Fear of being sick - emetophobia

I have read with great interest the number of messages on this site concerning fear of being sick (emetophobia). I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in London and treat many ladies suffering from this unpleasant phobia. Emetophobia is the fifth most common phobia but it is rarely highlighted in the media because it is (according to an editor I spoke to recently) too yucky to read about in a newspaper!
This is an extremely complex phobia that can lead to a number of other issues such as fear of pregnancy, fear of flying, claustrophobia, social phobia, fear of eating out, fear of travelling, fear of illness and in extreme cases sufferers are fearful of leaving their own homes.
Using Regression Hypnotherapy, the subconsciously hidden root cause of the issue can be located and subsequently fixed.

Twoisenoughmum, does the brandt actually work? I dont like spirits but I would be willing to try if it stopped you getting the BUG and how much would you need to drink? (I have no idea when it comes to spirits!)

Don't know - I take it the second I start feeling yukky & it normally does the trick.
A colleague took it while suffering from a nasty bug & said it was only after taking PB, that she actually stopped being sick.
I always have some in the house when bugs are about.

My hat off to you- I am actually in the Recpetion Class as a TA. I think that you being a teacher must be really hard, as I know how much I have panicked in the past!

When I was struggling I would walk everywhere-although that then presents its own fear in what if my DC are ill then I have to walk them home. If there was sickness in the sch then I wouldnt take them on a car journey on my own. If I have things planned then I would usually carry them out but just panic to myself! I hated leaving my DC in sch when I knew there was sickness around- made me feel a really bad parent!!!!

Thank you for this thread, I have sent off for that CD at start of the thread, hope it works, cause I feel like going on a desert island, then again if I'm ill would be no doctors, second thoughts, I'll trade my DH in for a Doctor and live on a desert island! that way the DC can come!

sleepysooz · 14/02/2007 22:22

Sorry I can't read all the posts as it makes me feel sick if I read someone sick!

Will do, as long as I don't have to face my fear to get rid of it like they do with spider phobias! aaaaaggghh! thats another story, and the dentist, and restaurants and pubs and cars, better stop there before I have a panic attack, just send me someone with a straight jacket and lock me away!
