I feel like I'm in labour, but I'm not pregnant. Awful pain in lower abdomen and back. I feel nauseous too. Wtf is this? Do I need to go to the doc?

UTI? Bladder infection?
Kidney infection?

Yes, I would get it checked out
Hope you feel better soon

MrsMangoBiscuit · 28/07/2013 06:16

Oh no, you poor thing. It could be something as simple as some nasty trapped wind, or that summer virus bug that's been going around (thankfully only seems to last about 2 days for the most part) or just about anything else. Have you been drinking enough fluids?

Weegiemum · 28/07/2013 06:19

Do you have a uti? Pain/burning on trying to pee? Any obvious blood in urine? Is the pain constant or coming and going every couple of minutes?

I ask because I have had this and I had a severe kidney infection and kidney stones and this sounds very similar.

There are other things it could be - appendix or even an ectopic pg (if early on you might not have realised.)

I'd call ooh doctor, if its as bad as you say. Here's hoping you feel better soon.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 28/07/2013 06:19

Have felt premenstrual the last couple of days but no period yet. Have PCOS so cycle is basically rubbish. Feeling thirsty but afraid to drink in case it all comes back up.

Could you perhaps ring the NHS Direct thingy or go to A&E, could be something serious???

Could be appendicitis or kidney stones which both need to be checked by a proper medic and not just left.

Weegiemum · 28/07/2013 06:20

Try to drink. Even if it does mostly come back up, some will be absorbed.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 28/07/2013 06:21

Had my appendix out years ago. Feel weird a out going to doc. What if its nothing serious? I'd feel a right eejit wasting the docs time.

Got back late last night from A&E with Dd2 who had had exactly the same symptoms. While she was there she did a wee sample & a small gritty lump was in it.

They think she had renal colic & passed a kidney stone.Scan asap to see if any more.

Can someone get you to A&E?

singaporeswing · 28/07/2013 06:23

Are you getting waves of pain?

MildDrPepperAddiction · 28/07/2013 06:25

It's worse at some times than others but no distinct 'waves' of pain. DCs will be up soon.

OP posts:
MildDrPepperAddiction · 28/07/2013 06:27

No blood in urine that I can notice.

Bearandcub · 28/07/2013 06:30

Go to the Dr's

Weegiemum · 28/07/2013 06:31

You could take a dose of an anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen but if it is a kidney stone you might well need stronger stuff you'd only get in hospital.

MissMarple - your poor dd2, kidney stones are excruciating (I'd rather go through labour than have one again).

RaspberrySnowCone · 28/07/2013 06:33

I get this sometimes, the day before my period arrives. Crippling pains for about half an hr, then upset tummy then exhaustion. The next day my period usually arrives. Go to the Dr, it's not normal for a period to cause so much pain if that's what it is

MissMarplesBloomers · 28/07/2013 06:34

Yep was pretty crap....)

She had a hefty dose of liquid morphine so is sleeping like a baby at the mo!!

yegodsandlittlefishes · 28/07/2013 06:51

How are you getting on, op? Is there a neighbour or relative who could look after your DCs while you see a doctor?

jennimoo · 28/07/2013 06:55

I had period like pains and thought it was af returning after baby, and it was the worst pain I've felt. Turned out to be a UTI / kidney infection.

Whatever it is you need to go see a dr today I reckon.

BalloonSlayer · 28/07/2013 07:06

Have you done a pregnancy test? Don't want to scare you but ectopic pregnancy sprang to mind.

alreadytaken · 28/07/2013 07:07

yes you need to see a doctor if you have severe pain. As you have pcos it could be a cyst causing problems, uti or simply bad period pains.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 28/07/2013 07:56

Thanks everyone. I fell back to sleep and feel a little better. If it doesn't go later ill get DH to bring me to ooh.

SunnyL · 28/07/2013 08:03

Mild i've had about 12 kidney stones in my time and about 50 kidney infections and you have described the symptoms almost perfectly of an infection or stone. You need to get checked out soon because leaving these things untreated can cause long term problems such as stones, high blood pressure and scarring. Don't be a hero. Drs take you very seriously when you describe these symptoms. I have never peed blood but when they do the dip test of your urine it shows up.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 28/07/2013 08:54

Mild, you could be causing yourself severe proplems if you leave it, or need emergency treatment which would be far worse than going to ooh.

Have you had a massive fart and the pain completely disappeared? No? Then go and seek some advice from a doctor, and please make it quick. I've been to the ooh doctor with things that have turned out to be minor, and they would much prefer you did that than suffer in silence and end up in a & e. Every hour counts, don't leave it!

Weegiemum · 28/07/2013 09:05

What everyone is saying about urgency is true. A kidney stone can block your ureter and cause urine to be trapped in the kidney, causing damage. I suffered from kidney stones in pregnancy - passing tiny stones week after week, it really is serious and you can do permanent damage. Please don't wait.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 28/07/2013 09:11

I've got pcos and have had a ruptured cyst a couple of times and it was horrible.

Could it be that?

PoppyWearer · 28/07/2013 09:12

It sounds like gallstones to me, especially the nausea, in which case you have my huge sympathy.

Get to A&E if you can and make sure you ask about gallstones/kidney stones. Get some proper pain relief - don't leave without a prescription for strong co-codamol. Then see your GP tomorrow and get referred for tests.

Take care x
