MMR, worried after reading the other thread. Anyone have positive experiences? Did you let your lo have it, and are they fine?

Ds is due his, and we are going to let him have it. But after reading the other thread, I'm now worried.

How many of you have let your lo's have it, and it's been fine?

I had to stop reading it too, ds is 5.6 with suspected AS.

Yes I did, but his problems did'nt come to light until I had dts who also have had the MMR, they are 2.8 now and seem perfectly fine.

My three all had it and they are 7, 5, 3, all fine.

my 3 yo has had it and was fine and my 17 mo will have it when the time comes too

Both ds1 (6yrs) and ds2 (3.5yrs) had the MMR and were absolutely fine. They are both autistic but this is completely unrelated as both had traits long before the MMR. Dd is too young but will have it when she is older.

my ds had it and is fine and 8 other kids i know that had it are fine, have not met anyone personally that had it and was not fine

Hi Panicpants. We had decided to go for it too, but later rather than sooner after perhaps reading a little too much (again). But we're off to Canada in 2 weeks and hv kind of pushing to do it now as "you don't want him catching anything on your holiday" and it's making me feel a little pressured when I wanted to leave it a few months, I certainly don't want him suffering side effects on our holiday. Had you decided on a date-ish?

dd1 and dd2 had it-were fine and only had their booster 5 yrs later. Now it comes to ds1 and am nervous.

Both mine had it, a couple of months later dd1 then dd2 then my Mam caught measles, My mam was very ill (she had neverhad a jab for it), dd1 was fine , dd2 was slightly ill but was left with hearing probs (hopefully sorted now) and I always think about how ill they could have been if they hadn't had any injections against Measles.

i had it as a kid and the booster as did every child i went to school with (were done in school for the boosters) and we were all fine. dd had it and was fine. far more worried about her getting measales or rubella tbh as both of them have been doing the rounds over here and they can be deadly or leave the child with permanent damage.

People working on the autism/MMR link would probably say now that around 7% of cases of autism are triggered by MMR. That's a very small number. Rather than ask people to say that their children have been fine after it (given the "hit" rate, 99.9% of people receiving the MMR will be OK) - you would be better off looking at the risk factors for MMR. I'ts not easy to say what the risk factors are, but a family history of gut issues such as crohn's disease would probably want you to think carefully, or of course other vaccine damage in the family.

Personally I would give extra vitamin A (preferably in the form of retinol rather than beta-carotene) and vitmain C before MMR (although don't go overboard on vitamin A, it's toxic in high quantities).

after a lot of thought and reading dd had her first one at 15 months and her booster this week at 19 months (in London they like giving them close together for some reason - I think because measles is particularly rife in the area). So far so good ! The worst bit (I hope) was at 19 months she knew something was going on and fought to get out of my grip .

both my children are fine.
I thought the study that said about autism being linked had been discounted as bad research. also autism starts to show at the same age so you know..

would you rather have a child with autism or a dead child that died from complications to do with measles, that the way I thought about it and I just did it.

wow, that is a breathtakingly ignorant post HMo2. Those on here that haven't vaccinated have not done it as a reaction to a misleading newspaper article. None of them are advocating that others do not vaccinate as it would be irresponsible to do so. You seem to have no respect for the intelligence of these mothers who in some cases have children that are indisputably vaccine damaged.
