have you tried

only buying wine at more than £10.00 a bottle
keeping the empty bottles where you finished them
not washing the empty glasses
waiting until after 9.00pm to open a bottle
keeping the bottle in the kitchen

can you think of some more?

Threshers is shit CD,but hard to turn down a 3 for 2 offer when it's good Champagne.

Best ploy is not to buy.I have very expensive taste in wine, which works quite well in rural North Wales as the good wine merchants are a good 1/2 hour away and I sure as hell aint desperate enough to drink
Chateau Pissoir or Kangaroo's Armpit which is all the supermarkets seem to have.

CountessDracula · 08/03/2006 20:37

yes that is where the wine soc or the like step in Grin

I have to exercise willpower as we always have at least 200 bottles in the house

WWW how fab is it local (said in league of gent styleeee)

WideWebWitch · 08/03/2006 20:46

Moondog, Sainbury's white burgundy at £4.99 is very nice imo. But maybe you don't want to know?! Cd, have emaile doyu.

moondog · 08/03/2006 20:46

I did get overly fond of Laithwaite's at one stage...
Takes a Herculean effort not to take the catalogue to bed with me to drooooool over.

moondog · 08/03/2006 20:47

WWW,my nearest S is an hour away!
Good thing really..one supermarket I do quite like.

Have compromised with a shezza to avoid opening bottle of wine

moondog · 08/03/2006 20:53

Fine wine pod??
Tell me more.
Am imagining some temp. controlled inner sanctum accessible only to the chosen few via key pad which operates incredibly smooth door mechanism.

CountessDracula · 08/03/2006 20:55

yes is exactly that but anyone can go in, dh and I blew a bloody fortune in there not long ago

i get very nervous when dd is in there!

Hmm have guzzled shezza, should I go and get some wine?

moondog · 08/03/2006 21:00

Well, that decision is between you and your maker CD (says she sipping a peppermint tea) Grin

CountessDracula · 08/03/2006 21:16

Well as Mark Twain said, the only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not.

Bloody hell

Does that mean I will be healthy if I drink malibu?

moondog · 08/03/2006 21:18

Malibu!!
One of my relatives (not blood hasten to add) adds a slug to her instant coffe before zapping it in the microwave.

CountessDracula · 08/03/2006 21:20

moondog · 08/03/2006 21:23

milge · 08/03/2006 21:28

Why not only buy wine en primeur from a broker and keep it in bond for 10yrs +, you get all the pleasure of choosing now, but not the temptation of having stuff around the house. I think WWW's idea of champagne is really good, I don't think twice about cracking open a bottle of white, but would never dream of opening champagne unless I had a v good excuse.

CountessDracula · 08/03/2006 21:28

whoops double vision!

(oh and only caribbean rum not bloody bacardi or captain morons)

cod · 08/03/2006 21:28
