Candles being lit. They may help re-heat the yummy hospital food Hmm
Cyberknife; get them to talk it through with you. Reckon that has the best zapping power.

Gigondas · 25/03/2013 19:03

Amber - great idea, have already thought about that and will ask as I know they do it at the sister hospital.

Sodding cancer- it never fails to know when I have a holiday booked Wink

Anything good on tv?

Gigondas · 25/03/2013 19:04

Smee- yes there are things can do, it's a question of what . And wish you were all here- but you sort of are virtually. And oddly I feel stronger about facing it if that makes sense as have been through it before.

amberlight · 25/03/2013 19:07

What do you fancy on the tele?

graciesmall09 · 25/03/2013 19:10

We are all behind you gigs. A girl on a facebook support group I am on has mets in her leg. She had an op a couple of years ago and has a 'pin' in her leg and her mets are stable. Think she is on some bone strengthening meds. It is good that they are acting so quickly.

smee · 25/03/2013 19:11

Still bloody annoyed for you, Gig. Doc on Boris Johnson on BBC2 at 9pm might be diverting. Or we'll distract you. Keep posting xx

Gigondas · 25/03/2013 19:36

Thanks all- that sounds positive gracie as was type of thing discussing. Also smee will pick your brains as you had spinal op when know more.

Boris thing sounds good - cant face broad church at best of times. Watching some old shonk about British menu.

smee · 25/03/2013 19:49

Sometimes has had a spinal op too. Bone is very resilient, so if they can cut it out they can fix it am sure. Smile

Copthallresident · 25/03/2013 21:41

gigs been thinking of you all evening, especially as drove past north of north of Oxford Street street twice, to pick up big and little copt, did wonder if I could divert and offer a limousine service home for you (they can wait) but I don't have the type of technology to communicate. Sad at you stuck in hospital, does your TV have lots of strange Middle Eastern soap opera channels? Those did provide some amusement, and are there neighbours in bed in burkhas? that did shock me and I just saw at least two in the windows of the London clinic from the Euston Road, or is it still Marbellybone? We are allowed to be culturally insensitive, we have Cancer, and in terms of it could be worse, I think having to wear a voluminous black burkha in bed whilst dealing with Cancer is right up there Hmm Other thing that could be worse would be to have to meet Boris..............

l4k · 25/03/2013 22:09

Just had to wish gig good luck for getting a shit hot plan of action asap. Sounds like they're on it and are just deciding which particular way to kick its arse. Hope you manage to get some rest tonight.

snailsontour · 25/03/2013 22:22

Awww gigs sorry to hear you are in the wars:( I would only add Green Tea and Manuka Honey to your arsenal. Don't know if the Manuka will help, but it will help take away the taste of the GreenTea!

Been catching up but not posting for some bizarre reason! But will try and do better.

Hi to the newbies xx

PenPerson · 25/03/2013 22:39

amber do you take all those ? Are they for all cancer or just breast ca ?

Where do you get the curcumin ? I am restarting my supps now treatment is done.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/03/2013 23:26

They sound mightily on the ball gig - one of the ladies in my group has bone mets in the base of her skull-, is being treated with bisphosphonates and I believe she had rads too.
We are virtually sitting on your bed and hugging you though this.Envy

Copthallresident · 25/03/2013 23:35

This bed is very crowded, and the crumbs... OK posh hospital where's the Wine

smee · 26/03/2013 00:04

Gig, I'm still here too. Hope you've been given some drugs to take the edge off the pain and to zonk you out. Oblivion seems the best option for now. Sleep well xx

topsyturner · 26/03/2013 00:11

Oh Fuck a Duck Gigs !!!
That's shitty in the extreme .

Now budge over in that posh hospital bed cos my house is fecking freezing
(Oil being delivered tomorrow) and share some of that posh hospital food .

reaches out and holds gigs hand

jchocchip · 26/03/2013 00:21

gig that isn't fair :( bum. Hope you get some sleep tonight and its not too noisy.

Gigondas · 26/03/2013 06:01

Aw thanks all- did manage to get some sleep , had drugs but am not in too much pain at minute. Hopefully wont have to wait too long to see doctor and find out plan.

Copt- it is indeed Arab central but am at one near cricket ground . They haven't made me wear a burkha but may need one to hide all my "scars

Curcurmin better absorbed with pepper and oil so I have it as half teaspoon of turmeric in a a couple of warmed teaspoons of coconut milk with black pepper on. It's like a bland soup.

jchocchip · 26/03/2013 07:23

Morning gig When mine were little we lived in a muslim neighbourhood and some of their clothes were so practical! And covered a multitude ;) I know, after a session in the sauna, the clothes completely changed their shape!
Brew anyone? Must dash to work across the glassy park - still no grit late last night- so glad I have spikey things over my boots!

Copthallresident · 26/03/2013 07:25

morning gigs glad you got a good sleep. Thought I'd give you a laugh over on Fb Wink

amberlight · 26/03/2013 07:26

Pen, yes I do. Did through chemotherapy (and ginger as well) and got a pCR (in other words the cancer completely sodded off). Could be sheer coincidence, but the research suggests that there's enough chemical warfare from that lot to totally confuse cancer cells.

Cancer is a semi-living-thinking thing, which is why it's so hard to kill it. It adapts itself. Bit like bacteria colonies that become resistant to antibiotics by changing their own chemistry and shape. But it's pretty stupid, and the scientists reckon it can only learn to adapt three times. So if we throw four or five different chemical types at it, it can't cope. It's why oncologists use FEC + Tax for the trickier cancers. Four different chemical bombs. Add some more to that and it boosts the chances.

So it's real science. Trouble is, taking stuff by mouth isn't that effective. Most of it doesn't get where it's going. So the science lot are trying to squeeze it into nanoparticles next...which sneak up to the cancer cells (not the good ones), dive in through their sides and release their bomb of chemicals right in the cell itself. Bingo, dead cancer. Some decent trials about which are looking at this, so worth asking onc about.

amberlight · 26/03/2013 07:28

*specifically, taking the other stuff I've mentioned by mouth. Cancer drugs designed to be taken by mouth are effective.

Gigondas · 26/03/2013 07:30

Thanks copthall!

My rl friend twat of an ex has obliged me by kicking off again- you couldn't make up what he says (apparently she was poisoning him, tricked him into having kids) so chatting about that is distracting.

Now having wobble that achy hip (just started last week) and lump means rampant cancer despite clear check in jan and my nurse saying would feel more ill if it was raging. Am also having pre op jitters.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/03/2013 07:32

yep, my drugs are converted in the stomach to active cancer killing things Smile
Hope gig gets a plan soon and is comfy...what's on the breakfast menu ?

OP posts:
Gigondas · 26/03/2013 07:35

Tea scrambled egg and toast. Not giving that up on off chance may operate early.

Dh on way in with my stuff
