Me too - they are shorter and pain free

TMI possibly but this month I couldn't put my mooncup in (sciatica...so I couldn't reach) and long period and pain again

I agree with the less pain bit, but still getting long heavy periods . Also leaking alot this period, sometimes due to over flow, but think my technique needs tweaking. i do rotate it after insertion to try and stop leaks, got that advice from here. i wonder if I am not getting it in quick enough, but it's difficult sometimes, esp as so much blood its almost too slippery

Yep, I think it's something to do with the fact they're not leaching ALL your internal moisture like a tampon would. And with a pad I'm always tense and worry about leaks, and not being relaxed equates to more pain.

That's my theory anyway

my mooncup arrived today (as did AF, 6 days late - very weird timing!) It's fab so far! I was a bit worried when I got it out the box but surprisingly easy to use.. am loving it and I've not had any cramps like I normally would... LOVE it!

My periods hurt less and are short at 2 days on, 1 night off then another little bit just to catch me out...wise to that not though

It [labour pain] definitely hurts more if you're uptight and fearful, ime. If you force yourself to relax it's easier to deal with too. Not totally convinced by the complete relaxation = no pain argument of childbirth though

Mind you, I was fairly relaxed with my epidural - does that count?

Back to periods though, when I had really bad period pain as a teen, I was prescribed muscle relaxants and they made quite a difference, so doesn't take a great mental leap to suppose that holding your body in a state of tension does rack up the pain every month.

overrun - don't know the answer but if you find it let me know. It sounds to me like I am in a similar situation to you. And while I love the mooncup I can not always rely on it 100% because of fear of leakage. Since this was also the case with tampons (in fact probably worse) I have not lost anything.
