Now I'm booked in to have the doctor do it. Sad Where has it gone? They've found it every other time. Confused

Has anyone else had a cervix that's gone AWOL?

So are you going to ring today? Ask for the specialist who can actually find a cervix please.

flakjacket · 19/04/2013 10:56

And they need to use the extra long speculum Confused

Growlithe · 19/04/2013 10:57

I'll ring in a bit. DH works from home and is on a call, so I'll wait till he's finished when check his diary, cos he might have to do the school run if he doesn't come with me.

I'll definitely ask for the cervix detective. Grin

Oh no Sad. Take a torch and a map.

GinGuzzler · 19/04/2013 11:02

Ring lost and found Grin

LilRedWG · 19/04/2013 11:03

Mine is also tilted and likes to play hide and seek. Good luck!

Growlithe · 19/04/2013 11:23

Just phoned. They have told me to go to a particular clinic because they have the 'special chair' there, and also said their nurses WILL find it because they do them day in and day out. Grin

Monday morning it is then.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2013 12:07

Ooh good luck. The special chair eh?

Growlithe · 19/04/2013 13:27

Thanks. Yes 'special chair' - it's like 50 shades all over again - not. Grin

Mine sometimes hides a bit, but never needed the Special Chair. Last smear the nurse said 'goodness me it is in a odd place isn't it, its almost 6 o'clock!' I thought bloody hell I thought it was only about half past ten in the morning...

digerd · 19/04/2013 20:43

In 1985 when I first went to my gyny in Germany, she had a 'special chair'. They all had them and most likely had them for decades before that. They also had their own microscope to diagnose any infections.

Back in UK , I still have to lie on a bed ? At GP the bed is next to the wall with no room at the bottom end so smear test is done from the side.
My Cervix can be found, but is wonky, so have to yank everything towards them to get at the hole. It was agony!!

Why are there so few 'proper' gyny chairs in UK?

Growlithe · 19/04/2013 20:55

digerd I wondered that. Obviously they must be more expensive, and I suppose there is actually one available in the clinic just down the road from me, albeit not in my own doctor's surgery.

If its a success, I'll know where my first port of call will be in 3 years time! It will be known forever as the Growlithe Chair! Grin

OP
Good luck with the Growlithe chair!

Sparklingbrook · 07/05/2013 22:44

Sorry to bump Growlithe but did they find it?

Growlithe · 08/05/2013 06:32

No Sparkling - I had thrush. Blush she gave me the oral treatment for it for free though, so that was a bonus I suppose.

I was supposed to go back after a week but Af came again, so I'll have to go next Monday.

She didn't even have a special chair, but she did say she liked a challenge, so fingers crossed. Grin

Thanks for asking.

This happened to me when I went to get the Mirena put in. The couldn't find my damn cervix to get it in. I'd never had a problem with smears or anything before. I had to go back when I had my period and despite contorting into some crazy positions they still couldn't find it. I had an appointment made to see a specialist but ended up getting pregnant while waiting Blush

digerd · 08/05/2013 06:50

Well, the sperm are much cleverer than the nurses then . They found it with no trouble - they must their own radar system

digerd · 08/05/2013 06:50

must have

saintlyjimjams · 08/05/2013 06:54

They always struggle to find mine as it's so retroverted. I tell them when I go in now, and they always end up admiring how far back it is. It means smears take forever and involve gymnastics. Hmm Blush

Growlithe · 13/05/2013 12:01

On the fourth attempt.... MY CERVIX HAS BEEN FOUND. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 13:42

OMG!! Where was it?

Growlithe · 13/05/2013 14:13

Where it should be, apparently. Hmm

OP posts:
fubbsy · 13/05/2013 14:19

Maybe DH did put it back Wink

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 14:19

Confused You must be relieved though.

Growlithe · 13/05/2013 14:26

Yes I am, joking aside. Just hope the results come back ok!
