topsyturner · 20/05/2013 18:05

Yep , consultant said "it could be cancer , it could just be infection" .
Lungs themselves haven't developed anything new .
So there we have it .
Mystery Me again Grin

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 18:05

Trice it's hard not to feel like a walking pharmacy isn't it ?

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 18:06

I made chicken carbonara and salad Malt .
Dodgy nodes have not diminished my appetite Grin

AshokanFarewell · 20/05/2013 18:26

trice good luck with capecitabine. I've had sickness and diarrhoea from mine but manageable with the right medication so hopefully won't be a problem for you.

topsy fingers crossed for just an infection, and yay for no treatment needed :) enjoy your chicken carbonara.

malt I had a similar situation when I read a seemingly harmless leaflet that said "this regime is used to treat advanced bowel cancer" the advanced bit really freaked me out. I've worked up the courage to read most of my oncologist's letters but there is one that I have never read, his first one, which my boyfriend at the time read on my behalf and hid from me. I have no idea where it is now and I'm glad really, it had all the stats and they weren't very cheerful :) anyway they will tell you everything you need/want to know at appointments so if you find it better to just not read the letters then that's perfectly okay.

I'm just trying to catch up on all the knitting I couldn't do while in hospital, so am days behind on my two projects - badger and squares for woolly hugs. Am also watching the first series of Case Histories so that I can watch the second one which started yesterday :)

I hope everyone is having a lovely day! :)

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 19:02

That sounds yum topsy- chicken casserole with dumplings here.

Have been eating like a steroid fiend all day- making up for ask week.

Big gig playing up and not working at school (won't write which think is laziness as can read z, spell etc). Had to use the " I will tell dad" line as I have no effect.

Still need dressing in wound but have silver dressing to help last bit heal. Leg aching so better mention that tomorrow. Not looking forward to onc visit.

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 19:02

Will tomorrow involve wahaca mas?

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 19:33

I think it might well involve Wahaca as have mentioned margaritas to them...
Is it onc tomorrow gig ?

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 19:38

What time is apt tomorrow Gigs ?
And Mas , have a margarita for me please !

I have eaten my own body weight in pasta , and I'm debating going back for seconds .

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 19:44

will do..

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 19:53

Gigs good luck for your appointment tomorrow
MAS have sex on the beach for me please Grin
Ash I think you're right, sometimes best just not to read them they just sound so serious
Topsy you must have my appetite, I knew it was somewhere !

Feel really fed up with everything tonight, can't concentrate to read. Would normally be planning lessons etc but don't need to do that anymore, everything on tv makes me sad or reminds me of what life used to be like, don't really know what to do with myself.

trice · 20/05/2013 19:58

I have just had some lovely rhubarb fool and am settling down to watch case histories too.

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 20:00

What us? On steroids? topsy and gig

Appt at 2 but blood test before- I suppose its cos have been waiting on this to see what happens next/when . Even stuff like trip to Hampton court( thanks Copt will pm).

I will get on with updating on meet up this week tho .

Malt - the letter probably makes the mourning feeling worse.

Sat in kitchen as living room being decorated now... Luckily it's close to more food.

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2013 20:04

Just quick pop on to check on topsy apt. Good news nothing new in lungs and good that they are keeping a close eye on you.

Good luck tomorrow gigs hope your appointment with onc goes well.

Really sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up but thinking of you all. Loving the baby rook mas but my goodness he is noisy.

malt hope you are feeling a little less stressed.

Good luck to all exam DCs. We have a stressed house. DS1 has only done 2 papers so far so another 18 to go Shock. My mum fell on Friday night so I have hurt my shoulder trying to lift her up Sad thankfully she is only a bit bruised.

Really missing catching up with you all. Sorry to all those I have missed x

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 20:08

poor mum and poor you gracie Sad is she ok ?
Loads of good luck tomorrow gig
malt rude ! I have to have margaritas as they are my very favourite cocktail Grin

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 20:17

Just one margarita mas?

I am going to go shopping after appt . Cake may be bought...

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 20:19

Gracie hope your mums ok

I'll cope, we all have to don't we :)

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2013 20:20

Thanks mas she was a bit shaken but thankfully only bruised. She fell a few years ago and as she split her head. She is on Warfarin and after crawling to the phone to call me she bled so badly all her carpets had to be replaced due to the blood loss so this fall could have been a lot worse.

Figgyroll · 20/05/2013 20:21

Evening all, tried to catch up but failed miserably - I read but cant remember any of it. Do the effects of chemo affect brain 2 years after treatment? I think it must Grin

Topsy, great that there is nothing new in lungs and, as others have said, node enlargement could be due to lots of things.

Gigs, very good luck for tomorrow's appointment.

KK, I seem to remember that you're suffering from the old shingles again. I hope they're on their way out.

MAS, have a lovely day tomorrow and good luck to T for his exams. He is having some yummy brain-food treats and I hope they do the trick.

Ash, am very jealous of you knitting. I started knitting lessons, had two and was completing a square in basket-stitch then DH had his kidney cancer dx and I haven't been since as I can't concentrate on a thing. Maybe I will start when he's recovered from his op.

Talking of which, he has had his pre-op tests this morning but has to go back tomorrow for further bloods and an echocardiogram as the ECG showed an 'abnormality' so he is a bit stressed about that. He is having a partial nephrectomy on Thursday morning and all the leaflets he's been given point out to a long and painful recovery. He's been acting and working as normal but it finally hit him today and there have been tears Sad from both of us.

Love to all you ladies. xx

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 20:41

Gracie-hope your mum ok.

Figgy-lots of love to you and dh. Hope op goes smoothly.

graciesmall09 · 20/05/2013 20:50

figgy hope your DH's op goes well.

kurri sorry I missed you had shingles again. Hope it isn't too painful and hopes the meds do what they should.

smee · 20/05/2013 21:06

((((hugs for Figgy)))) have been wondering how your DH was getting on. Will be thinking of him on Thursday. How's DS2 taking it? Hope he's okay, as that must add to the stress. Sad

Gracie, your poor mum. My dad's on Warfarin and that bleeding is scary, so good it wasn't so bad this time, but ouch on your shoulder.

Gigs, will stay on the box and be zooming vibes of kind, gentle understanding to Onc for you.

Hope you aren't hit by side effects, Trice. Keep talking to us, at the very least we can distract you. x

MAS, glad to hear DS is getting through his exams. Have a fantastic day tomorrow. Now you've gone and mentioned margaritas I think I need one too. Grin

Kurri, how are the shingles today?? Are you feeling any better? And what happened about your mum's house sale/ new flat? Did she get her offer accepted? Sorry if I missed that.

How long until your op now, Malt? You're bound to be unsettled. I don't think I could do anything much before mine.

Topsy, I think if you want to eat your own body weight in pasta, you're allowed. Hope you've got some Wine too. Clear lungs sounds like a reason to celebrate to me. Smile Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 21:34

loads of good luck to Mr figgy for his op- will be thinking of you both

I may stretch to 2 margaritas...

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 21:50

Figgy good luck to your dh x

Smee my op is 2 weeks tomorrow still seems ages away, going in on wed for pre op tests which is worrying me too.

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 22:28

Can I just off load a big moan ?
DH has a cold .
I moaned less when I had terminal fecking cancer !!!!

I've done the caring wife bit , made him cups of sweet tea .
But he insisted on sitting on the fainting couch sofa all evening sighing and groaning .

Thank fuck he's finally gone to bed Grin

As you were , rant over .

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 22:31

Good luck to Mr Figgy , hope his further tests throw up no more problems .

Gigs that link won't let me click on it , have you posted a pic of me chowing down like a hungry hippo ???
