my down below bits (the bits at the outside) feel very swollen, if I squat down and press on the swollen bit something pokes out of my vagina, it doesnt hurt though. I am 17 weeks pregg with second child does anyone know what this is? Sorry I am very embarrassed even though I dont know any of you thanks cath

they are your labia my dear, be proud, you have two pairs, the majora and the minora, the inner and the outer. Hell, we all have them and three cheers for our labia.

In answer to your question, I think it's just your pg body and the hormones travelling to your labia and making them swell. If your are not in any dicomfort then don't worry Smile

nailpolish · 08/03/2006 10:30

i was going to say hormones can make your labia swell too

Cath73 · 08/03/2006 10:33

thank you for labia, lol. but I have noticed something pokes out? when I press the swollen labias? That is not normal I am sure?

Is there not a condition like piles only it affects the vagina? I will look for you....

suzywong · 08/03/2006 10:36

You know what, if you can bear it, ask your partner if he can see anything abnormal. But then again if you can't face it, I think it is just part of your vaginal wal, it is a rather raggy thing at the b est of times and it certainly won't be anything vital to the baby like your cervix.

What's the betting someone comes on here and says "beef curtains" and lowers the whole tone.

I'm putting money on Fio2, Fairyfly or maybe....... Enid

nailpolish · 08/03/2006 10:36

could be a small prolapse

nailpolish · 08/03/2006 10:39

lol SW

cath, have you squatted over a mirror to have a look?

you could also ask the mw at your next appt

DumbledoresGirl · 08/03/2006 10:39

There is such a condition as vaginal hemorrhoids. I have just googled it but did not find a very good website to link for yu. perhaps you would like to google vaginal hemorrhoids and see if you come up with anything useful.

Cath73 · 08/03/2006 10:40

i have looked it looks like a long thing with a hole in it, cant believe I am having this converesation lol

I hate the term beef curtains Shock

that sounds like your cervix??? can't be though can it? I would ask the midwife.

Bozza · 08/03/2006 10:42

But wouldn't vaginal H's hurt? It maybe the inner labia sticking out past the outer labia. Mine definitely were swollen in pg, especially 2nd time round.

nailpolish · 08/03/2006 10:43

sorry cath, you are making me laugh!

could it be your clitoris? is it definitely coming out of your vagina?

DumbledoresGirl · 08/03/2006 10:44

Can you insert a finger into your vagina? If you can and it feels normal inside, then that would rule out a prolapse wouldn't it?

4blue1pink · 08/03/2006 10:45

Varicous veins of the vulva... they may have a heavy feeling though.

TMI but when pg my 'bits' are more protruberent !!!

Check with a doc or midwife done be embarrassed ( easy to say i know!)

Cath73 · 08/03/2006 10:45

no its definately not my clitoris I know what that is lol! If I push on the swollen part there is pink bit that pops out of my vagina, it does look a bit like a clitoris but it definately isnt that!!

\link{http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/vaginalprolapse.html\vaginal prolapse}

is this your 1st pg cath? because according to the site above this usually happens AFTER childbirth (but not always)

WigWamBam · 08/03/2006 10:47

Go and see the GP or your midwife for advice ... they will have seen it all before and can advise you better than we can.

suzywong · 08/03/2006 10:48

how thick is this long thing with a hole in it?
The thickness of your littel finger or like a super plus tampon or bigger?

I 'm thinking if it's about 3cm or more in diameter it could be your cervix

Other wise it may be a vein, or a small sea creature, dunno

nailpolish · 08/03/2006 10:49

surely it cant be the cervix.......

4blue1pink · 08/03/2006 10:50

nailpolish i am not sure if i can stomach your link - is it a photo?

beetroot · 08/03/2006 10:51

I am dieing to know what it is Grin

beetroot · 08/03/2006 10:52

lol at 'a small creature'

Enid · 08/03/2006 10:53

oh poor cath

make sure you ask your midwife

4blue1pink · 08/03/2006 10:56

i know a few people who have had problems like this generally after childbirth and its all worked out fine so dont worry cath! {hugs}

suzywong · 08/03/2006 10:59

yes, sympathies to you cath, don't mean to laugh at you - not in the least, I just mean that one's downbelows are a marvellous and elastic compostie organ and if you aren't in pain then a check with the midwife on your next visit may put your mind at rest
