Wow, Topsy. Mighty impressive. I really can't do horses. They have big teeth and big feet. I'd have sat inside and called the fire brigade. Grin

NedSchneebly · 14/11/2012 21:04

Evening you bevvy of lovelies Smile

I am still writing to you from itchy land. . . I am seeing GP tomorrow, hoping I can get some stronger antihistamine or some steroids. Quite bored of being so scratchy. The worst bit is my mouldy booby, which is completely pink - I think it's all the little hives all joined together.

Had a rather agressive set-to with annoying lady at choir. She basically demanded a solo from the conductor, shouting her mouth off "I didn't know things were starting to be handed out ALREADY!", which is crap as the conductor was very open. Then she turned on me, "so did you all get together and decide this amongst yourselves then? " Er, no, I auditioned last week. . .Hmm She was very aggressive, and slightly scary. . .

smee good to hear there is an end n sight for the work pressures. Take it easy, won't you?

MAS very excited about my picture! For your info, MAS is doing a lovely picture for my brothers wedding, of brother, wife and 3 gorgeous nephew page boys, with Christmassy decorations and colours. Very exciting!

Did I spot sparkle popping by? SPARKLE ?? You there? Sorry I missed you. Hope you and yours are all lovely and well.

topsy glad you managed to help the horse. Must have been a bit scary. How's your psoriasis? Any better?

gracie, my old itching buddy, how's it going? Hope you are less itchy than me!

kurri good call with the snacks allowance. I do something similar, where I allow myself something treat-y a couple of times a week. Keep going, lovely lady.

Waves to all x x x x x x x

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 21:06

Now why didn't I think of that Smee ?

My surgeon was/is very very blunt .
Great at her job , but zero people skills .
But to be honest , I preferred that .
My oncologist is a real sweetie .
All the nurses and junior docs love her . And she has been great with me .

Gracie are you doing anything on Monday ?

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 21:10

X post Ned
Shall we all pay a visit to Bolshy Choir Woman ?
We could be very intimidating en masse Grin

Anyone watch this weeks Dead Meat ?
I bloody love that program .
And a new one has started on BBC3 called Some Girl . That's a laugh too .

Gigondas · 14/11/2012 21:14

Fresh meat? Yep I like that too.

Am watching 1977 totp and every other songs dh says "that's why punk started".

topsyturner · 14/11/2012 21:23

DHs brother had a (mildly successful) punk band in the dark days .
And he has actually just reformed and started gigging again !
So I am suffering watching a lot of old YouTube punk videos Grin

Gigondas · 14/11/2012 21:26

I won't mention that to dh in case that sets him off Grin

SparkleRainbow · 14/11/2012 21:55

It is me, really me!!!! I know I have been a bit rubbish.
All is ok with us, ds continues have have his health issues, bad feet again at the mo, am considering a wheel chair for times like this.
The job I am going for as a teaching job, covering maternity leave at the children's school. It far from a definite, bit of a long shot, I am very expensive, and have had a career break for a while, but I couldn't not take the opportunity. Interview on Friday, already did a sample lesson on Monday, think was ok, but only time will tell. As I am writing this I am more and more convinced not going to be successful, but would be a shame, cos I would be good at this job....heh ho!
How is everyone?

KurriKurri · 14/11/2012 22:22

Poor Ned - itchiness sounds so horrible and sore, what has set it off do you think - does the doctor have any idea?
Scary choir lady sounds completely barking Shock how rude she is. You should creep up behind her and sing a very loud note in her ear Grin

DD has been asked to play at a wedding anniversary party that one of the members of her choir is giving. And invited to stay for the Ceilidh afterwards.

Sparkle good luck with the job, I hope you get it, you certainly have as good a chance as any of the other candidates, don't convince yourself you haven't got it, - we will all send job-getting vibes Smile

topsy I'm incredibly impressed with your horse wrangling escapade! (and your friend - she sounds great1) - well done, and I'm glad the horse was OK and not hurt in any way.

I heated up last nights dinner, and put the one I made tonight in the fridge - at least I won't have to cook tomorrow Grin

DH has gone out to dinner with a visitor to his work (someone they want to smooch up to I think) - he hates things like that - gets very nervous and says the wrong thing. He's not home yet, so am hoping it went OK.

MAS - domperidone is good stuff, glad it works for you Smile I'm not convinced of the effectiveness of the wrist bands, I'd totally forgotten I had them, - only discovered them when I was searching in the first aid box for some burn cream (which I didn't have, I do seem to have an industrial sized pack of sennakot though which must also be from my chemo days - any takers for that? it's only a couple of years out of date Grin)

smee · 14/11/2012 22:53

Will start buffing up my scars for you Ned in case you need us. She sounds horrid. Shock

MAS, hope hands aren't too sore now. Do they keep you awake at night? I have those wrist bands. Definitely worth a try, though DH brought them for me in desperation during chemo. They didn't work sadly, but DS uses them for dressing up. Apparently they communicate to HQ.. Confused

Kurri, hope DH returns home soon having survived the smooching. Must be very hard for him to have that as part of his work. On supper, if it makes you feel any better, I did the same with our meal a few nights ago. I cut up a mountain of butternut squash to roast, then realised we'd still got a huge mound of pilaff. Do you think it's contagious?! Grin

KurriKurri · 14/11/2012 23:01

I think it's delayed chemo brain Smee Grin or in my case possibly old age and losing of the marbles!

I hate to waste food - especially I think when you are vegetarian, there is often a lot of preparation, cutting and chopping to do - so I quite often make meals which are designed to last a couple of days. It's a good system unless I completely forget I've made something Grin

I've got book club tomorrow - we are doing The White Tiger, which I really enjoyed - I would highly recommend it if anyone is looking for a good, thought provoking read.

Copthallresident · 15/11/2012 00:00

KK Please stop by, I could keep you going with Crown Prince past Christmas....Forget virtual victuals I have an actual Pumpkin mountain this year, HUGE things lined up all around the kitchen. I have no idea how to use them, I've been through Sarah Raven, Ottolenghi and everyone who ever wrote about what to do about a veg glut. I already have cupboards full of jars of Plum and Marrow everything. I cut into one and have five or six meals out of it and it gets no smaller, and then goes off. Neighbours this year are bemused by me turning up with fruit and veg, you don't do this sort of thing in Twickers....... Loved White Tiger, lucky you to get to discuss it in Book Club!

Ned Shock now I'm going to have nightmares about female choirs. Do let us have a go, would love to get my prosthesis out.....

Gigondas Topsy Fresh Meat is one of the good things about watching TV with teens. It comes as a bit of a surprise to them when I guffaw and say x's Dad did that Blush Plus JP this week was hanging off Brimham Rocks where they go with mad Grandad and much the same thing has been known to happen

Topsy Thanks Wine on behalf of the horse. I am hopeless with animals in distress, a well know blubberer at the vets. That was amazing presence of mind to put the bridle around the front legs. Heroine!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/11/2012 07:49

I shall menace the scary and mad choir lady with my horrid red hands (they are awful today and they woke me up early-they sort of contract with soreness- I am stupid, should really ring chemo nurse today, but seems silly as only have today and tomorrow left with meds)
Loads of good luck sparkle for interview -will be thinking of you xxxx
Absolutely love Fresh Meat - we watched it with ds but I get a bit embarrassed about sex bits Grin - he sniggers away...I love Vod. (actually love them all)
Gig I would be the same as dh Grin
Hope Mr KK is safely back and not too traumatised - can imagine how uncomfortable he finds such things

Gigondas · 15/11/2012 08:24

Please ring Bcn as you shouldn't suffer like this mas. I will hold your Brew for you.

kurri I had a really good veggie book by Rose Elliot that was based on cooking something basic like tomato sauce and then you could make two meals from it. Dunno if I still have it but will hunt it out.

sparkle best not to over think the interview- you aren't that out of it as doing cover and you don't know quite what they are looking for so I doubt it is hopeless.

copthall have you tried roasting pumpkin and either making soup or shoving in freezer as its nice instead of carrot with a roast, in veg casserole etc. or I could lend you mini gig who is fond of vegetable purée and quite capable of eating a glut.

Fresh meat is a good replacement for the in betweeners . Although fresh meat probably tamer than some of stuff went on when I was at uni (and doesn't seem to have changed that much if I hear dss and dsd stories).

Gigondas · 15/11/2012 08:26

Oh and kurri I loathe smooching dinners so massive sympathy for mr k.

frank you ok?

Sympathy for itching ned and gracie

Off to hunt out a fight reasoned discussion in aibu now.

graciesmall09 · 15/11/2012 09:28

Morning to all

Good luck sparkler with your job interview. I'm sure it will go fine.

ned really hope you get your itching sorted soon. I'm itching like I have fleas and my skin has gone a lovely black, dirty looking mess. Back to nurse on Monday. Choir lady sounds a bit of a nightmare, love kurri idea for singing in her ear Grin

I have appointment with nurse first thing Monday topsy but free after about 10.30 how does that sound?

Decorator is here again painting dining room, living room and bathroom so house upside down.

topsyturner · 15/11/2012 09:47

Where is your nurse apt Gracie ?
GP or hospital ?
Where would you like to meet ?
(Somewhere where people can admire our joint scabbyness hopefully Grin )

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/11/2012 10:00

Have rung chemo nurse and she's speaking to the onc team - so think they'll tell me to stop medication and hope that onc. will reduce the dosage next time.
ned - package is all ready to post- am going to do a bit of dreary housework and then need to go out to get supplies for T as he's off to The Somme tomorrow at some ungodly hour. Will pop by p office ....
Bah about itching Sad

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 15/11/2012 10:01

Gp surgery. We could either go to same as last time or I could pick you up and we could go to Costas or somewhere else. No matter how much you coax I will not be getting my scabby boob out in public Grin

graciesmall09 · 15/11/2012 10:26

Crosspost with mas hope your onc gets your dosage sorted to make next session more comfortable. Definitely no point suffering if you don't need to.

topsyturner · 15/11/2012 10:48

Mas good idea to phone your team .
They need to know how it's effecting you .
Ts going to the Somme ?
Is the boy ever home ?

Gracie come and get me when you are done , we can decide where to go then !

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/11/2012 11:27

yup, War Graves trip tomorrow - leaving at 4.55 am so loads of food/snacks needed- yes,he does seem to be off on trips all the time. That's the last for now, unless he goes on the Berlin trip...

OP posts:
Gigondas · 15/11/2012 11:29

Are they trying to make it a very accurate visit to the Somme as t will be getting up at same time as soldiers? I do hope you get an answer from Bcn soon .

Copthallresident · 15/11/2012 11:53

MAS That is a wonderful trip, are they being shown around by ex soldiers? Both DDs did it and No 1 DD was chosen to lay the Wreath at the Menin Gate. Makes them think. No 2 DD did the Berlin trip as well and they came back from that, which included a trip to a Concentration Camp, really deeply moved and thoughtful (helped mind that for the second year running snow closed the airport and they had to come back by coach through a snow and ice covered Europe Shock). I would have gladly hidden in her suitcase though. Glad you have spoken to the Nurse. It sounds as if you should definitely get the dose reduced, the way they calculate it is very crude.

Gigondas Thanks for the tips, all our closest friends in China were Aussie /Kiwi where Pumpkin really is almost a national dish so I have a lot of lovely recipes, including a salad with sundried tomato vinaigrette and chick peas that I always do for "bring a dish" dos because it goes down so well. However when there are three of you and 10 pumpkins, each 1-2ft in diameter it's a bit overfacing. There is one huge one that might actually be bigger than little gig!! Maybe I should offer to cater for the lighting up of the Twickers Christmas Tree!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/11/2012 12:17

no word back yet- will stay in for a bit longer...
There's an Auschwitz trip too,but we were hanging on for the possibility of Berlin instead as it's getting horribly expensive...it's quite likely that we've missed the application for Berlin as ds is hopeless at passing on info/letters...
think tomorrow will be amazing and moving- hope he takes lots of pictures.
BIL who was a teacher used to take his school to the war graves every year (he is a bit of an expert) and says that there's a Belgian chocolate shop which the schools are usually herded to.
