Has anyone ever tried to market the "Drink 4 litres of Water a Day" diet, because if not I think they should

I have to drink 4l of fluid a day atm (ivf related shenanigans).
I haven't been hungry in days, or able to finish a plate of food.
Sadly I feel there is no money in this idea...... Grin
Is it a crap idea?

See what you've started, Pruni?! Grin

Does it have to be water? I could do wine......

spook · 20/06/2006 14:11

OK-I have had 3 glasses. I am even sad enough to have measured them and I reckong I've had 1 litre.
PLEASE can I stop now??? It actually makes me gag!!!

Pruni · 20/06/2006 14:13

suejonez, I have OHSS, albeit quite mildly, hence the water. I don't think they force most women to drink that much normally!

I started this around 6 months ago, after around 4 weeks you will find that you actually crave water and your thirst increases so 4L a day becomes easy, I now drink nothing but water, and a couple of cups a coffee a day.

Also, downing the water is pointless as it will go straight through you, and not wash out any toxins, you need to spread it out through the day, I drink about a pint over 1 1/2 hours or so.

suejonez · 20/06/2006 14:55

Aha - I had OHSS too and now you mention it I do recall being told to drink lots. Think I've blanked the whole sorry episode out of my mind! I had 30 follicles of more than 2.5cms (they didn't bother to measure the smaller ones). I inflated like a barrage balloon. Much sympathy to you, I was also like it in the heat August bank holiday year before last.

Shock I had about 44 but only half got to 2cm. Going down now - which of course is a stress in itself because the more rubbish you feel the more likely you are to be pregnant, hence the relief of feeling quite good is not v nice. Grr.

I've been meaning to hunt out this thread since going to slimming world last Thursday. I had had a really bad week eating all sorts that I shouldn't have and expected a gain. However I'd lost 2.5lbs. Now, I'd drunk gallons all week as I'd had cystitis, so this week I'm testing my theory that it was all the water that made the difference. I'm drinking at least 2 x 750cl bottles of water per day plus what I'd normally drink. I've been pee'ing for England but am hoping it'll settle down. I'll let you know how I get on on Thursday.
