Hi forum. I don't currently or in the past have lymphoma it's just one of my biggest worries in life. You can tell me to go the doc but I never do. Or when I do he tells me to stop putting everything down to cancer As I'm young and healthy. (22) I forever check my glands and if one swells I worry for weeks. 6 months ago I was I'll with a little cold and one of my glands had swollen. 6 months down the line it's still swollen all though now painless. It's very squishy and mobile and hasn't grown? Should I be worried. I'm also full of cold again and all the glands under my jawline have swollen. Should I be worried or am I just being stupid yet again. I don't no if its glands under my jaw either as when I hold my head up right they are normal but when I put my chin my my chest and feel them they feel huge!???? Could this just be fat/normal

Hi Megan. It sounds like you have been googling your symptoms?

If I were you I would make a GP appointment and explain all your fears. Show them your swollen glands and explain your worries.

x

BeaWheesht · 02/08/2013 08:33

Seriously you need to go to the doc, nobody on here can reassure you. More to the point though you must get help with your anxiety.

Health anxiety is horrific and I really feel for you. Tbh I don't even know how to tell if my glands are up so I can't give you any practical advice

laurz75 · 02/08/2013 08:35

If you are still worried and it sounds that way, go back to your doctor. I think you need to explain that you are becoming obsessed/increasingly worried and ask how s/he can help. Sure it is fine...my nephew had lymphoma but he had a huge hard lump in his neck (that dr's said was fine for ages Angry ) - he is now a strapping 25 year old.

Meganlillymai · 02/08/2013 08:42

Believe me I would go to doctor if it was that easy for me but im honest terrified. I've always had this phobia of the doctors and I know the sooner I go the better but it scared the hell out of me. I've played with the gland / salivary gland all night and made it a little worse so now when I turn my head I can feel it. I'm thinking wait till the cold that have goes then see a doc if its still there.....??????

No Megan. Make the appointment today. Does anyone in RL know how you feel? Could you take them with you?

Meganlillymai · 02/08/2013 08:47

I'm scared though like literally nearly in tears all over making an appointment

Sparklingbrook · 02/08/2013 08:53

Oh Megan, I do understand, but in order to deal with this a GP appointment is your first step. Please call them.

Meganlillymai · 02/08/2013 08:56

Do you think it's serious???

Well people. Was browsing Facebook when I got a friend request. They messages me saying it was a simple mistake and I noticed she worked for the NHS! Poured my problems out to her she told me to obviously see my GP as I was so worried but my gland would be up with my cold.... Feel 10000 times better!!

Meganlillymai · 02/08/2013 09:07

And after yet more examination done by myself of course after calming down. Both sides are the same just the side I've played with is slightly more prominent.

Ok. Now you feel calmer ring the GP and make an appointment to talk about your general anxiety over it all?

BeaWheesht · 02/08/2013 09:29

You need help with your anxiety, really, I know it's hard but you need to admit your problem here is anxiety.

digerd · 03/08/2013 10:16

I used to get the same gland in my neck swollen, but knew it was the tooth causing it. The neck glands are there for that purpose, to capture infection and destroy it so it doesn't spread to the rest of the body.
They usually swell up while doing this. They are part of our wonderful protection system. Once they have dealt with the nasty intruder they go back to normal ready to defend against the next attack of nasties.Smile. It happens with the cold virus too especially with a sore throat.

Meganlillymai · 03/08/2013 16:54

I've calmed down a lot since the other day, spoke to my local pharmacist who told me to stop worrying and obsessing over the same disease. He also couldn't feel the swollen nodes :/ so I then thought I was definitely loosing my mind Blush.
Came home thought I'd clear my mind give them a check then leave them. The only time I can. Feel the nodes if when I rest my chin on my chest? That's what's confusing me and that's when they feel really big?

OP posts:
Meganlillymai · 03/08/2013 16:59

Can they feel bigger when you rest your chin on your chest?

OP posts:
BeaWheesht · 03/08/2013 18:16

Listen to me please. You need help with your anxiety.

Meganlillymai · 03/08/2013 18:23

I'm going on Tuesday to get help with it. I was just wondering if they could feel bigger when chin is rested on chest

QueenQueenie · 03/08/2013 20:20

It almost certainly isn't your glands that are the problem. It is your health anxiety that you need help with.

Meganlillymai · 03/08/2013 20:28

Well I've been on a lovely walk as I heard any exercise relives anxiety and feel so much better.

OP posts:
JackieOHHH · 07/08/2013 09:23

When you're anxious about something you worry about it, which makes it worse, which makes you more anxious= vicious circle.
I've HAD lymphoma ( non-hodgkins)- and I survived, so perhaps the thought that even if you're worst thoughts became reality, you Could deal with it and come though it?

Meganlillymai · 07/08/2013 21:36

I'm sorry you've had it but great you came through it! I've always worried about cancers. Different ones but lately It's been lymphoma. No idea why :/ my glands have gotten smaller. Ther about half an inch now

OP posts:
Meganlillymai · 05/11/2013 16:18

Not sure anyone's watching this. Forgot a out my little lymoh node until other day when I got a cold again and it swelled back up. Gone down again now to smaller then it was ages ago!! Still there and hard but about the size of a small pea now! This is ok right???

OP posts:
CMOTDibbler · 05/11/2013 18:20
