Fear of being sick - emetophobia

I have read with great interest the number of messages on this site concerning fear of being sick (emetophobia). I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in London and treat many ladies suffering from this unpleasant phobia. Emetophobia is the fifth most common phobia but it is rarely highlighted in the media because it is (according to an editor I spoke to recently) too yucky to read about in a newspaper!
This is an extremely complex phobia that can lead to a number of other issues such as fear of pregnancy, fear of flying, claustrophobia, social phobia, fear of eating out, fear of travelling, fear of illness and in extreme cases sufferers are fearful of leaving their own homes.
Using Regression Hypnotherapy, the subconsciously hidden root cause of the issue can be located and subsequently fixed.

You will be fine BB. You are like me - never sick. Last time I was sick (apart from a couple of over-eating experiences when I was a student ) was when I was 9. I am now 42.

The not being able to go to your child is the worst bit, isn't it? You feel so guilty and so lacking as a mother. If this leads you to get help, then think of it as a good thing - or a bad thing with a good consequence.

My children are used to the fact that when they are ill, they have to go to their father. Dh is even used to the fact that I am not going to suddenly become able to deal with them! But I have to say, if your dp wasn't there right now, you would be dealing with it and you would be coping. I know because I have had to deal with it sometimes and I have to cope. So don't beat yourself up too much. I know how you are feeling, but there is no reason why dp shouldn't be the one to deal with this crisis today. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Yes, that is excellent that you have a counsellor you can turn to as quickly as that. Well done. You are being proactive and you need to acknowledge that, and be proud of that if nothing else.

Thinking of you belgianbun and sending lots of calm and positive vibes in your direction. Breathe deeply. You will get through this.

Back right away from google! I work in a hool & the rule with tummy bugs is that they cannot return to school until they have been D&V free for 24 hours, for risk of infecting other pupils. Have NEVER heard the 3 week thing before!!
It may not be a bug at all. DD could have eaten something that hasn't agreed with her, or she could vomit as a result of something like an ear infection or tonsilitis.
My DS threw up for 5 days & I presumed he had a nasty stomach bug, but on seeing a doctor on day 5, it turned out to be tonsilitis.
