HELP PLEASE! PANIC STATIONS!!!!!!

Have just got ds2 out of bed and he is absolutely covered in spots.On his face,his torso,his arms, his genitals,some on his legs but not many.
weird red blotchy spots some of which look remarkably like molluscum.
He has one under his eye and eye area looks a bit swollen.He has been scratching in the night and has knocked the top off one of two and they are a bit bloody.
he was pretty blotch free last night except for a bit of eczema on his tummy and he is otherwise right as rain.He's sitting tucking into breakfast as i type.
Any clues???? i've made an appointment with the doc but am really worried.
he's 2 by the way.

sounds like chicken pox.. has he had it though?

I know this sounds silly but is it sunny where you are? My little one has a slight sun allergy and she comes out in lovely yucky spots if I let her play out for too long.
I'd probably go with the pox though. He'll be fine.

not always, they sometimes have a little temperature or a runny nose, but they aren't really that unwell. Do they look blistery?

does sound like chicken pox , my son had it at 2 and he wasnt poorley at all , the worst thing aout it was we couldnt go out!! He was runnig around and doing all his normal stuff!!

as i said some of them look like molluscum, which is a kind of little blistery thing.almost pearl like.
he has them behind his ears and on his testicles.
but hardly any onhis legs. a massive cluster of them next to his hip.
he hasn't had chicken pox......

Looks like he might have them now! Hope he gets on ok and doesn't start to feel poorly. Poor thing, I bets he is really itchy. You will need calamine!

Can't help but have you got the doctor's appointment very soon? Best bit is that he is eating and so that is a really good sign wonder if it is chicken pox as has been said already.

ALexsmum, it could be chickenpox. There is a lot of it around at the moment. The spots for CP can be all over the body but there is a tendency for them to not be on the limbs so much and you did say he had less on his legs. Anyway, I wnated to let you know that when my three eldest had it, none of them felt ill at all and ate normally throughout, despite being covered in spots - on eyelids as well as everywhere else.

I hope the doctor's appt comes soon for you. It can be worrying waiting can't it?

i guess i can assume that ds1 will catch it then?

Fairly likely if he hasn't had it already. I have never come across a sibling who has escaped CP once one gets it, although I am sure someone else will tell me differently. It might take a couple of weeks to emerge though.

DS2 got it 2 weeks after DS1. TBH, unless there's a good reason for your DS1 not to have it now, I'd encourage close contact and sharing of spoons!

Chicken pox, or prickly heat rash. Don't think you need to be worried but glad you have an appoitment anyway to set your mind at rest!

well would prefer it if ds1 wasn't off school! the end of term is quite important and fun really.

mine not poorly with chicken pox at all. But the pox took a day or so to arrive.... mind you was looking out for it as new she had been bathing with a poxy tot.

sounds like c'pox. dd had it almost exactly a year ago, memories ... !

btw you have told the surgery about the rash when making the appoitnment , haven't you ?

they don't generally want potential chickenpox cases to go into surgery BTW...
