I really really don't want to go for my hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon.

about 6 months ago, my consultant persuaded me to have the mirena coil fitted.

I am due to have it done tomorrow and REALLY REALLY don't want it done, but he has said that he won't do any other treatment until I at least give it a go.

I've been a mess all day, I feel so sick at the thought of having it done.

I am really really dreading it.

Any advice - tips?

Hey all, just really feel up to coming on commie.

It was a total nightmare, don't know how long the procedure usually takes, but, it took 40 minutes and was agony, I passed out at one point for a few seconds.

I've been laid on the sofa with really bad cramps since then and feel really sick, hopefully the cramps will calm down, I've been taking paracetamol and co-codamol.

I go back in 4 months for a check up.

Radley, it should take about 4 minutes (plus consultation), sorry you had such a tough time

But well done you on going through it and I hope that you get some relief as a result.

(((hug))) think you deserve one! (and that glass of wine )

I'm with Mud.

WTF?! So HE is w/holding other forms of treatment?!

Sorry, but I'd have complained about him to the GMC.

foxinsocks · 19/09/2006 21:01

poor you radley

mine took a while to fit (have retroverted uterus and a 'hard to find' (!) cervix) but was prob more like 15 mins than 40 mins

hope you feel better soon

lilymolly · 19/09/2006 21:02

Oh sweetie...

Really sorry you had such a bad time. Although I have not had a coil fitted, it does not sound like it was done in the correct fashion iyswim. Do hope your ok.
If its any consulation when I had cervical assessment when I was induced, I leapt off the bed and screamed!! so I can totally sympathise.
Lots of loves and hugs to you

Thanks you all for both asking about me and your replies.

Luckily dh was home all day yesterday and today, but, he is back at work tomorrow and I am back to doing the school run. I am going to take some more painkillers etc and go to bed soon, hopefully I won't feel as sick/crampy tomorrow.

I'm sure I read somewhere that I should have a check-up in approx 6 weeks, but my next appointment isn't until the end of January, also, I wasn't told how to check the strings.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks, I hope I do too, I don't know whether it is because of the painkillers, or the fact I've not eaten much (except for chocolate), but I'm really spaced out and exeptionally tired, I've been dozing on and off all day now.

Im very proud of you and am sure you will feel tonnes better soon, lots of luvs and cups of tea and chocs with odd glass of wine xxxxxx
