smee · 13/03/2013 16:54

Very quiet on here. Grin

MAS, when's your appointment?? Hope soon.

Hope the talk's interesting, Kurri and not too long Grin

Are you okay, Topsy??

Nowt to say but am off on another run to Cardiff tomorrow, so won't be back until Friday. Might not get on here, but will be thinking of you l4k and sending positive vibes. Love to all others. Maybe everyone's hibernating.. Smile

Gigondas · 13/03/2013 17:36

I think topsy is trapped in Facebook game world on about level 68 ...

Waiting for another physio appt (-am fine, it's a check) and snow just coming down like a Christmas card.

It has been a day of dr as had routine work medical. Am very fit apparently and have lungs of a 32 year old which was remarkable given what happened according to the doctor.

Sending mas healing vibes for tooth and hugs to everyone.

NedSchneebly · 13/03/2013 18:51

Evening lovelies Smile

Busy week, work crazy today - kids seemed to be crying left, right and centre for no particular reason I am not that mean, honest

Anyone know anything about blood pressure? Had asthma check up yesterday, and she took my blood pressure it was only 106 over 70 something. She said it was quite low, but does that cause a problem? I am sure it was 120-ish over something when I was hospitalised last year. Any thoughts?

pen and I are planning a Dorset blowout lunch for when her treatment's over. it will be of epic proportions. . . . All welcome to join in! Hope you're doing OK today pen

MAS worth getting the teeth checked out if you can bear to.

Kurri might the talk be interesting anyway? Might be some similarly minded folk to chat to, and maybe a biscuit or two?

smee you're running? to Cardiff? My schoolgirl geography tells me that is a vair long way. . . Hope you have some sturdy trainers Grin

gig good news from the medical - sounds like your lungs are in great shape, despite everything. Hope phsyio appointment similarly successful.

spero I didn't have my chemo delayed but did get very neutropenic in between cycles of docetaxol - I was hospitalised with neutrophils at 0.2 and again the following cycle at 0.6 and feeling like death warmed up. Frustrating but a good decision, I would say.

Must put boy to bed. Am being descended on by the great and the good from church this evening to discuss youth work. Will check by later x x x xx

topsyturner · 13/03/2013 19:09

I'm here !!!
Avidly glued to the tv to see who our new Pope will be .
DH thinks he'll be Italian this time .

KurriKurri · 13/03/2013 19:22

Hello Ned, - it will be the weather affecting the children (either that or you are beating them Grin)

I decided against the talk in the end, - if don't go it means DH can give DD a lift to her choir rehearsal, and since it is blowing a blizzard I'd feel a bit mean making her walk! - I will go to the local meet up of the group next week instead.

topsy - tell your DH he was wrong Grin

topsyturner · 13/03/2013 19:38

Well , that'll put the cat amongst the pigeons ..... Grin

Spero · 13/03/2013 21:46

Ned - did you have to go to hospital just because you had low count or did you have other symptoms? Slightly alarmed now if you were hospitalised with 0.6 as mine was 0.7 and I am foolishly agreeing to drive quite a long way for work tomorrow! As I feel fine at moment, just tired, I assumed this would be ok...

I don't know what the consequences of low blood pressure are, but I assume its not great if it is too high or too low.

Sorry to hear of crying children - I have just watched 16 kids and counting on catch up TV and quite glad I stopped at one....

NedSchneebly · 13/03/2013 22:01

spero I had infections both times - throat/sinus the first time, and some undiagnosed thing the second time. I had a high temperature each time, and I felt completely awful, like I had been hit by a truck. The second time my temp was so high I could barely see/stand and was shipped off by ambulance at 2am! I think if you feel fine and don't have a temperature then it's probably OK. I don;t think low neutrophils are a problem per se, it just makes you more prone to infections. Take it easy, won't you?

Crying children somewhat par for the course when you're a year one teacher. . . Grin

Spero · 13/03/2013 22:17

o bugger, that sounds horrible. I think I can stop worrying then. I am obviously not that tired if I am still up noodling on the internet and hopefully if I do get an infection it isn't going to suddenly hit me driving down the M5 tomorrow...

graciesmall09 · 13/03/2013 22:43

Popping on quickly before I head off to bed. Waving to all. Will be thinking of you on Friday 14k.

spero no chemo delays for me but my bloods did drop quite a bit for last 2 - 0.2 at one stage but was just told to take it easy and I managed to avoid admission to hospital.

Hope you are ok topsy.

Must go as just realised there is a TV program on about a local girl who had locked in syndrome. Be back tomorrow to catch up.

Gigondas · 14/03/2013 06:58

No it won't spero- I just felt a bit off but put it down to staying up to watch the Olympics. When temperature went up, that is when I went In. And I also had delays cos of infection.

Low neutrophils for me were reason to be careful - it was fever or other symptoms that you had to go in for.

jchocchip · 14/03/2013 08:40

Morning peeps. Very impressed with smee running to Cardiff Grin Day off today dh working so have house to myself until ds emerges....

Will make some Brew and porridge if anyone needs some.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2013 09:25

teeth clean and sparkly and ready for dentist
Have a lovely day off jane and smee a safe trip to Cardiff

OP posts:
l4k · 14/03/2013 10:01

Have a nice day at home, Jane. Good luck at dentist, Mas.

I'm sitting in gps waiting to go in. Have caught the horrid throat infection from big ds. DH said that's what I get for keep cuddling him. I'm tempted to get gp to feel my boob whilst in there too!!!!
Waving to all.

KurriKurri · 14/03/2013 10:21

Spero - agree with others - it is not low neutrophils per se, but an infection that will land you in hospital - so sorry if my previous post didn't make that clear - hope I didn't panic you!! I'm sure you will be fine on your drive - and your neutrophils will have built up a bit since you first posted about them Smile

Smee - have a good day in Cardiff, - jane - have a lovely relaxing day off. Good luck at the dentist MAS - hope he sorts things out for you.
Sorry you have a lurgy to add to things l4k - no harm in asking GP to feel boob if you want to, - two birds with one stone and all that Grin

waving to Gracie - hope you are OK, and that you enjoyed your programme (I'm not sure what locked in syndrome is, I will google it, - is it something that you have experience of?)

Good morning to Gigs too - hope all is well with you (I always felt quite relieved in the few days after I'd finished an assignment) - your posts have made me nostalgic for the OU - I used to love getting the big parcel with all the course materials in it, so exciting, and getting all the notebooks etc I needed

Spero · 14/03/2013 10:56

Thanks for all the reassurance! I made it to Swindon and am nurturing my neutrophils with coffee and a banana.

Hope everyone has a lovely day - it is finally sunny here!

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2013 11:20

am back- dentist says the bit of filling left was loose and it leaks underneath (ew) which accounts for the pain- he drilled it out in a trice and has put in a semi-permanent filling until there's a chemo break - wants to see me for my regular check up in April to make sure my gums and other teeth are surviving Grin Not too awful a bill (£37)
Free coffee reward at Waitrose Smile
Hope everyone is having a relatively sunny day.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 14/03/2013 11:29

Well done MAS - I'm glad that is sorted, - toothache is so horrible, and £37 not too bad at all.

It's much sunnier here today, although still bitterly cold, but at least the blizzards have stopped.

I have two pairs of reed buntings visiting my bird table, - and all the other birds are pairing up and looking for nesting material - I am taking that as a definite sign of spring.

Yesterday two huge rooks landed on the lawn, one of them picked up a great big unwieldy branch twig and paraded about the lawn with it. I am sure it must have been the male, because I swear I saw the other rook shake its head in despair Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2013 11:34

arf @ your rooks kk !

OP posts:
l4k · 14/03/2013 12:17

Glad the dentist trip was ok, Mas. That should solve you problem for now, so that's good.
Kk, I thought bird watching was supposed to be boring!!

Gp said throat looks terrible. Penicillin for infection. Told her about tomorrow and she said sounds like they are being extra cautious but not to leave there without a biopsy." This needs drawing a line under" she said. She didn't want a feel!!!!

Smee, can we have some more info on running and Cardiff please? What's occurring?;)

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2013 12:19

poor 14k with bad throat..horrid. Yes,definitely make sure you get your biopsy xx

Morning All

Crossing fingers for all of those with upcoming apts . And those trying to avoid infections .

I am slowly cheering up .
Think it was a bit of a hormonal dip as I have just had a random period .
Thought I had finished with all that , but apparently not !

And also HND paid me a visit with a tub of cheeselets this morning Grin

PenPerson · 14/03/2013 12:47

Glad you are feeling better topsy.14k hope today goes ok.

I am still feeling rubbish. Weird muscle aches when doing things like chewing. I have had to ditch the celery and chewy good stuff for dark chocolate. Medical reasons you understand. Driving makes my hands and arms hurt. Walking is ok but only in slow motion for short periods.

Sofa lying is ok. Even using my ipad makes achy arms. Bugger. A week tomorrow I can have my tablets back. Can't wait. Let me at that hospital isolation room I need it to lie in quietly.

jchocchip · 14/03/2013 12:51

Sorry to hear you are so achey pen at least you can count the days until you get your tablets back.

Topsy Mmmm cheeselets.

Glad the dentist could sort you out mas

kk Grin at your birds!

topsyturner · 14/03/2013 13:59

I have a filling that needs replacing MAS
Needed doing when I was having chemo last . But I keep putting it off now as I can't bare the thought of medical treatment of any kind any more .
Anybody else found themselves almost phobic of doctors post treatment ?
