New thread!

OP posts:

And just because it's discussed in the MDT doesn't mean it's cancer. Thank you wren for that sentence. Ofcourse I did Google MDT and all it kept saying is that they discuss course of action when diagnosed with cancer. I didn't get a letter like this after the last 2 check ups,so it really worried me. I will look at McMillan site now. Thanks again Smile, you to Malt

reallyreallyworried · 27/05/2014 23:04

Hi malt I'm physically doing okay, Thankyou. My skin is looking good, amazing how quick it seemed to clear up!

How are you? Doing anything nice for half term, or just enjoying a break from work? Xx

Hi Malt, thanks for asking. I'm a bit shaky post tax, but moving in the right direction I think. My eldest sister is staying, which I love - she's the supportive type and it means the washing up isn't stacking up. I'm sure there are others on this thread who have got their children to step up chores-wise, but mine are still a bit absent minded (polite phrasing) when it comes to household stuff. I'm torn between keeping things normal, and demanding more action. Next phase soon, with Moogoo products at the ready for radiotherapy - date now fixed for 3 3/4 weeks after chemo.

MyNewNormal · 28/05/2014 03:11

Fabulous news honey!

JustWonderingAbout · 28/05/2014 05:12

Honey, that's just fantastic news. I hope that he continues to put his weight back on and feel better.

I agree that MDT don't just discuss cancer.

MyNewNormal · 28/05/2014 08:03

Yey, I've put 2kg on! Very happy as doc was concerned about my rapid weightloss due to chemo. Very nervous again this week as tomorrow I'll have blood tests to see if my neutrophils are up and I can go ahead with chemo after last week's delay...

malteserzz · 28/05/2014 10:08

Really glad you're ok physically at least, I think emotionally does take longer. We went down to the inlaws by the sea for a long weekend which was nice, back home now and just chilling

Wren I do think tax takes it out of you a lot. Glad your sister is helping. My kids don't do a lot either, older one better than the younger who will wait for me to get up and get his breakfast as he's too lazy to do it himself, he's nearly 11 !

Normal glad to hear of your weight gain :) good luck for your levels this week

Another rainy horrid day here !

ConsiderablyBiggerBuns · 28/05/2014 10:44

honey that is wonderful news. You have been such a support for him throughout, you deserve this news as much as him.
wren glad to hear my kids aren't the only ones that can 'forget' to be helpful - was all very well after my op, when I was functioning pretty well but I keep trying to forewarn my 2 that 6 rounds of chemo might be a different story.
mynewnormal that's sounds like good news! wish I could send you a few more pounds from me.
really glad you are on the mend.
I'm afraid I don't have any advice re lumpectomy scars or calcification. I would say mrs that I have some major scars from my BMX and SNC and none of them were sore as you describe so get it checked out.

mrsrhodgilbert · 28/05/2014 11:59

Morning all and thank you for replying yet again. I'm much more comfortable this morning, the pain seems to have subsided. I've also had a letter to say my appt with the surgeon to get the results from last weeks op will be this Friday, not next week as I was expecting. Took a bit of a gulp when I read it, but of course it's much less of a wait. I assume all dressings will come off then so I'll be able to get advice as well as finding out what's next.

wineoclocktimeye · 28/05/2014 14:10

great news Honey and I'm glad your feeling better Really and mrs.

Still feeling quite sore from the bmx, can't believe it's only a week ago. It's DS1's birthday today and I'm gearing myself up to go out for a pizza later. Chuckling a little, cos going out used to mean a dash of lippy, now it has to be proper make up and remember to put my hair and boobs onSmile

Hope everyones day is going well

honeybeeridiculous · 28/05/2014 14:28

Thanks for your good wishes everyone, it means a lot Thanks

IamtheZombie · 28/05/2014 15:21

Afternoon all.

ZombieHappyDanceâ„¢ for all who have had good news. That's fantastic.

ZombieFingersCrossedâ„¢ for all having a difficult time.

BCN rang yesterday with preliminary CT results. It mostly looks good but in addition to some benign liver cysts there is also an area that needs further investigation. Now waiting for MRI scan appointment.

Pre-chemo assessment appointment at 9.15am on Monday. Chemo Day Centre rang earlier today and first Tax is scheduled for Monday, 16th June at 1.30pm.

Here we go again.

ZombieHugsâ„¢ to all.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 28/05/2014 16:07

I had my last Rads today!!! Finished at last!! (Well, besides Tamoxifen ). Next appointment is 6 weeks away. Onc will see me in Mar, surgical team will see me in Sept. So I have the whole summer free. I am SO looking forward to it.

I am happy to say that my skin held up the whole way through rads. Under the breast and under the arm got quite red, but the skin didn't blister or break. I was able to wear a soft t-shirt bra the whole time also. I bought it a size wider than normal and closed it on loosest hook.
My Radiologist swears by cold calamine tea. Which I applied about twice a day with cotton wool. I applied MooGoo every night, over skin still damp with calamine tea.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 28/05/2014 16:14

honey delighted yo read hour update on your DF

nelson I had micro calcification in my 'good' breast. Surgical team removed it at same time as I had lumpectomy. Breast nurse said they would not have removed it otherwise. I didn't receive any radio therapy on that side. And medical teams never ask anything about it during reviews.

Speedypenguin · 28/05/2014 16:18

Am just going to say hello to all.
Would really like to make appropriate comments to everyone but still feel quite grotty, hoping tomorrow the cloud will lift.

reallyreallyworried · 28/05/2014 16:27

mom WELL DONE!! You made it Smile Enjoy your hospital appt free weeks. Just remember to keep up with the skin care, as your still cooking for the next 2 weeks! Xx

speedy hope you feel a bit brighter tomorrow. Xx

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 28/05/2014 16:38

Thanks really. Cooking, that's a good way to describe it!

Mummywheel · 28/05/2014 16:57

Delighted for your DF honey how lucky to have such wonderful support from you.

Please keep the radiotherapy tips coming ladies Thanks

My two DS's are pretty hopeless with chores, I guess it's my own fault as I have done pretty much everything for them in the past and I had stressed that I wanted everyone to carry on as normal.

As I will be skipping out of the chemo unit next Wednesday after my final FEC. I was wondering if anyone normally left a small gift for the nurses. Although I will still be going every 3 weeks for the next 12 months to have a Herceptin injection.

malteserzz · 28/05/2014 17:08

Wine hope you enjoy your pizza and remember your hair !

Zombie hugs to you

Mom am really pleased that you have finished ! Smile

Speedy hope you feel better soon

Mummy wheel I didn't buy anything as though everyone was lovely I had different nurses each time I suppose I could have bought a joint gift but didn't get around to it !

IamtheZombie · 28/05/2014 17:20

Mummy, Zombie always took a tin of homebaked goodies at the completion of each course of treatment. Chemo nurses got one at the end of FEC, radiologists got one at the end of rads and chemo nurses got two tins at the end of Herceptin.

Thanks, malt.

Wren48 · 28/05/2014 19:00

Wow, Mom. Congratulations on finishing treatment! Skin care tips are really handy.

Zombie, good that you've got some dates and can do some planning around them. I really hope that the follow up MRI is ok.

Wine, the hair's all very well, but do remember the boobs! (I have to remember the eyebrows)

Same as Malt, I didn't do a present, Mummywheel. I was so surprised to have finished it didn't cross my mind (um, not too bright, I realise). Maybe I'll send a card?

Mummywheel · 28/05/2014 19:15

Homebaked goodies sound lovely Zombie my DH loves your name, while most people have been watching Downtown Abbey box sets and similar during treatment we have been watching The Walking Dead. I have to say there are some days when I have looked like an extra from the series Grin

traviata · 28/05/2014 21:22

Feeling glum today. An effort to fit a picc line failed, so I had my first FEC into the vein two weeks ago, with the promise of a portacath for next time. Now it turns out I won't be able to have the port because either the theatre is solidly booked or the radiologist/surgeon is not available.

I have the choice of another go at a picc line, or direct into the arm again. My vein from last time is still red, and there are red marks around it, and it was difficult to get one. Evidently I have awkward veins.

I had been feeling very well, bouncy and busy, but just a small set back really brings me down. Oh well. I just have to get through it, one way or another.

btw the BCN said firmly "Don't book anything yet!" to my thoughts of a holiday, and I know she is right really.

I have consoled myself by online shopping, buying things for the house. Yes I will have nice cushions if I can't book a holiday, so there!

wineoclocktimeye · 28/05/2014 21:24

Thank you, we had a lovely meal, and I remembered all my accessories Smile I do really ache now and having massive twinges so might have overdone it.

Well done for finishing MOm. I took my chemo nurses a box of naice M&S biscuits.

Hope you're not feeling too grotty Speedy
