You all out there? Pop this way!

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 20/05/2013 13:05

Oh fancy making boys dance, most would hate it. Good on Mini Smee for being tall enough to hide. Grin

I think it is going to be a bit competitive, yes. I got elbowed out of the queue for help yesterday by the Mum whose son is playing one of the leads (his fabric is velvet, dontcha know - but ha! Boo Sucks to her because it turns out hers is a sod to cut and to sew).

Copthallresident · 20/05/2013 13:26

Aw sometimes I loved a good costume project, sending my sewing vibes to you. Know well the challenges of matching the teachers vision, as have been the sucker who took it on a few times, it is a bit much to expect parents to develop sewing skills and deep pockets in response. It doesn't sound as if it will be too much to ask of someone with a sewing machine, if it is cut out. smee alpha mums around here definitely didn't do sewing, it's a bit too trade and old ladyish, just expected someone to magic up beautiful pristine costume that makes their DD look the best, had one in tears on phone because she reckoned the one I had renovated out of the costume cupboard smelled, which it did but only of wardrobes and moth balls, not unpleasant but you would think I had shat on it. Also too posh to nit comb .........

Good thing is that by secondary school it seems that the principal they hire costumes is widely accepted, fairer on everyone.

smee · 20/05/2013 13:35

Ha to velvet mum! Weirdly the boys all think dancing's cool and DS in total awe of the boys who are doing solo's. They've got some sort of inspirational dance tutor in at school. Not sure where they're from, but I'm taking him to see Stomp for his birthday, as they showed them clips of that and he came home full of it. Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 20/05/2013 13:45

Ooh, where's that on then?

Copt you sound dangerously like you know your way round a sewing project (and pushy Mums). Am envious. And am also off to the charity shop to see if I can find a roll neck top in a colour that will pass muster with the Costume Police - ludicrous time of year to ask people to source a roll neck top, I reckon charity shop is going to be the only available route.

How you doing Topsy? My bum's still on the box....

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 13:48

waves frantically at sometimes !! and well done to dd for her acting prowess - I would be perfectly crap at making costumes though. Fortunately T's GCSE drama things have only required minimal props (usually remembered about 5 minutes before school)

sparklesunshine · 20/05/2013 13:56

Hi all,

I'm ok, kid free all weekend and I've drunk a bit too much. I'd pretty much completely cut out since the diagnosis so it feels weird to be back on again. Seems to drop my mood, as people here have been saying. Think I'll avoid it again for a while.

It's been good to get some proper sleep, the girls have been unpredictable for that. I'm also seriously bristling at living with my mother. It's not something I ever meant to do. She's supportive and we more or less get along, just have very different ways of doing things. She also lashes out a wee bit when she's stressed, which I obviously don't enjoy and especially worry about my girls being on the receiving end of. I'm hoping it will get better as things settle and I've already raised it with her, so we'll see.

Waves to everyone, sewing for a play sounds exciting and very time consuming.

Copthallresident · 20/05/2013 14:08

Sometimes they always want winter stuff in summer and vive versa Hmm Sewing prowess not helpful when asked to source an ass's head for Little Copt's Bottom Grin Thank goodness we now have google, it does have some uses www.amazon.co.uk/Rubber-Overhead-Masks-bm160-Horse/dp/B000VO767K That's come in very handy since though, almost daily ...... Grin

Sparkle Hi. I can imagine it is very difficult for you both to adjust to communal living, I hope it settles down because you don't need added stress. Sorry you have fallen foul of Copt's Law!

Sometimesiwonder · 20/05/2013 14:10

Hi MAS and Sparkle

Living with parents again is always tricky Hmm

Alcohol is also a bit less appealing once you get onto the tamoxifen, I found. Gives you flushes, makes sleeping hard and has a strange effect on thought processes, but that may just be me....

Sometimesiwonder · 20/05/2013 14:11

Ah I could resort to Google, 'tis true, Copt

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 14:30

Copts law holds true when no tamoxifen.

I am lucky that dm dab hand with sewing machine. Also so far school been good on general suggestions or even amazon tips on costumes.

Waves to sparkle, sometimes and heads back to books. Nurse checking my wound later (slow healing Due to radio effects apparently ) but its nearly healed per dh ( I cant see as on back of my leg). The neck scars are of course fine .

smee · 20/05/2013 14:35

Stomp for Sometimes

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 14:39

I haven't read today's posts I'm sorry I will later
Come home to a letter the gp has forwarded me from my consultant, it says that the quick drag cytology showed c5 aspirate and core biopsy confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma of B5b what do the numbers mean ??

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 15:01

Don't worry, have googled

topsyturner · 20/05/2013 15:42

Hospital done .
Got an enlarged lymph node at top of lung . Not enlarged enough to warrant any treatment though .
Changed from 4 monthly scans to 3 monthly to keep an eye on it .

smee · 20/05/2013 15:43

Ooh, Topsy. Cautious cheering then?? That sounds good to me. Am I right?

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 15:43

That's still good news tho in sense n treatment at minute and assume lungs looking ok still.

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 15:44

Oh and malt welcome to world of incomprehensible scary dr letters . I don't read mine anymore.

smee · 20/05/2013 15:52

That's what I meant too, Topsy. Lungs sound still clear and presumably lymph node could be anything, so not necessarily cancer?

Malt, I don't understand it all either. Try not to google too much. x

Gigondas · 20/05/2013 15:55

Malt -if you write down or dh does what dr says that should cover what is in letter as it is arse covering clarifying what have been told in a lengthy jargony way that fails all normal rules on good communication .

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 16:07

Just wrote a reply where's it gone ???

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 16:09

Anyway to paraphrase
Topsy sounds like its something to keep an eye on rather than worry about
Think it was the black and whiteness which freaked me out and the invasive word
Then I had a little ramble about how people react to you having cancer
That was about it

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 16:29

am sure that's the same as what you've already been told malt
topsy lymph node could be general run down-ness perhaps - not necc. anything untoward..but good that they are keeping an eye.
A walk to town and back to buy nutritious brain soothing things for T -he says Chem was quite hard and English was ok- he's in a jolly mood at any rate.
Am off to london town tomorrow to meet my bestie and 2 lovely fb friends - lunch on the S Bank and a general amble around - v exciting !

trice · 20/05/2013 17:05

I am just about to start out on my capecitabene. I have a colour coded timetable with all my meds on - its pretty much a full time job getting everything in at the right time. I really hope this shrinks my mets smartish. I am sick of being sick.

Topsy, I will join everyone else in looking determinedly on the bright side. No treatment required has to be good.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/05/2013 17:09

good luck with the capecitabine - it's tolerable once the dose is right, though am still feeling a bit sick this cycle.

malteserzz · 20/05/2013 18:04

MAS sounds like you have a lovely day out tomorrow planned, enjoy I love London :)
Trice good luck with your new meds fingers crossed for few side effects
Hope everyone has a good evening I'm just doing the cub run and wondering what I can be bothered to cook and eat for tea
