Gigs hope you get your results today and that they're good
Handbag it's your op and results today too isn't it ? Good luck Smile
Hope Kurri is managing a little sleep

Have a good day all

Gigondas · 17/10/2013 07:48

Just popping in for Brew- good luck today for weebarra and hope chemo is as smooth as Peter Andres chest malt. And hope anyone else with appt goes ok.

No advice on chemo but think am in menopause as been a year with no period.

Hnd sounds hopeful that this is last op as that sounds thorough patch up.
Glad ds had a lovely birthday.

Will update you when I know- am calmer this morning but that will go u suspect as day wears on.

Marshy · 17/10/2013 08:12

Very best of luck to gigs, weebarra and handbags today

And thinking of others with treatments, sore bits, or worries

BetsyBoop · 17/10/2013 08:12

Hope they don't keep you waiting too long gigs.

Good luck to everyone with treatment/scans/results etc today.

Thanks smee & pigeons re menopause info (I should have added my last (sort of - very light) period was 1/8, so we shall have to see if they return. Definitely another thing for my qu list.

Next qu - when does hair normally start regrowing after last chemo - I'm guess a few weeks?

I got my appt with the surgeon through for next Tuesday, so time to pull my "case" together for bmx.

I definitely seem to have worse peripheral neuropathy going on this time, but it passed after a week or so last time, so fingers crossed it does this time too and doesn't linger, I know in some folks (amber is one I think?) it never totally goes away.

Well I've just booked my Christmas delivery with Ocado!

Lilymaid · 17/10/2013 08:43

Betsy I've also got some peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and toes. Not bad or painful but some numbness so I can't do up the clasps of necklace chains so easily. Hopefully it is temporary rather than permanent or threading needles will be a thing of the past!

BetsyBoop · 17/10/2013 09:14

How are you doing lily - emerging from the tax truck yet? When do you find out if you are all done or not? (fingers crossed you are) I hope your PN soon diminishes. Mine isn't too bad as yet I can still just about "feel" things, just everything is a bit tingly and my fingers are "clumsy"

BetsyBoop · 17/10/2013 09:16

forgot to say my face (cheeks and lips) are a bit tingly too - has it affected your face? It kinda feels like when you've had an injection at the dentist and it's starting to wear off, weird!

smee · 17/10/2013 09:28

Good luck for today, Malt. Only one left after this. Smile

Thinking about you too Weebarra. Smile

Will be hefting myself down on the paranoia box any minute, Gig. Just waiting for my coffee to brew. Really hope they call soon. Better to know than to wait. xx

kitkat, settling down time seems a bit elastic. I'm hugely prone to capsular contraction (scar tissue distortion), so my surgeon waits a year. I think that's unusual though. My mismatch isn't huge now, so still managed a bikini this summer for first time since this slog all started. Felt way too old and lumpy for it, but it was symbolic! Grin

How's the wound today, HND? Hope not still sore. x

Lily/ Betsy, I had neuropathy each time I had Tax, but it didn't linger afterwards. I know it did for Amber though, so it's a bit random. Hope you're more like me iyswim.

Christmas Ocado, Betsy?! Shock Have you actually made a list and put it on there already?! Hair regrowth for me started about 4 weeks after last Tax, though I did get a bit of head hair back on Tax, which was a bit odd..

Better get on. Lots of work piling up. Feel free to distract me! Grin

smee · 17/10/2013 09:29

x-posted, but Betsy, I'd call your team about the lips thing. I remember something similar, but am pretty sure I was told it was an allergic reaction and to keep an eye on it. Can't remember now, but call them and ask.

kitkat1967 · 17/10/2013 09:41

Morning.

Good luck to malt -hoping for a some chemo day for you.

My fingers are still crossed for good results for gigs - hope they come through today.

And totally shocked that Betsy has done Xmas food delivery already Shock.

Lazy morning for me then off to see DS play in a concert after school.

Lilymaid · 17/10/2013 09:49

We Tax ladies are organised! I set up my Waitrose Christmas order last month - though at the moment I only have a couple of bottles of Champagne in my basket. The whole Christmas food business is a minefield as I usually do the lot and everything from scratch whilst the boys in the house do ...... All. I can't see myself feeling up to doing it all (plus everything else from cards to decorations to cleaning to all presents) this year.

Marshy · 17/10/2013 09:54

Feeling sick for results tomorrow but smee that will be my mantra for today - better to know than to wait

smee · 17/10/2013 10:00

Definitely true, Marshy. Seriously you're at the very worst bit. Uncertainty's just horrid. x

BetsyBoop · 17/10/2013 10:07

hehe don't worry I'm not that organised that I've worked out my christmas food yet! Today is the first day I can book a slot - I just put last year's christmas shop in my basket and checked out to baggsy my slot, that's all!

smee I don't think it's an allergic reaction at this stage (although I agree it could be a sign shortly after administration) - I've also had the tingly lips thing before when I had PN whilst I was taking diamox for my glaucoma, so I'm not worried. :) (PN on diamox was far worse, it really bloody hurt!)

Hope chemo went well malt - you'll soon be singing "one more to go" :)

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 17/10/2013 10:47

Morning all,

I didn't have a period at all during chemo and onc cheerfully told me I might go into the menopause Hmm thankfully they came back a couple of months later as I think that will make IVF simpler! :)

Christmas shop, how exciting! I'm the most Christmassy member of the family so I tend to organise, with everyone's input as long as they agree with me. I can't wait until I've got my own place and can host Christmas Grin it's the only time of year I'm sad to be a vegetarian as I've always thought doing the turkey looks so fun!

Good luck today gigs, malt, weebarra and handbags. Rather a busy day and I expect the paranoia box is fuller than usual, I shall hop on top too.

betsy hope the tingliness goes away, worth mentioning to your team if you haven't already as mine said there was something they could give if it became a problem. I don't know if that was specific to my drug though.

marshy thinking of you too :)

lily hopefully the others will pull their weight this year. Perhaps you could make a list of everything you normally do and they can divide the tasks between them.

kitkat enjoy the concert :)

smee hope work is going well. I'm meant to be studying but still in bed Blush

HND sounds incredibly owchy! Hopefully this will be the end of the problems though. Good idea to rest up. Lovely pics of DS :)

Waving to everyone x

malteserzz · 17/10/2013 11:29

Still having chemo had a reaction to the tax this morning Hmm not convinced it wasn't just a panic attack as liquid started coming our of the cannula, it was just the fluids but I thought it was the chemo then when they started the chemo I was worried that was going to leak too. Started feeling faint and seeing stars. They stopped it and gave me piriton and steroids then restarted after half an hour and all is ok now
Hope everyone else is ok

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 17/10/2013 11:34

malt sounds scary, a panic attack is still a horrible thing to happen so either way, not nice. I'm glad they've sorted it and hope the rest goes smoothly :)

smee · 17/10/2013 12:04

Oh poor you, Malt. I would have panicked too. Hope the rest goes in okay xx

PictureThis · 17/10/2013 12:21

Oh Malt, that wasn't in the plan! Glad to hear everything has settled and normality has resumed. Let's hope the rest of your appt remains uneventful.

Today's a good day for me...I'm dressed, 1st time since monday and I feel human again. Hurrah for buggering off of side effects. FEC was a breeze compared to this Tax. Anyway, I have decided to give myself a little treat and I'm getting my nails done today.
Gigs thinking of you and hoping for the right result. Kurri hope you are doing ok today, one day at a time xx

Tiny100 · 17/10/2013 13:45

Oh wow, Christmas planning already, you ladies really are organised!

Good Luck for today to Weebara, Smee and Gigs. Sorry if I have missed anyone else out.

Malt - hope you have recovered and are in good hands now.

I had an emotionally draining day yesterday, meet Oncologist and BCN - it is all starting to hit home that this is really happening to me. I am starting chemo on Friday. (4 lots of EC and 4 lots of Docetaxel - is this the dreaded Tax?) I think I am going to try the cold cap, as oncologist said I may end up with curly grey hair after the chemo if it falls out. Curly I don't mind, but not so sure about the grey. I am booked in later today to have my hair cut short, very short - eek. It is going to be a shock as I have quite long hair and I anticipate a quite a few tears. Any tips for the chemo/cold cap will be greatfully received.

Tiny100 · 17/10/2013 13:48

Gratefully received even!

malteserzz · 17/10/2013 13:59

I'm home now and fine do the other tax ladies all get piriton before chemo ? Will ask for it next time

Tiny tips for cold cap, take 2 paracetamol beforehand as it helps it not hurt so much, it is very cold when it first goes on but bare with it as after a few minutes you get used to it and it's fine. Don't wash your hair for at least 2 days afterwards use simple shampoo and wash it the least times you can bare! No heat appliances eg straighteners
Personally I would get yourself sorted with a wig or scarves just incase it doesn't work, it has only worked partially for me and I do need my wig. I'm still glad I tried it though

Lilymaid · 17/10/2013 14:04

Tiny get ye to a wig supplier ASAP. Tax is particularly cruel to hair. Go with a female friend who can tell you what looks best on you and get it trimmed to suit you. With a good wig no one can tell it isn't the real thing and you can go out with confidence.

kitkat1967 · 17/10/2013 14:06

well I've just had a little trip to the hairdressers - had the front of my wig trimmed and the back of my hair trimmed - so slightly bizarre really.
Also the hairdresser straightened the wig for me Blush. Am going into school later so will keep it on.

Tiny - I did the cold cap for 3 lots of FEC (Malt is still doing it) and it worked OK but I did get a very thin patch on the top of my head. I'm not doing it now as I am having weekly chemo so it's not really suitable. I found it very tough going - took 2 paracetamol before hand - but by the 3rd session it hurt for the full 4 hours I had it on. I don't regret giving it a go though as i still have a decent amount of hair and when I had a chemo break it grew very quickly. One of the major problems is that my nausea with FEC was very bad and by association just seeing the cap made me feel very ill. Malt has found it much more bearable and I'm sure she'll be along later to update you.

Don't have your hair cut too short though - you need a bit to brush over thin patches. If you go for a Pixie cut the thin bits will be very obvious.

kitkat1967 · 17/10/2013 14:09

wow - cross posted with efficient Malt.

Malt - even on my low-dose Paclitaxel I get IV Piriton, Steroid and something being with R (for stomach lining) 30 minutes before the chemo every time. This is why I then sleep through the chemo. I had assumed that was all standard but apparently not.
