your son wants to find some slugs not watch you boil your mooncup

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 11:43

Shall I market a Mooncup timer that pings after 5 mins?

TooTicky · 07/09/2006 11:44

Boiling it? Won't it perish? Or is it some necessary ritual? I'm not really up on modern-day wicca...

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 11:45

He's asleep Boris. He loves my Mooncup. Every time we have boiled eggs he says "Mummy why aren't you using your special egg cup?"

You have to sterilise it every month, TooTicky. I boil mine. It's great, I feel like Grandma Walton for some reason.

I'm eternally grateful to MN for introducing me to the Mooncup.

Adios, dodgy tampons!

TooTicky · 07/09/2006 11:47

I'm going to get a mooncup but am reluctant to go out and buy one for fear of tempting my periods back...

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 11:48

Yup it has taken me all this time to pluck up courage but I have taken to it like a lentil weaver to hummus

I bloody love it, can't believe I was scared of it

OP posts:
TooTicky · 07/09/2006 11:49

...but I WILL be buying it from my local fairtrade, ethical supermarket, Who Cares, in Melksham. Love that shop, just gotta keep plugging it!

southeastastra · 07/09/2006 11:50

quick ikky question, can you use them if you have a coil, or would the wire type things affect suction

MrsWednesday · 07/09/2006 11:51

Any tips to share on mooncup usage? I just used it for the first month and found it quite uncomfortable and a bit leaky.

FrannyandZooey · 07/09/2006 11:59

Sorry SEA, have no idea

MrsW, have you cut the tail off? (or nearly all off) Where is the discomfort? Sounds like the tail could be too long and is rubbing inside you, plus dislodging it perhaps. Or you need the other size?

OP posts:
MrsWednesday · 07/09/2006 12:23

Thanks Franny. The tail is off already, and I'm feeling discomfort inside which suggests I'm not managing to get it in the right position. I've already got the bigger sized one unfortunately

I will not be defeated by it . Will persevere next month...

ellenrose · 07/09/2006 12:29

SE - wanted to know if you can use with a coil as well. Will bump in case anyone else knows.

MamaG · 07/09/2006 12:35

I'm horribly drawn to the mooncup threads

Flamesparrow · 07/09/2006 12:41

I have a little travel baby bottle steriliser that I chuck mine in (I know it would be a burnt mess if I tried to boil it and not forget)

Flamesparrow · 07/09/2006 12:42

I am assuming you can - not had period yet so can't test (coil that is)

expatinscotland · 07/09/2006 12:55

So true, Franny!

I've also noticed my periods are lighter since using it.

BarefootJasnem · 07/09/2006 13:09

Yes you can definitely use it with a coil.

BonyM · 07/09/2006 13:14

The Mooncup is a wonderful thing. Have just got back from hols and it was so great not to have to pack boxes of tampons.

Took me 3 months to really get the hang of it completely (and that after it had been sat in the drawer for 4mths while I plucked up courage to try it!) but there's no turning back now!

PandaG · 07/09/2006 13:26

Used mine for the first time last week. So far so good - another thing to thank MN for introducing me to. I agree expat - my period was lighter too.

southeastastra · 07/09/2006 13:27

thanks barefootjasnem
