C-cat don?t get me wrong I have my moments of weakness. I have searched the house/ garden in a ?just wondering around? manor for discarded fag butts and tonight (DPs birthday) lots of DPs friends where here before they went out and I agreed they could smoke in our back room when they left I went in and breathed in deeper then I have ever ever breathed in my life! I woke up last sat and my first words to DP were I wish we (he joined me in given up 3 days after I did) still smoked i did (might have been do?) like my Saturday morning fags.

I find my cravings for a fag only last as long as I want the them to, as in I think I want a fag I tell my self to shut up and eff off then get on with what I?m doing and it?s forgotten about it?s when I start thinking where I might be able to find one and how I can sneak off to have it etc (as in my mind drags the craving on) that I start losing the will (if you like) to stay stopped. I still think the actual making the choice to stop was the hardest, I always had an excuse not to, I?ve got nearly a full packet stopping would be wasteful, I?ve 200 duty free or just ?I will give up(but never intend too.)in the end i gave all my cards to DP so once i spent all my cash i couldn't buy and more, i am trying to think of examples of times i have really really wanted a fag but it is making me really want a fag now so I am now going to have to go and wash up or something distract myself!. Speak soon.

Hey-ho

Anybody around, how is everyone doing? Especially the newly fag free?

Can't remember how many days it has been for me now, that must be a good sign??? :)

Had a bit of a crave when I saw a smoking friend for the first time since quitting, but it was a pretty weak crave and went quickly :).

notasheep · 27/02/2006 12:29

Another relapse, and feeling very angry- March 1st stopping again.

Blame this fall on dp as usual

So i am a bit behind you now canadian mum-Well done and just take your time

notasheep · 27/02/2006 12:29

rickman · 27/02/2006 12:32

I haven't caved in yet, but I keep thinking about it. Trying to avoid the shops at the moment, in case I get taken over by a strange force and made to buy some!

charliecat · 27/02/2006 16:18

I remember standing opposite a fag shop with EARS PRICKING MY EYESShock
Notasheep what happened???!!! Rickman...well bloody done , keep away from those shops.

Had a guy round today to do some work in the garden, and he offered me a cigarette !!!!!!! OMG, managed to tell him I didn't smoke with a rather forced smile, then told him I quit a few weeks ago. He then said he wouldn't give me one even if I said yes, so that was kind of him.

but OH IT WAS TEMPTING!!!!! And it wasn't even my brand - lol :)

notasheep, don't wait until march 1st, get back on the wagon NOW - one cigarette is not the end of the world.......

well done rickman, stay away from those evil magnetic shops Wink

ButternutSquash · 27/02/2006 23:50

Hello all,
well I am still fag-free and amazed at how easy it is this time (spent most of last summer quiting for a couple of days, then falling off the wagon, then quiting again, etc.) Perhaps that means I'm really ready this time? Of course I am having cravings, but not that bad, and I haven't been horribly bad tempered either.
All the best to all of you! Smile

Tortington · 28/02/2006 00:48

am on the edge. its been a weekend from holy hell. in fact it was the MIL of hell. went to petrol station at 9.50 pm to fill up. and looked at fags and thought " no one would evvvvvvvvvvvvver knew , i could just have errrr a little one"

but i didn't.
so well done me.

notasheep · 28/02/2006 11:45

Good Morning everyone and Well Done to you all!!!!

My slip happened after finding that dp had done MASSES of porn on computer.

So it will be Day 1 again tomorrow!

canadianmum · 28/02/2006 11:45

custardo, big pat on the back, well done you!!! :)

Hello Butternut, how long has it been? Glad to hear it's not too tough this time, stick with it.

Cravings are getting weaker, hallelujah! Am now craving coffee in the day and wine at night, must have an addictive personality Blush

rickman · 28/02/2006 19:56

Nearly a week and all I want to do is nip to the shops and get a packet. Physically, I feel ok but I just want one!!

charliecat · 28/02/2006 19:59

Ah, but it never is just one. It never is. Never ever ever.
And even when they used to sell singles at the shop people still brought packets full of them.
You know if you stay stopped now you will never become one of those people in tescos that buy the 200 packs for...oh...how much...40 odd quid...trying to save 2 quid buying them in bulk...rejoice.

OP posts:
notasheep · 28/02/2006 22:37

so far this year it has been January stopped for 3 weeks then started again,
February EXACTLY the same!

Obviously this 3 week barrier must be the problem, find the early days easy.

Also didnt smoke AT ALL over half term as was away from home and dp and didnt crave at all.

i have been on 4 to 6 a day and felt sick and angry smoking them, how pathetic!

charliecat · 28/02/2006 22:41

Learn from your mistakes, you know you dont REALLY want to be smoking, its just the evil ploy to get you back on them...maybe thinking that the tobacco companys customers are dying off fast and you defintely dont want to be one of them will keep you off them.
You want to stop smoking not drag the process out for ever... :)

charliecat · 01/03/2006 21:07

rickman · 01/03/2006 22:52

I've been fag free for a week now. Can't deny that I have a desire to nip into the nearest garage and get myself a packet, but I've managed not to yet.

charliecat · 02/03/2006 08:08

Well there is no point going now RM...you will only have to do it all over again at a later date...Well DOne...bet youve surprised yourself...are all the kids still alive??!!Wink
