Why can't I stop eating?

I'm desparate to lose weight & during the day can be very controlled but as soon as the 3 dd's have gone to bed I lose all discipline & just cannot stop eating. Please advise how to stop, it is such a comfort to me after a tiring day with the 3 little 'uns

Why don't you have a drink instead?

I've got a lovely red here just now.

How do you find time to eat w/three kids?

I have two and forget breakfast most of the time.

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:26

Unfortunately having a red or white just increases my appetite!

Try smoking cigarettes.

MrsSpoon · 22/09/2006 21:27

You could try eating cigarettes?

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:29

Blimey Mrs Spoon, sounds a bit drastic, is that wot you do?

Why don't you try cooking something delicious and filling like a veggie curry or big Irish stew. Both of these can be low cal but yummy and you could pick all night.

I love olives and a whole pot is about 150cal. I also like lowfat cheesespread triangles on crisp bread - again you can have loads for very few cals.

Expat, I always find time to eat.

Self controll?

Crackle · 22/09/2006 21:32

Such good advice, I posted it twice.

MrsSpoon · 22/09/2006 21:34

Well apparently I did when I was a small child. I was found sitting behind the sofa munching my way through a pack. These days I quite like Homous and carrot sticks, although struggle to get through this without a glass of wine.

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:36

lacrimosa, I would love self control but seem to have none, how do you get it??

Do you equate eating food with relaxing? I'm an 'evening eater' as well!! Food is very easily tied in with my emotions iykwim, so see evening child-free time as relaxing=food. Have to agree with expatinscotland tho - tonight i am on the red wine, and have not felt the urge to eat SO FAR!!!

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:39

I am so jealous as wine just makes me want to eat every thing in sight!!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 22/09/2006 21:39

you get it from being so vain you can't deal w/the idea of being overweight.

Peggotty · 22/09/2006 21:40

I think I will eat everything in sight at some point. Don't want food to interfere with the effects of the alcohol yet

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:41

Enjoy Peggotty!!

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:47

Here is my secret then, gosh: stop drinking two hours before you go to bed.

Works every time.

Peggotty · 22/09/2006 21:51

And pint of water before bed too.

goshme · 22/09/2006 21:52

ok, will get a pint glass ready!!

"Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels"

Whatever that means

3andnomore · 23/09/2006 11:44

Have you ever tried SW...you can eat loads , it just have to be certian things...but it really works, you don't feel deprived of food

puff · 23/09/2006 11:48

goshme - what is a typical day's eating for you? Just wondering whether you are eating enough during the day. I used to eat v little and then gorge on rubbish at night because I was so hungry.

goshme · 23/09/2006 16:57

Puff, that could be my problem too, I don't really have time to eat during the day as am running after 3 little uns! Is it easy to change?
