hard day (and quite right too!) whereas I've never felt the need. What makes me relax is a wallow in the bath with a good book or watch a film or I could S**g my husband I suppose!!
