Drain going's great, uwaga. Horrid things. How are you feeling?

tiredteddy, so glad to hear your mum's through her op. I think GA's always bring you down, but am sure your DD will put a smile on her face. Smile

Hello again, LadyEdith. Glad to hear you're okay. Come back more often to say hi. Smile

Copt, is your DD coming back today? Why Nottingham? Is that where she wants to go to Uni? Shock at the double bed thing. My uni hall had single beds and breeze block walls. Was more than a bit cell like.

Topsy, hooray for men shovelling snow. Hope your DD enjoyed her party. Any cake left? Could do with some Monday cheer. Smile

Did you sleep, Gig. Hope so. Is today your appt for MRI results?

Nothing much to say here. Just working away. Waving to all. Smile

uwaga getting rid of those drains is always a huge boost. and glad your mum has got the operation over with tired teddy

smee It is a conference for sixth formers who are doing Psychology and run by an outside company using Nottingham uni as a venue but it will give her a taste of Nottingham as well. Back today if she can get herself on the right bus and train Hmm What she wants to do and where changes with the wind which I suppose is normal, it was probably big cop who was unusual, she has known what she wanted to do since Year 5. At the moment it is History of Art, but not so long ago it was the English and American Studies course MAS and I have discussed. Today probably back to Psychology!! However the depth of research behind all the blue sky thinking is a little lacking........She finds it so difficult to organise herself, and that includes in exams so her results are always inconsistent, we could be looking at 3 As, she is apparently capable of it or who knows what will happen on the days. I do worry but then as friend with dyslexic child says they have to learn to cope with it themselves we can't be there to do everything for them for the rest of their lives, and it is not as though I don't know that myself..... I think I finally cracked telling left from right age 26 as it really was going to undermine my career prospects Grin

We had extra narrow beds at our uni, a failed attempt to discourage hanky panky Grin

hooray for being drainless uwaga !
Nottingham has trams which are very exciting...dh comes from a mining village nearby and we've had the odd day there.

Nottingham's lovely - my bro went there many moons ago. Copt a friend's dyslexic boy's just started at UEA doing History/ American Studies. They despaired over him, but he's doing absolutely fine and really enjoying himself. Very tough to let go when you've helped them so much due to dyslexia, but she'll fly am sure. I have all this joy to come..!

Waving to MAS. Hope you're toasty warm. Smile

Awww, thanks lovely people.

Drains are out! I feel so much better now that I don't have to carry that icky bag around everywhere. It was a bit disconcerting getting a glimpse of what remains of my right nipple (not a lot!) but the shape looks good and the surgeon was pleased with what he saw. Start expansions in 2 weeks all being well.

Hope you're all keeping warm out there!

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/03/2013 15:54

sigh- looks as though my friend probably has bc - ultrasound and biopsies taken and they seemed very concerned. Results not until 5th April. Surgery would be very stressful for her I know as her poor body is so compromised by her condition. What a complete bugger.

So much catching up to do which I will hopefully do later as heading out to pick DD up from dancing soon.

mas Sad I just hate this disease. Poor friend.

Had no broadband since Friday so glad to be back online. It took the boys 3 hours to get home from school on Friday, DS2 burst into tears when he got home as he was so wet and cold.

Hope everyone ok - will catch up on all your news later xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/03/2013 16:04

Hope the surgeon is with you soon, waiting is hard.

KurriKurri · 25/03/2013 18:15

Oh Gigs Sad - so sorry my darling, - shitty buggering disease Sad - massive hugs xxx

amberlight · 25/03/2013 18:39

Gigs, arrghhh!!! ((hugs))

OK - checklist: very very dark bedroom at night (minimises melatonin growth effect)
Vitamin D
Curcumin supplements (excellent new research on how this helps stop it/slows it down a lot, and boosts tamoxifen and other anti cancer stuff)
Lactoferrin
Omega 3
That little lot should act as a good brake to help the other stuff, and gives you a bloomin' good chance of remission.
Not that this is quite what you want to hear right now.
((more hugs))

Gigondas · 25/03/2013 18:51

Thanks amber-take a lot of those bug will be ramping it up.

Am sat in an attractive collar as have to wait and see surgeon tomorrow. Don't know much but they think something shifting and pressing on my nerve - doesn't have to be big too make much difference.

So will likely operate to clean up and stabilise - then may need radio on it. Suppose thing that surprised me was that I was previously unaware this was an issue (main onc on holiday so have no idea if she knew as my approach is never to question). I do have super surgeon and swanky hospital but please light candles for me.

Now for some yummy hospital food Hmm

smee · 25/03/2013 18:56

You mean you're stuck in overnight?? Bugger indeed. Though sounds like there's a lot they can do? Am guessing an op / radio might well get rid totally. So very, very fed up on your behalf. Wish we could all pile round and distract you with fbs and anarchic chat. xx
