It's an odd bug

He is exhausted, is being sick but intermittently more as a reaction to a temperature or shaking & he is sweating (it's not hot here)

He looks awful, no diarrhoea but going to the loo often, feeling queasy

He doesn't really get 'tummy bugs' and the few times he has had one (over the last 20 yrs or so) he has been fine within 6-10 hours - this has been going on since Sunday evening.

He has chronic asthma & lung disease (Bronchiectasis) so takes a lot of drugs and I'm a bit worried but I'm not sure why, something I can't quite put my finger on

Oh no that's not good - grrrr another night worrying

KatyMac · 08/08/2013 19:54

So annoyed, they forgot to schedule his scan. So he sat here all day yesterday & most of today waiting for something that wasn't even booked

I am not a happy bunny

digerd · 08/08/2013 20:41

Oh, OP [shock[AngrySad for you both.

KatyMac · 08/08/2013 21:09

The team is in surgery (fair enough)

He is still in the admissions ward

The results are 'fine' but he can't come home & no-one knows why

Our daughter is performing in London tomorrow & I leave at 9am - there is no way he will be able to come; but I feel very bad leaving him to it

OP posts:
digerd · 09/08/2013 06:03

You say his results are fine, so does that mean he did have the scan in the end yesterday?

What is your daughter performing today - singing, dancing, acting or playing a musical instrument?
Shame her dad can't be there Sad

KatyMac · 09/08/2013 08:29

The Matron went to see why he was kept waiting at about 2 because she was cross & she found out it hadn't been scheduled

DD is at Summer school at Arts Ed in London doing Bugsy Malone; but DH has form for missing performances because he was in hospital (& he is quite cross)

OP posts:
LooplaLoopy · 09/08/2013 08:35

Hope he's OK :)

KatyMac · 09/08/2013 09:08

I spoke to the doctor

He came in with a bad infection; but it's gone now. They don't know where it was - they are sending him home with antibiotics and will bring him back in 2/3 weeks to see why he is anaemic

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 09/08/2013 09:12

That's better news. I hope he continues to recover.

digerd · 09/08/2013 11:32

You must be very proud of DD seeing her perform in a musical on stage. Such a shame her dad can't be there, but there will be another time.
Decades ago, my sis decided at 15 not to want a scholarship to the Arts Ed - and gave it all up to go into competitive Ballroom/Latin dancing where she could and did win competitions. She is now teaching.

So pleased DH is now on the road to recovery. Good luck to you all.

KatyMac · 09/08/2013 11:47

Fingers crossed

Have we chatted about Ballroom & Latin before - DD regulaly competes at Blackpool! But she is giving that up to go into Musical Theatre Grin

It's just a summer school performance but she'd like a scholarship from them Wink

Dh has just found out his test in 2/3 weeks is happening on Monday - thanks to the Matron

OP posts:
notapizzaeater · 09/08/2013 12:54

Got to love the matron !! Is he still coming home, then back Monday for test ?

How exciting for your daughter Smile

digerd · 09/08/2013 14:15

We may have chatted about ballroom Dancing when Strictly has been on and can't wait for it to begin again next month, at least I think I heard it was returning in September?
So have I got it right that your DH has not yet had his scan and that it is now rescheduled for Monday?

KatyMac · 09/08/2013 17:51

He had the scan; coming back on Monday for the camera to check for bleeding

& he is home

She was easily the best dancer in the show but there were some fabulous singers there

OP posts:
KatyMac · 10/08/2013 09:55

He appears to be having an up camera & a down camera at the same time

I wouldn't fancy that

OP posts:
notapizzaeater · 10/08/2013 10:59

They will probably soft sedate him so he won't even realise. I'd ask for pictures GrinGrinGrinGrin

digerd · 10/08/2013 13:18

Oh poor him. That will be a colonoscopy and gastroendoscopy. But at the same time? Well, at least they will get both done instead of having 2 separate appts. on different dates.
I have had the latter done but not the former and mine didn't hurt at all, just rather an uncomfortable feeling of panic. Most people have a slight sedation for that.
My DH had one and a mirror tube put down into into his bronchial tubes< not at the same time>, but said neither panicked him or hurt.

digerd · 10/08/2013 13:31

I didn't want to see any pictures of my stomach and upper intestines.
While in the stomach, I was told" Now i'm just going to blow some air into it to inflate it as is very wrinkled in its normal state and need to smooth them all out to be able to see everything". Have enough wrinkles on the outside, never mind seeing the wrinkly insides as wellGrin

Good luck with those test results OP

Homebird8 · 10/08/2013 21:56

I've had a colonoscopy and it was fine. The worst bit was the 'drinks' to clear the gut first. I asked for only very mild sedation and was told later I got 'paediatric levels' which was fine and made the recovery only a few minutes. I was starving afterwards though. That nil by mouth thing is horrible.

KatyMac · 11/08/2013 08:55

Not sure if they will sedate him because of his chest - but the nil by mouth I thought was going to be awful but tbh he seems fine about it (which makes me think he is feeling quite rough)

Not until tomorrow pm, so no food from now until tomorrow evening; it's hard

DD & I are going out for dinner, so there is no 'lovely smell' for him to feel bad about

OP posts:
digerd · 11/08/2013 13:16

I expect the lateness in the procedure is due to getting 2 specialists to do them at the same time. I think your DH is very brave. If he seems OK, then he is. And he doesn't want you worrying, bless him Smile.

I remember being on my left side when having mine done, not on my back.

All the best for him tomorrow evening.

KatyMac · 11/08/2013 16:36

I guess - he is getting grumpier now; so we came out

OP posts:
KatyMac · 11/08/2013 22:44

& his Picolax has NOT made him poo

Oh dear!

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 12/08/2013 07:07

Don't worry. They can give him a suppository. Good luck for today.

KatyMac · 12/08/2013 07:48

Ok, so the second dose did Wink
