Does anyone else get 'belts' from....

cars
shopping trolleys
other people
etc.

I do on a daily basis (even through leather gloves fgs) and I hate it.

I must be highly static or something.

Is there anything I can do to reduce it

I thought you meant you find belts around the place and nick them lol!

Yes I do, esp at home when wearing ugg boots slipper things. Do you wear uggs? They seem the worst for some reason.

Also when weather is cold is much worse, I had friends who went to moscow in Feb on honeymoon and couldn't snog or hold hands because they got really bad shocks Shock

NomDePlume · 06/03/2006 17:42

and you call yourself a pedat, Ms Twig Wink

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 06/03/2006 17:42

cars all the time

CountessDracula · 06/03/2006 17:42

pedat???

NomDePlume · 06/03/2006 17:42

pedant, f'ing DD messing with the mouse and throwing the cursor around the screen

Kelly1978 · 06/03/2006 17:42

touching them with your wedding ring first - then you won't feel the discharge so much. Could also be your shoes causing it.

Twiglett · 06/03/2006 17:44

have never called myself a pedant .. that's other people .. not sure I like it tbf Grin

NomDePlume · 06/03/2006 17:44

Feistybird · 06/03/2006 17:45

Is your hair static too??
Do you use fabric conditioner??

Kelly1978 · 06/03/2006 17:53

I 5think rubber is supposed to make it worse rather than leather. Seriously tho, all you need to do it touch the object with soemthing metal first - like your ring or keys or whatever. Then you won't get a shock.

Kelly1978 · 06/03/2006 17:54

soz for typing - v, v tired!

Feistybird · 06/03/2006 17:54

hair is not too bad (I mean I don't constantly look like I have my finger in the plug socket) and yes I do use fabric conditioner.

Also occasionally get belts when I kiss my dd's and dp (although much rare with him as I kiss him a lot less)

Feistybird · 06/03/2006 17:54

Kelly will try that - thanks.

My Mum is a nightmare for this - especially in shops, you actually hear the crack when she touches something. I do it in certain shoes and certain shops - Boots is a bad one, for some reason. And my Chicco Trekking used to do it - it kind of charged me up when I was pushing it then I'd get a hell of a shock when I touched something.

BettySpaghetti · 06/03/2006 17:58

I get them all the time -the worst recently seems to be from buttons on lifts.
I even got one the other day from a shop assistant who was giving me my change -we both looked at each other and shouted "Ouch" much to the amusement of the other assistant!

Feistybird · 06/03/2006 18:05

God yes, lifts are a nightmare and used to get dp to push buggies, they all made me crackle.
