AF came yesterday, and apart from a few cramps there's practically nothing! 90% less then last month. How does this work? Am I going to bleed until next month?? Confused

Isn't it fab! Grin

LadySybildeChocolate · 06/08/2012 22:16

Hell yes! Where does it all go though? How does it work? Confused

don't know they didn't work for me

coffeeinbed · 06/08/2012 22:18

Yes. Fab.

I do worry about it though.
I mean, won't it make things worse next time?
Where does it all go?

RandomMess · 06/08/2012 22:20

No it doesn't make it worse next time!

You just shed less somehow Confused

MrsBeep · 06/08/2012 22:22

I've been on it for a while now too...my flow does tend to last for around 5 days instead of 3-4 now, just lighter.

coffeeinbed · 06/08/2012 22:23

Oh I know...[Hmm
Has been my lifesaver for a few years now.
I still cant work it out though.

LadySybildeChocolate · 06/08/2012 22:24

My last period was almost 2 weeks, so I hope it doesn't last longer. The 5 day AF is such a distant memory. Sad

OP posts:
cybbo · 06/08/2012 22:25

I take it...do you take all the time or just during period?

RandomMess · 06/08/2012 22:25

2 weeks!

8 days was bad enough for me, I ended up with ablation by novasure as tranexamic acid isn't great if you have long periods as you can only take it for 3 days.

AtAmber · 06/08/2012 22:25

Can you buy it, or do you have to go to the gp? My periods seem to be worse every month, I don't fancy the mirena coil though.

RandomMess · 06/08/2012 22:26

You take it for what would normally be your heaviest 3 days.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 06/08/2012 22:26

What is it? And how do I obtain some? . Sounds miraculous.

cybbo · 06/08/2012 22:27

Prescription only

coffeeinbed · 06/08/2012 22:27

it used to be prescription only.
I think it's over the counter now, or at least there is a painkiller with TA that is available OTC.

coffeeinbed · 06/08/2012 22:28

Yes, but there's no three heaviest days.
It just cuts it down to nothing, at least for me.

LadySybildeChocolate · 06/08/2012 22:29

2 weeks wasn't the longest, that was 19 days. I was so happy when it finished. A week later Aunty Flo returned. Darn fibroids! So you don't take it until the bleeding stops?? There's not a lot of instructions on the box, just 2 3 times a day.

OP posts:
mumofjust1 · 06/08/2012 22:31

Nope, it doesn't make it worse next time!

My af was so heavy that my Gp suggested taking it the day I was due, and take it 3 times a day for 5 days.

It made things manageable for me.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 22:32

Just looked it up

I didn't realise either. Struggling with mine at the moment but with other health stuff it's not been a priority. Wish I'd known before!

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 22:36

So it really works??? That would be brilliant. Does it help with the pain?

CarGirl · 06/08/2012 22:38

In case anyone doesn't know you shouldn't take ibuprofen and tranexamic acid at the same time!!
