My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Nursey friend came round. Wound is leaking a bit so she's cleaned it and will come back Friday. Got lovely flowers from my friends Smile. Also reprimanded for looking pale and tired and given instructions about drinking/eating properly. Feel thoroughly told off in a nice way. Had a chat about the op (id seen my recovery notes and had a respiratory rate of 6 post op) and a sort of debriefing. She's going to help me put a letter of complaint in but I've only got 28 days to do it.

DH has hoovered/dusted/washed up/made me a square sausage sandwich on plain bread for lunch and I'm draped over the sofa RESTING.

I love mumsnet for being there for me ThanksThanksThanksThanks

shewhowines · 13/11/2013 13:30

My scottish friend introduced us to square sausage sandwiches. Ds would kill for one now from his sofa bed. He loves them. It's sore for him to walk so I'm running around after him, delivering every request. He's a very demanding patient. I know how DH felt now! Smile

Waitingaround · 13/11/2013 15:34

I agree withovercome i ignored a weird pain for ages until the pain got very uncomfortable and the bleeding worsened and smelt. This ended up bring a pelvic infection which has delayed my recovery by a couple of weeks. Whilst lets who listened to advice and rested properly is recovering well I think (please correct me lets if I'm mistaken), I'm still malingering and now need additional boring time off work. And there fled ends my sermon of the dAy Grin

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 13/11/2013 15:37

Nope - you're spot on Waiting. Resting early pays out later. I didn't have any complications though - and an infection is an infection. I think I was just lucky not to have one.

Mmmm sausage sarnies

spudmama · 13/11/2013 19:40

Did a huge post and it has dissapeared Angry
All this talk of infection is going to make me crack open the hibiscrub agian you lot are making me paranoid.

Fled i am 3 weeks in and still have pain the first week was awful really sore tender tummy lots of bruising not being able to get in and out of bed properly, but it will get better i can now sneeze/cough/laugh without screaming.

TMI alert question about going to the toilet....did/does anyone have pain when pooing i dont mean from the bum but pain inside like from your bowels also have it when sit to wee like there is pressure i just need to know what is normalor not before i start being a nusiance at the drs.

Also mmmmmm to sausages sarnis

Cremolafoam · 13/11/2013 19:52

Mmn just polished orf a big plate of sausages roasted with apples and sweet potatoes. Slurp.

Spud I reckon that sounds right re bowel pain . The physio did me a diagram of how your bowel and bladder are placed inside now the uterus is gone . All very close and are currently( at 3 weeks) moving into the space and resettling. Hope that sounds right. I definitely had internal settling pains.( I had pain on pooping too). Do check with medics if you're worried though. Worth it for piece of mind.Smile

fledtoscotland · 13/11/2013 19:57

Well I've poo'd WineWineWineWineWineWineWine

Was sore but pressed a hand-towel into my scar like the physio said. Felt odd like it was my bladder rather than my bowels but prob cos things are differently placed now. Still got sharp pains on one side like a stitch is digging in and will see GP Monday if still there.

Quick question - has anyone else had vaginally bleeding since surgery? I've had nothing - not even any discharge. Was expecting it too. Stomach not bloated like its collecting anywhere either

Cremolafoam · 13/11/2013 20:12

Hi-5 FledWine

In RL I don't think anyone would believe I'm hi fiving over a complete stranger's poop!GrinGrinGrinGrin

Yes to a tiny bit of discharge for about a week. But really little. Also a tiny bit for a day or so in week 4-5.

spudmama · 13/11/2013 20:19

Crem that might explain the pain thanks

Yeah to fled and finally having a poo. I also had no bleeding and discharge what so ever, as i think we are the only ones that had an abdo hysto ooothat rhymes...that could be the reason?

Sauasages are now cooking Grin

fledtoscotland · 13/11/2013 20:20

Spud - mine was an open abdo hysterectomy so was expecting something but nothing. Feel a bit sick after the effort of having a poo (sorry for tmi)

spudmama · 13/11/2013 20:30

If i remember i had to nave a lie down after my first poo

shewhowines · 13/11/2013 21:10

I had open abdo, also no bleeding or discharge!
Am still yoyoing between constipation so I up the lactulose, to then diarrhoea. will I ever be normal? I think the pain/weird feeling is more external with the constipation, but I'm not totally sure.

Wine here's to poo!

What a lovely conversation piece we are discussing in such great detail, this evening. Grin

Cremolafoam · 13/11/2013 21:20

I had open abdominal vertical tummy button to pubes 5 " surgery too.

This is now officially the
Sausage and Surgery Thread

shewhowines · 13/11/2013 22:03

overcome hope your day got better. I have visions of your DH doing the handwashing up to his armpits in soap suds. yes I know the reality is just a great festering pile of dirty laundry!

Grin at sausage and surgery thread.

Oddsocksrus · 13/11/2013 22:13

Wine for poos indeed!
crem it was for work, up to southern holland yesterday for a tree nursery tour and interviews in 40cm of runny mud. (It's not good for my skin, it smelt absolutely dead as it's been liquid for so long there's no oxygen left) yuck yuck yuck!
Cambrai in nord pas de Calais last night ( such a beautiful town) then down to Villers-cotterets today for the same again but a bigger company. I got to eat orange fleshed apples with transparent skin (they glowed in the sunlight and tasted delicious, quite sweet) and also a very pretty shiny red apple that tasted of peach.... All natural selections (pollen in flower, seeds planted and you keep your fingers crossed one of them is worth something )

Anyway, enjoying freedom while I can, work isn't always this much fun, even with the mileage lol
I hope you all had better days?

Waitingaround · 14/11/2013 08:59

odds I want to set those apples! they sound amazing!

fledtoscotland · 14/11/2013 09:27

The orange flesh ones sound almost like the ones my granddad used to grow - Cox's Orange Pippins I think. They tastes of apple rather than the bland mass produced shite we get in supermarkets today.

Anyway today am v sore. The whole of my L side feels like it's being twisted & pulled. No fever. Wound looking good. Am farting but have to push it iykwim rather than it just escaping.

Oddsocksrus · 14/11/2013 12:36

looks for Zari (in JS) & Rubens (JS, Morrisons, ASDA and Tesco)
they are my favourites, they are juicy, crunchy, have a good balance of acid to sugar (the classic cox kind of flavour)

Fled, if you are in scotland there is a certain bias away from english fruit and you're almost more likely to get USA apples as there is a huge contract with Washington state and New York apple growers co.
probably the best to come from over there at the moment is honey crisp, super sweet but has flavour and texture

I got mint tea, mint capsules and mint cordial today, along with arnica.. I won't be able to lift my bag before the op the stuff I'm collecting let alone after lol

OP posts:
Cremolafoam · 14/11/2013 12:53

I have to confess a liking for blasphemes Jazz apples.
I know very bad and contrary. On the other hand we do get by on a load of apples from my cousins orchard every year if I can snatch them from dh's cider press in time Grin

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/11/2013 13:29

I have a thing about apples. Any except Golden Delicious (trades descriptions act, where are you?) and Granny Smith. I eat at least 4 a day often more and have done ever since I was little. I feel odd if I go more than a day or two without one.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/11/2013 13:31

Odd I looked as if I'd packed for a fortnight too. What with the 2 towels, v shaped pillow and all.

Fled I had a nasty ripping stabby pain on one side whenever I moved. It went after a week or so.

Waitingaround · 14/11/2013 14:30

Oh the joy of effortless farting Smile
