Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

Just wanted to send trouble free chemo angels to all those starting imminently.

Gigs hope you feel better soon and that steroids kick start your appetite.

Lilymaid · 04/11/2013 22:25

Trice When I was bed bound on traction, oranges had an immediate effect for me!
Good luck for all about to embark on chemo - much easier started and in the cycle than anticipated.
Glad my M&S Christmas saver went down so well. Not sure we could get through the cheese platter let alone the turkey crown. At the moment I am still feeling slightly nauseous all the time especially when eating at home. So whilst others of you on steroids are ravenous, I'm down to quarter portions of food. But I can afford to lose quite a lot of weight, so this is probably a good thing. Just let me enjoy wine again .... please!

malteserzz · 04/11/2013 22:37

Good luck to handbags and gigs for tomorrow, hope it all goes smoothly and you have as few SEs as possible

topsyturner · 04/11/2013 23:16

Gigs really good luck for tomorrow
Hope it all goes as smoothly as poss
Get Mr Gigs to go out and get you a medley of Mexican food .
I craved it whilst on chemo for some bizarre reason ...

I know logically that my "symptoms" are stress related . Mainly because my psoriasis is out of control again , and that happens when I'm stressed out ,
But just knowing this thing is inside me growing , and possibly moving , fills me with such dread .

Bone and Brain scans should be sorted pretty quickly perhaps the fact that DHs cousin is a consultant radiologist at my hospital and asked DH for my hospital number this evening might have something to do with that

Gah , I should just be really happy that what I have is really slow growing shouldn't i ?

topsyturner · 04/11/2013 23:18

Handbags you too tomorrow ?
Very good luck to you as well .

DH and the DC are all back to school/work tomorrow .
I'm going to have a lovely day of vegging I think .
Quite possibly staying in bed all day long Grin

smee · 04/11/2013 23:35

handbags, any chance you can start on mine?! Grin

Really is it you tomorrow too?? Really hope it all goes smoothly. x

Topsy you won't rest until you've had the scans. Bloody cancer never lets you relax. Mind you, that's why you're getting the headaches am sure. x

Night all. Wishing you all zzz

reallyreallyworried · 05/11/2013 06:35

Nope not me smee I'm still waiting for a start date. IF the doc ever decides to call. His idea of calling in a couple days, and mine, are clearly different!

Have emailed BCN hopefully I will hear something today. I don't mind when it is, but I would like a chance to arrange other stuff. So a bit of notice would be nice.

I think the doc's assume that once they diagnose us with Cancer our lives totally stop!! So we can be at their beck and call. But I for one don't want the cancer to take over my life.

Good luck everyone today xxx

weebarra · 05/11/2013 06:36

Topsy, it's so hard. I have the dread that any delay in treatment (& it's only been a month from diagnosis to chemo) will mean that the bastard has spread. I really feel for you.
Up early as have portacath insertion at 7.30. Had to deice the car!
On another note, I was woken up by severe pain in my right breast (the one with most of the cancer). Is it the cancer itself or still irritation from all the biopsies? Ibuprofen didn't touch it Sad .
Good luck to everyone else doing treatment stuff today.

kitkat1967 · 05/11/2013 07:13

Morning all. Just stopping by to wish gigs and handbags good luck for chemo today.
And good luck with the portacath weebarra.

really - sounds like you are in the same camp as malt was and will have to chase a lot to get things organised - make sure you keep the pressure up.

BetsyBoop · 05/11/2013 08:06

Good luck to gigs and handbags for chemo.

Topsy slow growing is good, but still a git so no wonder you have mixed feelings. Fingers crossed other scans will be clear.

Exhausted myself so much with my list of jobs for DS's birthday on Sat that I fell asleep on the sofa last night and missed university challenge, master chef and the choir, all of which I was looking forward to - moved to bed at 10pm and managed to sleep til 0530 Shock (I should point out my list of jobs was things like wrapping presents, so not exactly physical!) Oh for some energy...

malteserzz · 05/11/2013 08:11

Weebarra I would have thought it's from the biopsies

Really yes I had a long wait for chemo had my op at the beginning of June and started chemo at the end if July despite me ringing and pestering them
Now I face the same fight to get a date for my node clearance op, seeing the onc this morning so that's one of my questions

HerNextDoorAt21 · 05/11/2013 08:41

Good luck to gigs and handbags today and I hope it all goes smoothly.

topsy dearest, are you having a day in bed too ? Odd that my DH said he was too ....... stay in your own house !!!!! He he .... hope the cheeky wine helped your anxieties last night, at least we belly laughed

Good mornng to everyone else ....... for the first time, there is nothing to report from my boobage this week, all boring !

smee · 05/11/2013 09:40

Blush I got you the wrong way round, Really I need you to do my Christmas shopping please. Go on, you know you want to.. Have you nagged them recently for a date?

  • Handbags, sending you smooth first chemo vibes xx

Hope Gigs is okay too. xx

  • Weebarra for the portacath. Fingers crossed it goes in easily. Smile

HND, d'you fancy moving to be my neighbour? Could do with you turning up with wine. Topsy, can I lend?? Grin

Nothing to report here. Got coffee on, need to work. Boring!

reallyreallyworried · 05/11/2013 09:49

smee I would happily do your Christmas Shopping Grin would take my mind off the waiting.

I had an email this morning from my BCN who said, 'dishy' doc had emailed her to say he was waiting to hear from the Chemo suite!! So I take that as, I have to just wait for a call.

Think how much time they could save IF they just called to say sorry for the delay, but we haven't forgotten you, and we will be in touch with a date ASAP!! But that's life I suppose!

So malt IF I am following your pathway, I should start Chemo at the end of Nov! As had last surgery at the begg of Oct! We shall see.

Xxxxx

smee · 05/11/2013 10:44

Blimey really, that must be annoying. I'd call BCN if you haven't heard by end of week. Shouldn't take them that long to chase. Dishy doc sounds rather restorative. Grin

malteserzz · 05/11/2013 11:17

Been to see my onc this morning, well not actually her ! Told her I still haven't had an appointment for my op and she got out the letter which they had sent in 24th sept but she rang the surgeons secretary while I was there and they hadn't received it grr ! So she's faxed it over again and hopefully I should get an appointment for about 4 weeks. We'll see !
Told her about my red cheeks and reaction last time and she's going to check with the onc that she doesn't want to reduce my dose but she doesn't think so. I would rather put up with red cheeks and have the full dose, she was just concerned that it may be worse this time.
Hope everyone else with appointments today is getting on ok

Tiny100 · 05/11/2013 11:29

Just popping in to say 'Morning All' and good luck to Handbag and Gigs for chemo today. Also Good Luck to Weebarra for port-a-cath op, hope it all goes smoothly.

Topsy Stress and anxiety is a common cause of headaches and rib pain and it sounds like you have been under a lot, especially when you are under the 'wait and see' treatment plan. Day in bed followed by more Wine sounds like a good action plan.

Trice Hopefully you might have had some joy by now, if not Pear juice is another one to add to the list!

smee · 05/11/2013 12:12

Waving to Tiny. How are you today?

Topsy, Tiny writing that made me remember something my Surgeon said about recurrence pain. She told me that pain from cancer tends to be consistent. So with my rib pain she was convinced it wasn't due to it being sporadic. Can see her point as a lump doesn't ebb and flow, whereas IBS can (that's what she reckons mine is). So is your pain consistent, i.e. mostly there all the time? If not, then that sounds like good news. Would imagine same true of headaches - i.e. a tumour would be constant, so pain would rack up not come and go. xx Smile

smee · 05/11/2013 12:13

Malt, that's shoddy in the extreme. Can you chase if you don't hear by say early next week?? Hope they get back to you on red cheeks. Does sound like a reaction - I had flushed face on Tax, but they didn't seem overly worried by it. Didn't Betsy have that too?

BetsyBoop · 05/11/2013 12:53

yes I had flushed cheeks after tax, onc wasn't overly concerned.

really and malt - don't forget under the NHS cancer pledge you should have your next treatment within 31 days of them deciding you need it/end of prior treatment unless there are medical reasons to delay (eg wound not healed yet) Get nagging :)

Makes me realise how lucky I've been, I've seen the consultant onc before every chemo, consultant surgeon at each appt and my BCN is really on the ball at chasing things up even before they are "late" and making sure they happen when they should, basically taking the stress off me, which is brill. It should be the same everywhere though Angry on your behalf.

My thighs are feeling slightly less jelly-like and my fingers slightly less numb (still can't feel my toes...)today, which I guess is progress :)

Off for my pre-op appt shortly, back later :)

Tiny100 · 05/11/2013 13:37

Feeling much better today thanks Smee - I think my body is starting to accept the port-a-cath! My surgeon said it would be my friend and that I should name it. Why not, looks like I won't be having anymore babies to name to due to this fecking disease - is there a bitter smiley?

How are you? Have you munched your way through all those bagels? The Brick Lane ones are the best.

Tiny100 · 05/11/2013 14:15

Malt and Really - It's really lame that you are having to chase things up - hope you both get dates soon.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 05/11/2013 14:24

Tiny my port-a-cath is in a week today, and was used for first time during chemo yesterday. I have totally adjusted to it. And it was a breeze to use. The CT team wouldn't use it, so I needed a line for that.

handbagsatdawn · 05/11/2013 14:39

Chemo 1 done! Still sitting in the big chair waiting for my take-home drugs from pharmacy. The actual procedure was fine and I was in a room with a lovely lady and we have exchanged phone numbers. Used the cold cap, no problem at all - I really hope it works.

So one under the belt, will wait and see wait SEs I get.

Gigs - hope yours has gone ok for you too.

malteserzz · 05/11/2013 14:54

Handbags that's great, one out of the way and you made a new friend ! Well done and hope you don't get too many side effects x
