It's an odd bug

He is exhausted, is being sick but intermittently more as a reaction to a temperature or shaking & he is sweating (it's not hot here)

He looks awful, no diarrhoea but going to the loo often, feeling queasy

He doesn't really get 'tummy bugs' and the few times he has had one (over the last 20 yrs or so) he has been fine within 6-10 hours - this has been going on since Sunday evening.

He has chronic asthma & lung disease (Bronchiectasis) so takes a lot of drugs and I'm a bit worried but I'm not sure why, something I can't quite put my finger on

Just thought I'd say I hope he gets well soon. He's in the best place, and he'll be looked after. Please also make sure you're looking after yourself - eating enough, drinking enough etc.

If he's giving you a long list, he must be on the mendSmile

Rooners · 07/08/2013 11:57

Crikey, I hope he is going to be alright Katy. Could it be a kidney infection? Obvs they will have thought of that x

KatyMac · 07/08/2013 12:11

It's his liver results they don't like

I know he is better in hospital; I'm just a bit powerless

KatyMac · 07/08/2013 14:49

Thanks - they still haven't 'ultra sounded' him & he is feeling very weak Sad

OP posts:
KatyMac · 07/08/2013 15:48

Still nothing & they have said he will be in over night again

OP posts:

OK so why would he have an injection in his tummy?

OP posts:
Andro · 07/08/2013 17:09

They are probably giving him an anti-clotting medication to prevent clots forming - same reason why they'll have him wearing pressure stockings.

KatyMac · 07/08/2013 17:29

OK - does it hurt?

TBH the lying around worries me more wrt his chest as he is very susceptible to pneumonia & that stupid bug that I can't remember it's name heamophyllis influaenza or something - he had no immunity to that at all if he has been in bed for 3 days

OP posts:
ExcuseTypos · 07/08/2013 17:31

Yes, my DH had tummy injections of anti clogging medication when they thought he had a blood clot. He actually had pneumonia but I think they do these things as a precaution if they aren't 100% sure what they are dealing with.

Hope you get some firm news soon.

ExcuseTypos · 07/08/2013 17:33

Sorry x posted.

Could you mention your concern about him lying around too long ?

KatyMac · 07/08/2013 17:35

Thanks - I will

Him lying down for 3 days is my worst nightmare tbh

OP posts:
magso · 07/08/2013 17:38

I think it is standard to give anti clotting injections and elastic stockings (to guard against deep vein thrombosis whilst immobile) to anyone ill enough to be in bed much of the time but not awaiting surgery.
Thinking of you Katy.

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/08/2013 18:01

Katy - is it his gallbladder? Just re-read your posts and it seems almost identical to when I had gallstones - I had very low blood pressure (it's low on a good day, but dropped significantly), impaired liver function and was put on a drip, nil by mouth for 10 days, then had gallbladder whisked out. I also had the stockings and injections in my stomach (they didn't hurt) to prevent blood clots while they decided what to do with me.

Jollyb · 07/08/2013 18:06

Has he had any chest physio?

KatyMac · 07/08/2013 18:32

He has been put on Tazacin for the urine infection I think

Gall bladder has been mentioned & liver

He normally self manages his chest physio; but he is too weak

Thinking of you, hope you get answers soon.

digerd · 07/08/2013 18:59

I was in hospital in Germany and apart from getting up and going into the ensuite loo with my drip and stand, I was sleeping. I was given anti-thrombosis injections 3 times a day and they wanted to put them in my tummy, but I was horrified < being a wimp> and they put it into my thigh on my insistence. They did say it worked better in the tummy?
But we didn't have the stockings as well. It is done for everbody there.
