really bad period pain but no period yet

Have had really bad period pain for about 24 hours (at least) but, so far, no period. I think I might be worrying unnecessarily but could there be anything seriously wrong?

I had something very similar a couple of weeks ago - turned out to be the start of a gastro bug that lasted a week. Good luck - hope yours isn't!

thanks polster but I hope it isn't! DS1 ended up in hospital 2 weeks ago with gastro-entiritis and DH and I had it a few days later.
Never thought I would be hoping my period would come but it's so painful - taken neurofen but it hasn't touched it

Bizarrely the cure seems to be drinking copious amounts of red wine which then sems to get things going

well - still no sign. I hope it's the same outcome as sparkly1 - if not, I shall try your suggestion zippi!

i get a rumbly thing going on just before my period.am ttc and no sign of period yet,but feel like its coming.too scared to do test cos dont want to be disappointed!

I too had cramps and no period last week and for me too it was a BFP

A feeling of being due on is my first sign of pregnancy - I had it all three times. So did my sis and SIL.

we are trying for number 6!never felt like i was with any of them!with number 5 had been bleeding and when i went for a scan,i thought i was only 7 weeks,but turned out i was 12!feel periody,but just no sign,and am usually early.(am 4 days late)

perhaps you should test??? let use know how you get on. fingers crossed!

of course the excuse for large amounts of wine isn't any good for TTC

i darent!!got a test in the bathroom,but keep thinking am coming on,so dont want to do it because i know i'll get disappointed.daft i know!but i'll let you know what happens!!

wait till the morning then as that is the best time to test and also gives af a chance to come if it is going to...

I don't kow zippi - DS1 would never have been conceived if it wasn't for the copious amounts of wine DH and had that night

I think it's too early for me to do a test but I promise I will let you know if it turns out to be positive!
Pain still there but not so bad now - sat with hot water bottle on it all afternoon.

hi tommy,any news yet?im still achey but no period yet.did a test and was neg .i did a digital one and it said 'not pregnant' but when i took the stick thing out,there is a very faint line near the dark one.dh reckons that i am but its too early.will do another test at the weekend.was up all night worrying myself stupid to the point i was actually sick!!(when i was pg with the last one i thought i was only 7 weeks as i had had a period,but when i went for a scan,i was 12 weeks and the bleeding i had had was my dd's twin,i lost it at 12 weeks.so am worried this might happen again)

no news yet.... I'm very nervous of doing a test so soon though. I got pregnant this time last year and miscarried at 12 weeks so it's all a bit too emotional for me really. I haven't mentioned it even to DH and he hasn't said anything about my period coming or not (I think he thinks it probably has and I just haven't told him). The period type pains have mostly gone now and I'm 2 days or so late now.
Excited that I'm might pg but nervous!
