I am the biggest slattern. I have never boiled, dishwashed or anything. I clean it out in the shower in the morning with a quick squirt of shower gel. Other than that it is either a quick rinse or a quick wipe. It is stained though.

Treat your Mooncup well, and it will treat you well .

trinity - I wouldn't rule out getting a mooncup just yet... I was all set to order one last year but got BFP. I figured I wouldn't need one for a long time but AF arrived month after DS was born - and that's with bfing! At least it means I can use a mooncup!

as for the cleaning - I didn't do the whole boiling it before using it the first time... I must be a real slut - I just gave it a good wash and used it

bit of a tangent but why do things go orange in the dishwasher?

Beetroot · 13/09/2006 10:03

Is it possible that the mooncup coudl have been the reason I had a UTI for the first tiem in 20 years??

monkeytrousers · 13/09/2006 10:04

I just gave my mooncup to DS to keep him occupied for 5 mins

longwaytogo · 13/09/2006 10:05

asur anything with tomatoe on it will make all your plastic go orange, just give a quick rinse before putting in dishwasher should aleviate the problem.

BUNNY75 · 13/09/2006 11:00

so, just to confirm, i can get it from boots, and how much does it cost?

charliecat · 13/09/2006 11:03

15-20 quid, but you wont have to buy tampons/pads every again and it lasts for years. it was 3 for 2 in boots, you could buy 3 and sell the others on ebay making yours free!

BUNNY75 · 13/09/2006 11:07

nice one! sounds like a right little earner! i'm off down boots today!

poppiesinaline · 13/09/2006 11:24

aitch71 pmsl at 'was THAT a vaginal birth'

stilll at you lot. I seem to be the only one that the mooncup is having the opposite affect.

dazzlincaz - Im 36 so not quite 40 yet I was going to see how it goes next month and if it carries on I will pop along to the GP. Hoping she wont want to put me on the pill - am yet to find one that agrees with me so DH very kindly went off for the snip last year He wont be chuffed!

asur · 13/09/2006 11:35

thank you longwaytogo - I don't have a dishwasher, was just curious

right mooncup related question now...I seem to be peeing more often just now - is it the mooncup causing it or is it just coincidence?

dazzlincaz · 13/09/2006 13:59

poppiesinaline - write down what is happening with your periods and take it with you to show the GP. Being 36 it is unlikely that the irregularities and problems you have been experiencing are perimenopause (though some women do go through this early) - it may be that you have a thyroid problem which is disrupting your cycle. You really do need to see your GP to get this looked at - there may be a very simple solution. It is easy to put off, I know (been there, done that ) but that volume of loss you describe will make you anaemic as you can't possibly take in enough iron in your diet to make up for what you're losing.

We often compensate and excuse our tiredness for other things, being busy, etc etc, but eventually it makes you feel sooooo drained and it is harder to play catch up then. In answer to your question, I don't think that the mooncup is anything to with your periods being heavier. What is DOES however, is give you a very accurate guide on volume of loss, and as they information on the Mooncup website says that in the average period a woman will lose the equivalent of three mooncupfuls, it is evident that what you are enduring is way beyond the norm.
