I guess I start..
My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Hi she
Yes Monday, I went for my booking in tests today, the nurse was fabulously bonkers! An absolute scream and the even better news is that she will be looking after me next week - she usually does post op care for gynae.. Happy days, though possibly the only time I've been worried about laughing lol Grin
As the ultimate in distraction we went and looked at a new house today, that was also fabulous but a little completely over budget, I just really waaaaaaant it
fled do you have any chance of seeing a different GP and getting the time scales looked at? I was given chapter and verse today on no driving for 6 weeks minimum but they don't want me back at work for 8 weeks, no lifting, no hoovering etc in that time either. (My heart bleeds about the housework bit,,)

Waitingaround · 21/11/2013 20:42

I work in the nhs fled and my occupational health said no work for 8 weeks, my boss however wasn't quite so keen...however occupational health say def not fit till 8 weeks.

fledtoscotland · 21/11/2013 20:50

Waiting - that's just it. I'm a lone worker in the nhs and my direct manager and clinical services manager have both said min 12wks!

Waitingaround · 21/11/2013 21:03

And I think they are both right fled the GP you saw is worse than useless. Hopefully the one you see tomorrow will be better- and and make sure you mention the amount of pain your in, as that doesn't seem right.

Good luck for Monday oddsocks Thanks

TiredDog · 21/11/2013 21:11

Shewhowines endometrial hyperplasia. Had it for about 4 yrs with recurrent normal biopsies, abnormal scans and endometrium growing. Biopsies good and reassuring. Rest of it not. Surgeon said it's almost certainly ok now

I'm working really hard now to get work sorted in case I'm off longer. Reality is hitting

It's interesting Fled. I wonder what happens if GP thinks you should return but occupational health veto it. The GP is an idiot

thekingfisher · 21/11/2013 21:24

I have pre-op tomorrow and madly trying to finish my work - have a major training session/presentation to do Monday then THAT IS IT!

Frankly I've been so mental over last couple of weeks I'll be glad of the rest {ironic laugh}

TiredDog · 21/11/2013 21:38

I know exactly what you mean. I think the reason I am not thinking about a long time off is because I will find it so difficult to get back on the wheel!

Cremolafoam · 21/11/2013 22:56

I called into the office today to hand in my sick note and got ear bent by one of my customers who caught my eyeShock Strangely I heard my professional voice come out of my mouth, blah blah blah like auto pilot.
Weird sensation: lol. It made me realise that but for the weeping wound if wonder , I could possibly consider being back at work in a couple of weeks. Not going back yet obviously but good to know I haven't lost the entire plot and will be able to slip back in.
Yes I'm the one on HRT. Think it has helped fwiw. Hard to tell because I was basically on it two weeks after the op.

fledtoscotland · 22/11/2013 11:44

Back from gp. Been told expecting too much at week 2 and hot pain is nerve pain. Given dihydrocodiene and told I should be back at work at 6wks. Will phone occ health for their input nxt week I think

shewhowines · 22/11/2013 12:38

We are told not to lift anything etc. Obviously damage is easily done. How can a gp distinguish between nerve pain and proper damage? At what point does that become obvious? How long can you expect the nerve pain to last for?

I don't know, but it doesn't seem very satisfactory does it? Do you feel happier now? At least the stronger painkillers may help a bit.

spudmama · 22/11/2013 13:08

Fled Angry at your drs and how the advice be so diferent from what the rest of us are being told. Also they are saying you should be back at 6 weeks not that you have to go back if you are not ready then stick to your guns

My 6 week sick note ends in two weeks can't imagine going back to work although might feel different then. Went for a short drive today and now paying for it and now need a lie down Sad

TiredDog · 22/11/2013 17:05

I feel really guilty saying this because it's very me me me and unsupportive but all the posts about struggling to get back to work are terrifying me. I have not planned to stay off idiot maybe but it's my coping mechanism and tbh a little bit of my brain thinks CANCEL! at the thought of too long an absence. It's not that I wish to work but the workplace will be a nightmare to return to with x weeks work piled up and even more work involved to unravel it. I'm struggling to face that idea

^ all of that is really not important compared to health but my mental health will be affected at the thought of it

cocolepew · 22/11/2013 17:45

Hi ladies, listen, nobody is ready for work four weeks after this op. You should only be starting to do more at 6 weeks. The weeks leading up to this are for resting and recovering. You need to be in this mindset or you're just going to be disappointed when you think you aren't recovering fast enough.

I was off work for 10 months before my op. As a matter of course I had to go to occupational health. The dr laughed and said the 6 week recovery time was the stupidest thing he'd had heard.

All drs mentioned said 12 weeks as the minimum you should aim for.

You can buy Manuka honey body cream, shower gel etc in Holland and Barratt. Obviously not for open wounds but I used it on my incisions and thing it helped.

Hope everyone keeps well and good luck to those still waiting for your ops Flowers.

Cremolafoam · 22/11/2013 22:30

Likewise coco , the OH doctor who I've to see every 4 weeks via work says in her experience 12-14 weeks to work return is usual , and she must have seen hundreds of post hysterectomy ladies over the last 10 years. ( massive employer)
Fled I don't understand your gps. Surely in light if you working for the nhs they know that your employer is not expecting you back anyway. What's it to them to give you a sick line FGS?
Hope the nerve pain settles for you soon. Thanks Hope kitty is improving too.

I have done too much this last couple of days and am catastrophically knackered. Not sore , just tetchy. Had to go asleepy this afternoon ( note to keen beans I am eight weeks post op)
No more baking for me. There is hope re the wound however . It seems to be < whispers> healing at last Looking dry and less sad according to the nurse who made encouraging sounds this morning.
Night night.

Oddsocksrus · 24/11/2013 13:23

Afternoon all,
Just to make you smile....
I failed to get a proper wax done yesterday having booked the full bikini plus 'crack' the girl who came to do the deed announced she didn't do 'down there'
So today I decided to shave myself.. I then applied liberal amounts of DH's expensive Clarins aftershave balm oil stuff.... It's mint......
It feels a little too fresh and breezy down there now!

OP posts:
thekingfisher · 24/11/2013 14:16

oh, minty fresh!

Good luck tomorrow - hope all goes well - I'll be in when you get out so wishing you well and hope the minuteness wears off.

FYI in future for post waxing and shaving fab product called Tend Skin is Very Good - still stings like buggery put not quite so fragrant as Clarins!

Waitingaround · 24/11/2013 14:33

Good luck for tomorrow oddsocks

TiredDog · 24/11/2013 16:13

Is it tomorrow Oddsocks!? Good luck.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 24/11/2013 16:56

Good luck Oddsocks. Thinking of you tomorrow.

I had my first ever bumwax yesterday. Why is the hair from my balding fanjo marching through to my bumcrack? Fucking thanks a lot Mother Nature (you bitch).

If I had to do the op again, I would definitely have the top of my triangle waxed because oo those dressings stick tight to hair.

Wishing you well for tomorrow.

cocolepew · 24/11/2013 17:03

Good luck Oddsocks Flowers

Oddsocksrus · 24/11/2013 17:12

shewhowines · 24/11/2013 18:17

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. I can imagine the nerves now. All the best. Looking forward to hearing from you in a few days, with it all behind you!

Thanks
spudmama · 24/11/2013 20:05

Odds your post made me smile, my paperwork informed me that i wasn't to wax or shave before the op, i turned up in the operating room a la 70's styleGrin. Good luck for tomorrow looking forward to seeing you on the 'done' sofa
Tired what kind of work do you do? if you can work from home it may be possible to get back to it after a couple of weeks. I didn't want mine done but that was due to having a 1 yr old but glad i did as once fully recovered gets a healthy mummy work can wait.
