I am due to go to orthodontist this afternoon and I am getting soooooooooo nervous which is stupid

I was going to have it done 4 years ago but chickened out as I will have to have a tooth taken out

I had braces for years as a teenager and had loads of teeth taken out then

But to get them straight I will have to have a side one taken out

I am nervous because I started the treatment 4 years ago and then cancelled it and said I couldn't afford it but really it was just me being stupid

DH is coming with me as moral support

btw I am not afraid of dentists I am embarressed that I cancelled it 4 years ago really BlushBlush

How many others have had adult braces?

.

my teeth are not very white anyway

so don't really want them to look any more yellow

I don't smoke but do eat curry sometimes

I am going to have the colour changed afterwards
either with vaneers or whitening

i notice peoples teeth.... but then i am a dentist!!!! go for whitening afterwards. but make sure your brushing is gold standard...

What's the right way to brush now?

As a child we were told only up and down, never in circles. The electric toothbrushes came out which do circles and the dentist (same one I had for about 30 years!) saud use the electric toothbrush and aquapic.

Then aquapic was no good apparently and everyone should use electric toothbrush and tepe brushes instead of floss

Then last dentist told us that everyone should always use a small toothbrush .e.g winnie the pooh size 2(?) chiild's brush.

Brush after every meal? Not immiediately? Brush before breakfast? Wait ten mins before brushing? Eat a piece of cheese if you can't brush?

Disclosing tablets the answer to everything? What about mouthwash?

Anyone able to clarify?

I think I am going to go for the ones that show up

either with colours or something else

Does anyone have any more photos of examples of braces so I can have better ideas of what it would look like please?

BTW Thanks for the info about my tooth in my gum

I had incognito braces. Train tracks behind the teeth so totally invisible. They cost 7500 (!!) for six months but my teeth are totally perfect now.
