GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/05/2013 08:58

Good luck with the assessment nj :)

topsyturner · 23/05/2013 09:16

Forgot to say yesterday that I love the new name Ruby Smile

Mas chemo meds or anti sickness meds ?
It happens , I'm always forgetting to take my tabs .
I feel like an old lady when DH says "did you take your tablets" on a daily basis !

Nj good luck today .

Any news from Figgy about Mr Figgy yet ?

And Cop , did you fall into the flower beds at Chelsea ???

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/05/2013 09:47

uh,it was the chemo meds Blush

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/05/2013 10:04

Thank you topsy how are you this morning?

Oops MAS! Do you just have to miss that dose or could you tack it on to the end of the cycle? Thank you for reminding me to take mine though! :)

Thinking of Figgy and MrFiggy

I'm going to the scary wool shop later in search of wool for my next woolly hugs square. Scary because the owner doesn't really appreciate customers trying to buy things Hmm and there's barely room to move around the shop. There's a much nicer shop a few towns away but too far to go when I'm being all feeble :)

I hope everyone slept soundly and is having a good day so far!

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/05/2013 10:38

think I'll tack it on to the end of the round of tablets- I blame The Apprentice Grin
We have a scary model shop in town- think League of Gentlemen- took T in as a young boy trying to find an easy model plane to make and they were spectacularly unfriendly -have never been back since.
Good luck with wool buying Smile

Copthallresident · 23/05/2013 13:48

Me in flower beds? No... Actually just had marathon sleep in bed, body finally gave in Smile

Chelsea wonderful, mindfulness garden for mas as well as diagnosis garden. I'll put some pics on Fbook page. Forgot my camera though, so camera pics so not as great as could be. KK and those without Facebook www.rhs.org.uk/Shows-Events/RHS-Chelsea-Flower-Show/2013/Gardens/Garden-directory/The-Arthritis-Research-UK-Garden though doesn't show the start of the garden which is all about how you first feel life is over, very moving, (please vote for the garden for people's choice if you go there as whilst the best in shows well deserved it I think this garden deserves recognition too) and www.rhs.org.uk/Shows-Events/RHS-Chelsea-Flower-Show/2013/Gardens/Garden-directory/The-Mindfulness-Garden picture doesn't do justice to fact you look down a mirrored tube which gives the engraved circle an ethereal quality.

Now just planning how to get a billabong and Tatami house into back garden............

Woolwich thing terrible, that image of man with cleaver horrific and yes Topsy sadly some ignorant people will be racist about it. Charlie Brooker did a brilliant bit on Ten O clock Live taking the piss out of all those idiots who outed Boston Bomber suspects based on reviewing the footage, and basically identifying any brown person as a suspect. Of course the actual bombers were white. Channel 4 have taken down all the youtubes of it but it will be on demand , I think it was Episode 3. Wish you could share it on Facebook, though thought you said it very well...

La la la as haven't watched Apprentice yet but hoping most loathesome over made up witches and boasty thrusting boys stay on until June 3 as Big Copt and I have tickets for filming of "Your Fired" and want to enjoy holding up big red card, not sure who for most Grin Did you see all the pictures in press of one of them proving she lives up to first two of her claims that she has "the energy of a Duracell bunny, sex appeal of Jessica Rabbit and a brain like Einstein?s" (Big Copt excellent source of such gossip) but of course they are recruited for their business ability, strange I have never encountered their type in all the organisations I worked in / with who did aim to recruit on business ability Hmm

Malt I have more or less broken every rule on that list which for me would be very life limiting in terms of gardening, weekly food shop etc. I get scratched, lift heavy objects, I epilate under that arm and I think someone on here mentioned that so fed of mining for veins in good arm that use bad arm, and I had all my lymph nodes removed. I do notice that arm sometimes gets more achey but been lucky I suppose. I also did all the exercises and then continued to build up my arm in gym (but you can do similar exercises at home with tins of tomatos etc.) However as others have pointed out it is about being sensible, it is likely you will have minimal surgery and won't be so at risk and you will get plenty of support with exercises etc.

KK totally support you with excile to sofa as I have exiled DH to spare room on account of richter scale snoring, and also stopping breathing followed by loud cry of AH! He moans occasionally but refuses to do something so unmanly as get advice about it to reduce it (and I reckon it affects his health as well) so we are at an impasse. If "my game is so exciting" is such a justification then clearly you can get up to whatever exciting activities you want to regardless of whether it wakes him when he is already deeply uncomfortable (you could put itching powder in bed just to give him the full experience). Have you managed to persuade him?

gigs Have you thought of incentives as well as sanctions. Big Copt used to be an absolute pain about getting dressed for school and making us late (she also youngest in year plus I was breastfeeding and dressing Little Copt) but Reception Teacher, who thankfully she adored, and I solved that one by her getting a sticker from teacher each day she was good about it and if 5 at end of week she got to take friend for tea and play in Terrace Gardens. Little Copt wasn't the norm at all, not exactly difficult, just more of hippy who would sit there daydreaming and singing to herself whilst completing task at glacial pace, I think she was bemused as to why anyone would ask her to do something that was blatantly impossible (for her) but fortunately teachers shared my suspicion she was dyslexic and kept the pressure off until she was ready for early intervention with specialist teacher. I would make sure teacher is focused on big gigs needs rather than conforming to schools and alpha mums agenda IYSWIM

Ruby Once unwittingly took the sweet little Copts into this shop www.weblocal.ca/reviews-christmas-village-the-original-victoria-bc.html Shock Obviously we were thrown out for touching the things we were going to buy ..........shame as I really love tasteless deccies.

Sorry another marathon post. Waves to all and hope you are having a good day, goes off singing < She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone>

jchocchip · 23/05/2013 16:55

Heck it was bright sunshine but now I'm sat on bus in hailstorm :( can't do mega post but liked your pics, copt. Someone put kettle on I'll need a Brew when get in! Have toblerone if anyone fancies it.

jchocchip · 23/05/2013 16:58

Meant to say have similar wool shop here :( can't fight to back of shop without knocking something down and no prices...

malteserzz · 23/05/2013 17:55

Hope everyone's ok, you've been quiet today good that means everyone's busy
I've had a lovely day at work, bittersweet as will finish tomorrow and not know when I can go back if ever
Hmm

malteserzz · 23/05/2013 18:00

Ignore my overdramaticness !
Meant to say thanks copt for the advice I guess you do just have to get on with things or you'd go mad
Nj how did it go today ?
Hope everyone has a good evening, sunny here now after I've been freezing and wet all day!

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/05/2013 18:00

am sure you'll be back at school once your treatment is done -don't think forwards though, one day at a time is best (as am sure you know)
T had his dinner jacket fitting this afternoon and it was all very easy- the man found a perfect fitting jacket, shirt and trousers and a black bow tie and cufflinks- is was a transformation -he looked fabulous -almost sobworthy ! awww.
Got caught in the hail earlier -bloody freezing.

notJenkins · 23/05/2013 18:07

Good evening from me.

Glad he found a jacket that fitted mas bet he looks all growed up in it !

malt of course you will get back to work when it is all done and dusted.

kk hope you got a good night last night.

ruby love the new name.

copt the pictures of that garden are lovely.

Well my occ health appt lasted all of 15 minutes and he basically agreed to all that my manager had already ie minimum stress and no urgent work, working at home as much as possible etc etc. so all good really.

Waving to everyone else.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/05/2013 18:14

Gah wool lady somehow ended up selling me the wrong wool despite me telling her I didn't wanted that kind. She showed it to me all knitted up and then had to go hunt for the colour out back, by which time I was feeling grim and feeling about to throw up so just paid without looking in the bag Hmm Never mind it's a nice wool so will find a use for it.

malt you'll be going back but like MAS says best not to think that far ahead for now. I've been planning to go back to work since January but Dr W keeps signing me off again, now I'm signed off until two weeks before end of contract so I won't be working again :( the treatment has to come first for now though :)

MAS sounds fab, I'm glad his outfit is all sorted! Is he excited? I remember very mixed emotions on my leavers day, didn't go to Y11 prom as was all very political and one of organisers pocketed lots of the money! Is he staying on at same school for sixth form?

Brew for jchoc I hope you are home safe and warm by now!

It hailed here earlier but now very sunny.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/05/2013 18:15

Cross posted notJ glad the appointment went well and everyone is in agreement :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/05/2013 18:24

hooray nj -that all sounds good !
T will be going on to 6th form college with most of his year - the leaver's do sounds nice as it's at the school in the gym which is all decorated and a live band and 3 course dinner with cocktails all served by the teachers !

KurriKurri · 23/05/2013 18:39

Lovely garden pictures copt, am very Envy also Envy of you're fired tickets - make sure you wave your red madly so we can all see youGrin

MAS - am sure tablets will be Ok tacked onto end. Have you got an old lady pill box to remind you? like me

NJ - glad OH appt went well, and that you'll be able to work more from home - sounds v.sensible.

Hope you survived scary wool shop Ruby, we have a second hand book shop where I live that we call Black Books - after the TV show, because they are so rude and never want to sell you any books. I tried to get DS a book for his English revision in there once and the woman told me 'there's no point - if he doesn't know it now, he's not going to pass anyway' Grin

Jchoc - we had hail earlier too - but its looking a bit sunnier now.

Am waiting for Dh to get home - I cut my finger rather nastily earlier, and he is bringing steri strips - have been sitting with my arm in the air trying to stop it bleeding, which seems to have worked for the moment, it's really throbbing though - am typing slowly and one handedly Grin

love to all, - DH did come to bed at a more reasonable time last night, but I couldn't get to sleep because that song 'her name was Lola, she was a showgirl' kept going round in my head - it was like having a little orange Barry in my brain Grin

Copthallresident · 23/05/2013 18:40

Mas That sounds amazing and I am sure you are in for lots of feelings involving bursting, pride, blinking back tears etc.

Ruby We got your hail too, it moved east!

Copthallresident · 23/05/2013 18:47

KK Xposted, hope your finger is better soon but do go get it stitched if doesn't stop. I walked around with a big towel wrapped around finger and held in air for hours trying to get out of going to get it stitched but had to in end , I think it was the shame of admitting I had done it when I took a knife to the packaging of a fake designer handbag, ....................

notJenkins · 23/05/2013 18:52

Hope the finger is ok kk you must get it looked at if it does not stop bleeding. How on earth did you manage that ?

Forgot to say that the dr took great pains to point out that I am now disabled as I have cancer. He must have seen my Shock face as he tried to backtrack. A dr with no tact. Whoever would have thought it Grin

KurriKurri · 23/05/2013 18:59

Ha and Shock at doctor nj - he's lucky you are so disabled and couldn't kick him in the shins Grin

I Did my finger with a stanley knife (when will I learn to stay away from stanley knives???) cutting some thick card and the knife slipped. DD has wrapped it in a huge cartoon style bandage for the moment - am awaiting DH and the steri strips. I think it has stopped bleeding now, but its v.sore- have taken a sort of slice off the side by the nail (not right off - but I want to make sure it joins back together properly) I am a clumsy idiot Blush

malteserzz · 23/05/2013 19:12

Hope your fingers ok Kurri stay away from the Stanley knives!
Nj how nice of the doctor- not !

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 23/05/2013 20:45

Owch KK your poor finger, I hope DH is home with steri strips now. I did something similar a while back, sliced the top off my finger off while cutting a bagel, I had to run to Boots to look for steri strips (luckily pre-cancer while living in flat in high street) but they didn't have any so then had to go to Sainsbury's instead, by which time I'd bled through the plaster and had blood running down my arm Hmm Grin it's healed up beautifully though, just a very faint line visible, so hopefully yours will be the same - no more Stanley knives though! :)

notJ Shock Grin at tactless doctor!

MAS that sounds lovely, I hope T enjoys it. Good lots of them sticking together at college.

cop the garden pics look fabulous. How are exams going?

I hope everyone is having a good evening. I'm just excitedly packing up my first Woolly hugs squares! :)

KurriKurri · 23/05/2013 20:54

Finger is all steri stripped up now - it looked OK when I took the comedy bandage off Grin although is a rather interesting shade of purple!
DH has confiscated the Stanley knife Grin I will stick to blunt ended scissors from now on.

Well done on the woolly hugs squares - I've done a few in the past - it is such a lovely idea.
I'm trying to knit a pair of gloves for my sister (I knitted her a pair for Christmas but she's lost one, so I said I do another pair) but the finger will halt me for a couple of days which is annoying.

T's prom sounds as if it will be lovely MAS - and good that he is going to college with people he knows - has he decide what subjects he's doing yet?

jchocchip · 23/05/2013 21:12

Aw kk but at least you are all stuck up now! Bet T looks smart :)
nj Hmm at another dr with no tact/ bedside manner.
Thanks for the Brew when I got in from work- fortunately I avoided the hail but I saw pics of snow in scotland Shock
Been for swim and gym tonight so much better day than yesterday. And rac fixed car very expensive new battery :(

jchocchip · 23/05/2013 21:13

And now I remember the toblerone :)
