My sister is convinced that we are all doomed. I prefer not to think like that, but do you think that she is right?

No.

Bowlersarm · 14/10/2014 18:56

No.

RedlipsAndSlippers · 14/10/2014 18:58

Probably not.

Galena · 14/10/2014 18:58

No.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/10/2014 18:58

No, not unless it mutates severely. It's not airborne and it doesn't have a 100% mortality rate so even if everyone on the planet somehow got it humanity would survive.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 14/10/2014 18:58

Oh that's cheery. No I don't think it will be.

Pagwatch · 14/10/2014 18:58

It might be because every time I hear shite spouted about it I want to kill someone. So give me a few years and who knows.

AuntieStella · 14/10/2014 18:58

No.

But infectious disease (not necessarily these outbreaks) could reduce significantly the human population of this overcrowded planet.

And exponential rise of a disease with 70% fatalities is concerning.

BlotOnTheLandscape · 14/10/2014 19:00

Pagwatch me too, but as she's my sister I'd rather not go down that route!

OP posts:
WerkSupp · 14/10/2014 19:00

No

BeginnersLuck · 14/10/2014 19:01

No - the reason the situation is so bad in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea is because they don't have functioning health systems. The UK and other high income countries will be fine.

elportodelgato · 14/10/2014 19:01

I luffs you Pag Thanks

No. We will be done in by climate change before Ebola gets us

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 14/10/2014 19:02

Oh I hope not. I finally got round to fixing the squeaky door and I'll be annoyed if I'm not around to enjoy the silence.

YouAreAMouseInAMaze · 14/10/2014 19:02

No. It's not even that contagious. And has killed, what, a few thousand people?

Spanish 'flu killed between 50 - 100 MILLION people.

The Black Death wiped out 1/3 of the population of Europe.

If you're lucky enough to live in the UK, Ebola isn't really worth worrying about.

grocklebox · 14/10/2014 19:02

there is a whole topic just for this ridiculous uninformed nonsense ebola talk, can't you take this there?

ArsenicFaceCream · 14/10/2014 19:03

Pag Grin

Bowlersarm · 14/10/2014 19:04

It won't be Ebola that gets us all.

There'll be something at some stage though

Stratter5 · 14/10/2014 19:04

I still don't believe in climate change.

I doubt very much that ebola will do for us either. Your sister's forgetting it's not 100% fatal, not easily transmitted, and not mutating to become airborne.

Flu, on the other hand...

morethanpotatoprints · 14/10/2014 19:06

Pag Grin love you x

AuntieStella · 14/10/2014 19:10

There are very few diseases with a CFR higher than Ebola (smallpox, rabies, some forms of plague, prion diseases like CJD, anthrax, and that's about it,isn't it?)

GalensOyster · 14/10/2014 19:12

It won't be Ebola for various reasons. My money is on a meteorite! Just need a big enough one.

Stratter5 · 14/10/2014 19:12

My money is still on a Zombie Apocalypse

SauvignonBlanche · 14/10/2014 19:13

No, but try posting in the Ebola topic and you might find someone to agree with such nonsense.
