ok franny isn't here so I've done it. Cos I'm like that

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Late nights up to no good may be all very well Papillon, but fisting your cousin is just going too far

foulmoonfiend · 07/10/2006 17:40

Just popping in to say I've fallen off the applecart....

Very bad couple of weeks, just lost one of my jobs, very skint and stressed about forthcoming birthdays, xmas etc. Have been finding too much solace in wine, cake and fags to be allowed to play here anymore.....

Probably only been scraping 3 or 4 portions a day.
You'd better fumigate after I've gone, or I may pollute you all with my unhealthyness.

Still, looking on the bright side, will have 2 days a week spare now - so will have time to cook properly and take better care of things.

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2006 18:08

Aw no, Moony

I am very sorry to hear that

Please come and visit us whenever you want, we will only encourage and support, not criticise you I promise. Cake is very soothing I always find and not to be underestimated, in any case. Hope things look up for you asap

Papillon · 07/10/2006 18:39

(((fmf))) take a rest and come soon and regale us of foul moons cleared.

lol I knew you would pull me up on that Franny, go to the ostopath Monday so hopefully my type will improve after that!

Feel like I should be blushing after all that and now admit I must away and stretch before a round of playstation with dh tonite!!

Judy1234 · 07/10/2006 19:12

Not sure I often get up to 10. Without having seen this thread so far today 2 bananas and apple after lunch (3), broccoli with lunch may be 2 as there was quite a bit. Dinner - 2 large carrots - 2. Apple juice. So up to about 8.

I have often binge eaten fruit by the way, particularly between meals. If you're quite sugar sensitive the fructose in it might not always be the best thing to eat I'm probably the only person in England who can get fat eating massive quantities of cherries and strawberries, 4 bananas at a sitting etc. Veg for is the much better route to go. Doesn't taste anything like as good. I don't get my sugar hit with it.

beegee · 07/10/2006 20:16

Not a bad day for me...
banana & raspberry smoothie with bio yoghurt for breakfast. Some grapes and raw carrot for snack. Mackeral with salad for supper - rocket, tomatoes, mushrooms...so only 6 but going in the right direction...up, up and away!!

Went swimming with the children but i just held them without doing any swimming myself. They're still at sinking age. Doesn't really count but it's given me an appetite for exercise so tomorrow i'm going to a pilates/yoga class followed by an hour of aerobic. AND I'm really looking forward to it.

OK - off to have a peice of walnut cake i bought from a farm shop today!! Support local farmers rah rah rah.

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2006 21:23

Hmm I am pondering all that Xenia. I did buy a load of veg today, with the intention yet again of increasing the proportion of veg in my fruit and veg. But it is hard, I only really eat veg with my evening meal. It is not something I snack on (need an energy boost, ie something with calories in, when snacking) and preparing veg for lunch is just too much of a faff.

Today I had grapes, apple, pear, raisins, satsuma, soya milk, dried apricots, broccoli, carrots and sweetcorn. Must eat more veg. Hmmm.

Beegee it all sounds very good - let us know how the classes go tomorrow.

hey aviatrix you're back! woohoo! (not in a sims2 way, of course )

am off allotmenteering this morning.

franny, dunno if this helps but I blend up veg with cheese/beans and use them as a dip/spread for bread etc for lunch. its pretty quick. eg carrots/cheese/tahini/soy sauce on bread

also, easy to eat finger food veg like mushrooms, courgette (raw), carrots. tomatoes take minutes and go down well with fillyboy and fillygirl.

She wouldn't think much of my lunch today either..shredded cabbage, carrots, leeks, peppers, water chestnuts, celery, mushrooms (shitake, chestnut and oyster), egg noodles, tuna and prawns in cream with black pepper, lemongrass, ginger and sesame seeds, sprinkled with dried ground spiced fish, with prawn crackers and warm satay sauce (peanut puree, sesame oil, honey)

It was a big claggy stodgy stinky oily MESS, and it tasted heavenly

Papillon · 08/10/2006 15:52

Have had Bircher Museli stuffed with Mango, apple and grapes last 3 days - so am feeling very Swiss.

And today we had lovely Italian lunch in a restaurant, there was a group of locals in in traditional folk costume singing at their table. It twas so angelic, felt like I was in Church!

Beautiful autumn day here

((((fmf))))) hope your weekend is going well and you are pampering yourself x
