We're nearly in December, so let's get the festivities started.

It is amazing what children pick up on Goodness, so it is a very good idea to tell the school. Hope they were supportive.

They really were and I was able to express the unknown time frames, findings and recovery times, etc. I asked them to look out for him particularly well - he's what they call 'eccentric' and 'a real character' and so this chat will hopefully help ;)

pastoral care

Only the second day back at school and a child projectile vomited over dd's whole class in the story corner. There is going to be an epidemic of noro isn't there? I expect Dd will be up in the night. Aghghhhh!

Oh trice - that is gross - did yours get splattered?

Tiny I didn't use the cold mittens and my nails are ok, they seem thicker and have ridges across them but with polish on they're fine

Goodness-glad you managed to ride out school run and speak to head. Hopefully it won't be as bad as you fear (am sure it won't). I am very lazy as hardly ever do school run as can't be arsed even when I feel ok but school know and rung/write in book. Also I hope get news on op date soon as you deserve it after all the waiting.

I got funny nail ridges last time malt( like fault lines) but no issues on tax so far malt.

Interesting re mirena. Maybe it's because I had DCIS? All my hcps know, but I will check it out at my next appt.

Off to work in a bit. Planning on keeping a low profile today and leaving on time, not half an hour late like I did on Tuesday.

Marshy - I don't know - I'd have thought if your DCIS was hormone positive the same would apply, but maybe not. Presumably you don't have an onc though (they seem to be the ones keen on getting mirenas removed!!)?

Went back to bed as usual once the kids had left for school and accidently had a sneaky few hours extra sleep - feel very good for it though.

It's a lovely day here - I have been out on a few errands and apart from the on-going nausea am feeling well. Plus I noticed last night that my eyelashes are growing - I'm not up to Malts mascara wearing standard just yet but it won't be long.

How it's going well for all of you having chemo this week (mainly Tax I think).

Feeling yuck so back in bed- knackered despite lie in and feeling flu like symptoms tho temperature ok. Not got the energy to leave the house or do much so feel pathetic .

sorry you're not well Gigs - is that chemo SEs or another bug that you have picked up? Hope you're being well looked after.

Kitkat good news about the eyelashes, mine came quite quickly once they started. I'm using rapid labs at night and mascara with lengthening serum in the day, probably doing nothing but can't do any harm !

Shitty fuck. Fuck shitty. Can't think of any other way to express how frustrated, angry and sad I feel. No results from the most recent MRI and consultant now away until 22/1/14. Bloody marvelous. No op date either. Shitty shit. Either everything is fine (I feel ok physically - except achey at night ) or ... it's not n I need an op n need it in the diary. Grrrrrrr
I've been hanging around waiting for four weeks now. Knowing I need an op but not what it is and when it will be. Told it needed to happen within a month n now not even a date in the diary.

goodness that is so frustrating, but there isn't much you can do. Unless you choose to go with another surgeon. You might find you are put as one of the first op's once he is back from his hol's. But until then, assuming you are feeling physically okay, I would TRY to put it to the back of your mind and treat yourself with some nice days out for a bit. Spend some extra time with your son, do things that you might struggle with for a bit after surgery! (((((((big hug)))))) xx

I have finished for the week! made it through my 46hr week, including school and nursery runs today, and I feel pretty good

I have been in bed by 9.30 each night, but other than that I am doing okay, and I am quite proud of myself. Just hoping that I can continue to cope while on Tax! First dose is next Friday!!!!

Right I think I need a nice bath (it's not quite the same with one arm hanging out the side) then some tv and bed!! Oh the exciting life I lead

My week ends here also worried and i am pleased, but good to have the first bit done. Did I leave on time? No....

really - I am truly in awe of you being able to keep doing your job! I have three little uns but am not always able to do the school run - or anything more than employ Auntie Cbeebies!

Hope you start feeling a bit better soon Gigs. Sounds silly, but a holiday can take it out of you, as much as it can relax you and let's face it going away with children, whilst lovely, is never relaxing.

Thanks for your hugs and understanding, everyone. I'm going to call the other surgeon's secretary tomorrow (they'll be operating together, apparently). Hopefully, he will try to get the results. Who knows! I don't know which way is up at the moment.
I'm going to take the good advice and go to enjoy the next however long I've got without surgery, trying to put it to the back of my mind. I'll try, anyway

Easier said than done Goodness, I know I was a wreck and couldn't think of anything else before I got my dx. Just think, if you can get through this, you can get through anything.
